RULES OF THE EWC UPDATED NOVEMBER 6TH 2009
The EWC has always been known to be a relaxed atmosphere and a very close community. It is important to understand that the EWC roster and staff have a very good friendship and are all one big united family despite what any angle might be playing out.
We love it when new people come and join and instantly become apart of history. As you may or may not know, the EWC has been around since March of 1997 (in mind since 1995).
That's at least 12 years of history & wisdom jammed into one amazing federation. Please take the time to look over these "rules" and "guidelines" and also check out our tips to help you improve your game!
THE RULES
THE BIG TWO!!!
Rule #1: Do Not write another EWC roster member into your role-plays without their permission. This is a very strict rule. This goes for all members, not just your opponents. Only if you're in a team with the other character, or you ask for their permission to write them is it allowed. If you use another member's character without their permission, you will possibly lose your match, regardless of whatever else has been written.
Rule #2: Do Not include any Racially offensive, Satanic, or unnecessary Sexually explicit elements in your character or role-plays. Attempt to keep it mature. If you're making a non-offensive joke about a race or ethnic group, or your character is just dark like the Undertaker, or you write a scene where you're just laying in bed with a woman, don't worry.
We won't dock you points or make you lose because of it. Just use your best judgment. Don't be ignorant by going on some unwarranted "Gay" rant and try to refrain from using the term "Fag" unless referring to a cigarette. Other racist words may not be tolerated depending on the context.
Bottom-line is to just be careful, because if you go too far, you won't score any points with us, and you WILL lose some...and could get yourself suspended!
THE REST
Rule #3: Role-play at least once before every show. If you no-show 3 times you will be removed from the brand and be suspended. If you cannot role-play, you MUST inform your GM ASAP. We will no longer do the "If you don't RP you are fired" thing. It's now, 3 NO-SHOWS = Suspended and or dropped to the free agent list. If you no-show without giving us (the staff) a heads up, your opponent will BADLY beat you.
Rule #4: Original characters only. Originality is a must. Unless...you talk to us about it and it works out that we can have a non original wrestler here. At one time we had Buff Bagwell here as himself. So...yea. Otherwise, don't use a persons real name and likeness UNLESS it's approved by the staff. 9 times out of 10 it wont be. We don't want to be sued after all.
Rule #5: No whining or complaining about losses on the boards. If you have an issue take it up with the GM of that show, or with me...the President...BigMac...yea. If you complain on the boards, expect major consequences
Rule #6: EWC Management has the final word on any issue. Sorry if this seems harsh, but hey...that's the way it's gotta be. We have a large staff base, so it's not like any "one" person can hold you back from reaching your goals.
The EWC has NEVER held anyone back because we didn't like them, or because we liked someone else better. This has NEVER happen and will NEVER happen - no matter what Jason Burgess tells you (j/k). We do not play favorites, no matter what. Even if you upset the staff, we will not hold it against you when it comes to voting on your match
Rule #7: The EWC is based on role-playing but most importantly, angles. So be sure to be in direct contact with the GM's to find out what he/she has in store for your character and how you can get involved. However, you will NEVER lose a match for the sake of an Angle unless you asked for that to happen. In which case, it will NOT effect your W/L/D record in the EWC
Rule #8: You can challenge anyone to any type of match, if they accept, the match will take place. This can be done on the HOUSE SHOW RP BOARD. In some rare occasions, it can take place on the OOC board, but make it official on the HOUSE SHOW BOARD or on an actual show (MNB/HCW/FNR/PPV). To be safe, CONTACT the person via PM and have it worked out as an ANGLE on the show
Rule #9: Is there an RP limit? Yes...yes there is! Thanks for asking... Anyways, unless otherwise indicated, each WEEKLY SHOW has a STANDARD limit of a 1 rp per wrestler per match That means if you have 2 matches in one night you can do 2. But only 1 for each. In MAIN EVENT matches and IN TITLE MATCHES the limit is normally 2 or 3 rp's for that match.
YOU CAN ONLY add a reply to a post if it is INDICATED in the match. Some matches may call for 1 RP or 3 RP limits. They will be indicated on the card itself.
Pay-Per-View RP limits will be a standard 2 to 3 max with no replies unless otherwise indicated on the card. In Royal Rumbles, there are no rp limits, but you must wait for someone else to post before you post twice. So NO double posting.
Rule #10: Stay in contact, if you cannot role-play for a scheduled match then contact EWC management by instant messenger or through email. If it's your first match, there are no excuses good enough and you might be suspended or released by your gm and become a free agent! In title match cases you may be stripped of your title if you do not show up/role-play to defend for it.
If a ONE on ONE match occurs, and the champ does not RP he will lose the title and the challenger will win it. IF THE CHAMP gives notice that he cannot RP, then the challenger wins the match...the title is vacated and they both rematch the following week. In that match the winner wins the title. IF THE MATCH is a 3 way for the title or more...and the majority are able to RP but the CHAMP is not able...the title will go to the victor of the match
Rule #11: Role-play Rules ::A:: You cannot have more then a 2 RP advantage on your opponent. This means, if you do 2 rps...and your opponent doesn't post 1...you can't do a third. You can go 2 - 0 or 3 - 1 but not 3 - 0
::B:: You cannot post more then 1 RP in a 5 hour period unless authorized by ONE or MORE staff members at least 24 hours in advance of the deadline. So, if you post 1 RP at 1PM you cannot post a 2nd RP till after 6PM of that same day
::C:: No more then 2 role-plays can be posted on the FINAL day of role-playing
::D:: Double posting or adding a reply to/in an RP is ONLY allowed if the reply is done within 10 minutes of the first RP. If it takes you longer, then it clearly wasn't apart of the original post and you are just trying to make it look like a longer RP. This is also ONLY ALLOWED if it is mentioned in the RP Requirements for the match. Otherwise no REPLIES are allowed.
::E:: Editing your role-plays. There is a feature called "preview post" here in the EWC. We suggest you use it and use it well. Why? Because there is NO EDITING YOUR POSTED ROLE-PLAYS after you post them. So do your spell checks, your color fixes, your editing and what not, BEFORE you post. If for some reason, some error happens then PM the problem and the fix to the staff and WE will EDIT it FOR YOU! If you break this rule, that RP will not count and it will be deleted
HOW W/L/D Counts in the EWC
ONE ON ONE MATCHES If you win by pin, or DQ you get the win and the loser gets the loss
TAG TEAM MATCHES If it's a NON-ELIMINATION MATCH...then the winners of the match, EACH get the win and losers EACH get the loss in there TAG TEAM RECORD. This counts to-wards your OVER-ALL record but NOT your singles record
IF it's an ELIMINATION TAG TEAM MATCH then NO LOSSES are given, but the REMAINING MEMBERS of the WINNING TAG TEAM each GET A WIN in there TAG TEAM record
GIMMICK MATCHES These (to me) are matches that DO NOT involve a pin. So LADDER matches, CASKET matches,
If you win, you get the WIN but if you LOSE...you don't get a loss. Unless you are COUNTED OUT, or DQ'D
TRIP THREATS/4-MAN/5-MAN/ 6-MAN CHAMBER/BATTLE ROYAL/KING OF THE CAGE In a trip/threat match or any match like it with 3 or more guys involved, only THE WINNER of the ENTIRE match counts a WIN on the RECORD. None of the losers count a loss
In a battle ROYAL, ONLY THE WINNER counts a win, no losers count a loss
In KING OF THE CAGE, every MATCH you win is a WIN and if your lose, it's a loss.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
CAN A WRESTLER HOLD MORE THEN ONE TITLE? One wrestler may NOT hold two singles titles at the same time. If a singles champion wins another singles title, then the lower ranked belt will be automatically vacated. (There may be an exception if a wrestler owns titles on different shows) A wrestler IS allowed, however, to be a singles champion and a tag team champion at the same time.
WHO VOTES ON MATCHES? The EWC has an actual Voters area. *Regular matches are voted on by the GM's of the Brand. *Title matches are voted on by the entire staff and helpers (around 7 people) via a poll. *Dual Brand PPV's are voted on by the whole staff and are sent via email/PM to the President.
*If by some chance a VOTER is involved in a match to be voted on, then he/she is NOT allowed to vote on the match.
HOW ARE WINNERS PICKED? Since there are several voters on most matches in the EWC, everyone has a different perspective on what they like/dislike in a promo. However there is a general rule that we all follow...
QUALITY over QUANTITY.
It is possible for someone to write ONE solid promo, beating someone who wrote TWO or THREE that had very little effort put into the writing.
We can pretty much break it down in this way...
Relevancy (1-25) Relevancy is simple. Did you talk about your match or storyline or successfully advance your character in a meaningful way.
Entertainment / Creativity (1-35) Is it enjoyable and interesting or does it go on and on and on? Are you creative or is it dull and boring? The more we enjoy your role play, the higher the score.
Flow (1-25) Did the role play flow well? Was I able to follow along or did you lose me? If you lost me or if your RP was hard to follow and confusing, you will lose points in this area. Spelling and grammar are important since we have a spell checker on here, but it wont KILL you unless it's just bad bad bad bad!
TOTAL SCORE (1-85) Relevancy + Entertainment + Flow
HOW DOES THE POWER 25 POINT SYSTEM WORK? The Power 25 in the EWC has nothing to do with Story lines or anything. You get points based on achievements and thats it. It's an actual point system. There is a spreadsheet that calculates everything for us, we add in the records for the month and it adds it all up. There are 11 categories.
The categories are: Win, Loss, Win a title, Lose a title, Defend title, Win a multi-opponent match, Win tag match, Lose tag match, Win a big event (such as Rumble in the Bronx or be crowned King of the Ring), For every role play written we give +1 point for each post (We like to reward people for efforts and showing up) For every no show -5 points
HOW ARE THE SHOW RATINGS DETERMINED? OR IS IT JUST MADE UP? Good question! They actually aren't made up. If you were to look back into all of our history the dates match up perfectly. You may have noticed there are many dates missing in large chunks, thats because we had closed for a few months or were without staff for a few weeks. Anyways, the RATINGS! They are pretty much based on the matches. For example, if a Show had multiple title matches in one night, that show's rating would be very high because people would tune in even more just to see the title matches. If you have someone making a return, or some big storyline...those draw in the numbers. But if you have a show that has no titles and has no vets on it, then you can be sure the ratings will take a dive. The ratings are also based on the quality of the results, the consistancy of the show and storylines. So a whole lot of thought actually goes into it.
Titles/Contenders/Challenges Etc...
1 - TITLES Since day 1, it's been said that ALL titles are to be defended at LEAST ONCE A MONTH with two exceptions
1 - The World Heavyweight / EWC Championships are supposed to be defended only once a month at the ppv. However, if no PPV exists for that month, then the World Title can be defended at a show. Also, a World Title CAN be defended if a former champion is going to be exacting his rematch clause. A challenge may also be made by the Number 1 contender for the World title and if accepted by the champion, that match can also take place
2 - The TV Championship. This is supposed to be defended EVERY week and NOT on JOINT PPV's. Even if the TV Champion is involved in another match that night, he still must defend the TV title. Again, TV titles are NOT defended at JOINT pay-per-views and do not need to be defended at Branded PPV's, it's up the the GM of the show.
CONTENDERS There are 2 - 3 contenders for EVERY BELT in the EWC. To be a contender you must BEAT a contender (And have won 5 matches at least for the lowest ranked belt). If the #1 contender fights the champion and LOSES, he will drop down one spot
Contenders CAN BE challenged. If they are beat, the winner takes there contender spot.
To contend for the WORLD TITLE on any show, you MUST have at least 10 wins with no exceptions (unless a challenge is made to and accepted by a contender, and the person with less then 10 wins...wins.)
CHALLENGES Challenges must be made on the BOTTOM-LINE board and or on the actual SHOW. Please refrain from making ACTUAL challenges in an RP. I don't expect the ROSTER to read every RP you write just because you mention there name all the time.
A challenge is up to both people to accept. If a challenge is deemed STUPID, the staff can step in and prevent the match
