The image opens inside the Silver Cloud Restaurant & Karaoke Bar in downtown San Francisco. There is quite a ruckus going on currently as Gabrielle Visconty wails out the last few bars of Survivor's 1982 smash hit “Eye Of The Tiger” from a small stage in the back. As the song finishes there is a loud roar from the patrons and Gabi smiles and waves out to them. Long gone is the timid rookie that walked out to her first match in the EWC in December, a short 8 months ago. She shot like a rocket to the forefront of the EWC, captured the Television Title, wrestled the greatest the fed had to offer, and made her way from the Future Stars of Wrestling to the flagship show – Monday Night Brawl. But it hasn't always been spotlights and cheering fans - She dropped out of college to pursue her dreams, dreams of becoming a wrestler like her Mother and Father. Both her parents had held championships in several feds, and young Gabi, having grown up in the world of wrestling from her birth, wanted to carry on the family name. Venturing into the independent wrestling promotions, carried by the family name, Gabi grew to resent that very name. In Japan she strove to outpace the name and pushed herself above and beyond her capabilities, and ultimately ended up paying a harsh price. A nasty fall during a cage match left Gabi with a severe concussion and a fractured collar bone that sidelined her for most of a year. Struggling with the decision to quit wrestling and go back to school, or fight through the physical therapy and the effects of the concussion, Gabi chose wrestling. Making her come back 9 months after her injury, she quickly started racking up wins and popularity in Japan, gaining the nickname “The Angel” for her high flying maneuvers and “cute” appearance. Her indy career defining moment came during a 6 man Elimination TLC match. Gabi didn't win the match but was the last eliminated, highlighting her cardio and dynamic aerial moves. A tape of that match landed in the hands of President Mac and he quickly got Gabi on a plane to EWC headquarters, signing her in early November. The rest, as they say, is history.
Gabi laughs as the crowd of bar patrons chant for one more. Gabi shakes her head and hops down off the stage and makes her way to the bar. The path to the bar is littered with fans, all wanting a selfie or an autograph, or maybe just a moment of her time; which Gabi gladly gives them. The short 15 foot walk takes 20 minutes, but when she reaches the bar there is drinks waiting on her from fans and admirers alike. She sits, back against the bar, as a couple frat boys take the stage to start their very “special” rendition of the Beastie Boys “So What Cha Want”. It's at that moment that Ace Heart slides smoothly into the scene, taking a seat next to Gabi. She notices him and lets out an excited squeak and hugs him – oddly Ace appears to be caught off guard by Gabi's reaction to his presence.
”Hello Gabrielle, I am here to take some brief comments on your upcoming match at Scars and Stripes with International Champion, Cyrus Black.”
Gabi giggles at Ace as she sets her glass on the bar, nearly spilling it as she does. She straightens up in her chair and bursts into laughter. Ace has a confused look on his face.
”Pffft! Cyrus Black has once again dodged the... title defense. I have to beat him to get a shot at the title? I'll tell ya what Ace, I beat Cyrus and I don't want his stupid title. I will have proved what I needed to. Screw him and Victor Price and his new Science Teacher looking GM of Brawl.”
”Gabi slightly slurs her words as she speaks, but Ace Heart, being the veteran interviewer that he is, stays composed and cool.
”You're saying that you don't want the International Title?”
”Oh I want it, but not if I have to jump through hoops and sing and dance for it. Cyrus offered me a title shot and now I have to go through all this bullshit again.”
”You had your chance to face Cyrus for his title in your match against Iggy Swango. You lost that match and the EWC brass most likely feel that you need to prove yourself worthy of a title shot.”
Gabi grabs her drink and polishes it off before answering.
”I beat Stephanie Matsuda, Lynx Boyd, and Sam Hamilton. I beat Iggy. I beat Hush. I call out Cyrus and the bullshit hits the proverbial fan. All of the sudden I have to prove myself again... PFFT! I am about to just hang out in the mid carders and earn that $750k along with my E15 bonuses and enjoy my life.”
”But you lost the second match against Iggy, when it mattered. She won the chance to face Cyrus.”
”Whatever... I guess. Worked out great for her. I am just going to focus on putting Cyrus on his back for the 3 count and then spend the next 6 months wondering when I will get that title shot.”
”How do feel now that you have kicked the ring rust off after your month out of action due to your shoulder injury?”
”I feel fine. My -CENSORED- shoulder has healed up better than expected.”
About that time the frat boys have ended their run on the mic. Gabi pops off her chair and turns to Ace, wobbling a bit.
”I am going to go sing a little Phil Collins. You up for that, Ace? Let's tear this shit up!”
Gabi reaches out and grabs Ace's hand and starts to drag him toward the stage. The bar patrons begin to cheer as Gabi and Ace hit the stage. Ace looks a little out of his element as Gabi yells for “In The Air Tonight” by Phil Collins. The music starts to play and Gabi starts singing. Ace chimes in awkwardly on the “Oh Lord” parts. The second verse starts and Gabi presses Ace to take the lead. The image fades as Ace starts to loosen up and gets into it as Gabi hypes up the crowd.
