24 HOURS LATER
Cage is sitting in a chair facing another well dressed man across the desk in front of him. The well dressed man look to be in his mid-forties with dark brown hair. His age is displayed by the random grey hairs running through his beard. Cage sits listening to the man as he looks down fumbling with a loose thread coming from his jeans. His mind is else where and for the life of him he can’t focus on this discussion. “Alex, are you with me?” the man says taping on the desk. Cage looks up and locks eyes with the man. Clearing his throat he replies “Yeah, sorry Doc, my mind is else where today. Cage slants his eyes down to a waist basket beside the desk, its half empty and Cage feels the need to empty it but pushes the impulse back. “Alex I know you hate when I ask you this but do you want to hurt yourself?” Cage looks at him with an irritated look. “Like I have said before, I wrestle for a living and I specialize in hardcore type matches. You know, tables and ladders and chairs OH MY!” cage slaps his hands to his face as if he was reenacting the movie Home Alone. “You know that’s not what I’m talking about Alex.” Doc says in a stern voice. “No I’m not going to hurt myself OK!” Cage replies annoyingly. “What about the voices are you still hearing them?” Doc notices a shift in Cage’s posture. Cage, who clears his throat responds in a low tone. “No, Yes, well not all of them just one. I hear him mostly when I’m working.” Doc leans forward, “Do you hear him now?” Cage sits up in his chair and shifts his gaze to the ceiling. “Not he isn’t here right now. He usually shows up when I need to make a quick decision or someone really just makes me mad. When that happens it’s like he takes over my thoughts and actions.” Cage takes a sip of water from his clear bottle. “It's like my subconscious takes over while I’m still wide awake. Sometimes I don’t mind while other times I do.” Doc clicks his pen and takes a few notes then looks back at Cage. “Let's continue doing what we’re doing. It seems to be working out the best. How’s the move to the new job?” Cage perks up and let’s out a small half grin. “It’s looking like a positive change. I should have something here soon. I’m already missing the rush you get from competing.” “That’s great news.” Doc says as he looks at his watch. “Unfortunately that our time Alex. Same time in two weeks?” Cage nods and pulls himself out of the seat. He shakes hands with Doc and exits the room. Doc looks down at his chart looking at two options Satisfactory or Unsatisfactory. HE looks down hard at the Unsatisfactory option but checks the Satisfactory box and slams the chart closed.
