(Writer's Note: This was supposed to appear on FSW tonight, but my dumb ass didn't get it up fast enough [phrasing]... Anyway, I didn't forget the PARAMOUNT people!)
Watson: It’s been an electric atmosphere so far as FSW’s finest are pulling out all the stops while jockeying for places on Uprising in two weeks time!
Sydney: We’ve seen a few fall off the wagon, and I couldn’t be happier.
Watson: Cid, they’re literally Future Stars, why not try and empower them?
Sydney: Why would I start being positive now, Tim?
Watson: You’re getting paid…
Sydney: It’s the talking heads that make all the money, come on now.
Watson: ...Anyway, things are happening quickly here, and-
“THE ACE OF SPADES! THE ACE OF SPADES!!!”
Sydney: Oh, fuck me…
The Daly City crowd clearly doesn’t share Cid’s sentiment as they erupt with cheers while the iconic Motörhead anthem roars to life. Once the guitars kick in, Ace King casually strolls out in street clothes, the X-Division Championship over his shoulder.
Watson: And business has just picked up AGAIN!
Sydney: Jesus, what’s he doing here?
Watson: I think you’ll find A LOT of the FSW locker room will have interest in what ‘The Gambler’ has on his shoulder, because it’s a new era in EWC!
Sydney: Way to not oversell it.
Ace looks out at the Cow Palace crowd, and a small smile crosses his face as he nods toward the fans. He casually makes his way down the ramp, his arms outstretched for fans to tag him along the way. He goes up the ring steps with a bounce in his step, then ascends the nearest turnbuckle before dropping into the ring.
The X-Division Champion grabs a microphone from the ringside attendant, and as “Ace of Spades” winds down, ‘The Gambler’ brings the microphone to his mouth, listening intently as the Daly City crowd chants his name.
Ace King: I know I didn’t come from here, but I’ve always held FSW in high regard, so it’s always good to come here.
The X-Division Champion nods along with the rabid cheering, looking unusually relaxed in the ring as he leans against the ropes, his gaze trained on the crowd.
Ace King: As you’ve no doubt heard by now, this X-Division Championship is now open season, meaning more opportunities for EWC Superstars to make their names. So, for FSW and Prime…
He pulls the X-Division Championship off his shoulder, then hoists it high for all to see.
Ace King: This isn’t a pipe dream anymore, this is live and in living colour. This is reality. This is the new normal, and it could be yours someday.
The crowd continues cheering for the X-Division Champion as he straightens himself up in the ring.
Ace King: And I know FSW has been home to some elite talent in the past, whether it’s whatever face of Megan Treamon you enjoyed…
Ace pauses as there are largely cheers for the FSW legend, whose statue remains outside the Cow Palace.
Ace King: Maggie Lockheart…
Another polite cheer for the former FSW Champion as Ace simply nods along before adding…
Ace King: One of my great rivals, Xavier Reid…
‘The Gambler’ closes his eyes as he listens to the raucous applause the former FSW and X-Division Champion receives.
Ace King: And who could forget the first FSW alum to become the Undisputed Champion, Melody Malone…
There’s a solid pop for the iconic FSW alumnus as Ace nods along, taking a breath before raising the microphone to his mouth again.
Ace King: And of course, today’s crop of talent features a lot of familiar names like Stitches, Killjoy Ito, Sebastian Conner and the Rayders, along with upstarts like the North American Champion Wes Walker… I know FSW is full of hungry, healthy competition from top to bottom, and I look forward to stepping in the ring with you all.
There’s a polite applause for the X-Division Champion as he waves to the crowd, though his expression gets a bit more serious now.
Ace King: But if you thought the Rage in the Cage match with Xavier Reid at StrangleMania was the new standard… If you thought my match with Luke Wolfe was the new standard… Ladies and gentlemen, we’re just scratching the surface of what my contributions to the X-Division will look like.
There’s an anticipatory buzz in the Cow Palace as Ace climbs up onto a turnbuckle to address the fans once more.
Ace King: Oh yeah, I’m just getting warmed up, because to me, the X-Division is like going back to my roots, the likes of which the majority of FSW’s competitors are planting for themselves right now before your very eyes. That was where I learned the importance of hard work and throwing everything I had into everything I did. That part of me will never change, and I can’t wait to see what you all have to throw at me.
With that, ‘The Gambler’ drops his microphone and casts a stare into the camera while ‘Ace of Spades’ reprises in the background, accompanied by a mostly cheering audience.
Watson: Well, certainly a statement made here tonight by Ace King, who seems to be taking the newfound significance of his championship to heart!
Sydney: And he’s making me want to put a bullet in my brain.
Watson: Well, regardless of how people feel about this, one thing is clear: Ace King is looking to leave his mark on the X-Division.
‘Ace of Spades’ continues as Ace rolls out of the ring, casually greeting fans lining the barricade before disappearing through the crowd as we cut to… (next segment/match)
