CHARACTER INFORMATION
Character Disposition:- - Chaotic Good
A Chaotic Good character will act and behave as they want with little to no regard for what others expect or think of them. They make their own way and follow their own moral compass, but they are typically kind-hearted. They believe in doing what's right, just have no use for laws or regulations. They hate those who force their will upon others.
He can be sarcastic, bitter, and angry, but he can also be kind. He is an Anti-Hero type who is inclined to stick up for weaker people with an often conflicted, but generally good, heart and his own personal code. He hates being disrespected. He struggled with his less than stellar record knowing that he has cost himself more than a few matches due to some kind of moral concerns or inner conflict.
Brief Explanation of Character's Gimmick : Mercer is a nomad who spends most of his time on the road living out of an RV and riding his custom chopper. He never backs down from a fight. He hates striking women and only gets violent with women inside the ring when booked in a match. He has his own honor code of ethics which is both old fashioned and surprisingly liberal. He is something of a quiet and moody loner with a definite troubled past. He's unforgiving but very protective of his friends and loyal to a hard fault. He is well-read, self-educated and much more cerebral than anyone would ever give him credit for by his outward appearance. He has his own code and he lives by it.

Favorite Weapon: Axe handle with a broken head wrapped in tape and barbed wire
Fighting Styles: Powerhouse / Technical-Brawler
Powerhouse Wrestling - Powerhouses show up to kick ass and leave. Combines brawling with big power move (powerbombs, slams, suplex, power kicks) and feats of strength. Powerhouses don't often have much in the tank and can get gassed fast depending on their conditioning, but they do everything in their power to end the match before that point.
Technical-Brawler Style - Pretty much in the name. A brawler with some skills. Will use rest holds, joint locks and submission holds, but when the fight gets serious will tend to fall back on brawling to try to beat their opponents into submission. This style is not as fluid as pure technical wrestling, but it's not as ugly as a straight brawler. It's rarely pretty, but very effective. Full of chops, punches, elbows, ground and pound, stomps, slams, some kicks, some throws. and a few submissions. A Lou Thez Press is also pretty much in every brawler's playbook.
Ring Strategy: He goes in fighting, but will feel out his opponents searching for strengths and weaknesses to see which of his primary skill sets will best benefit him to help him gain the advantage.
In-Ring Strengths: He is surprisingly athletic, fast and agile for a man of his size. Though he will almost always fall back on his brawling he is capable of leaving his feet when he needs to. He has a high threshold for pain and a strong aversion to giving up on the fight (He DOES NOT SUBMIT often and only on extreme and rare occasions.) He is a physically strong and experienced fighter who learned his fighting skills on the streets, behind prison walls, and in two of the most respected training houses in the world: Under Master Tomohiro Suzuki at The Stone Dragon Dojo in Japan and under Josh Steele at The Steele Mill Martial Arts Academy in Oakland. He's not afraid to get hurt and bring the offense to an opponent with a mix of brawling, ground and pound, and submission wrestling aided by his size and strength.
In-Ring Flaws: He was forced to learn how to fight to survive but was not born to it like other fighters. He has a tendency to sometimes hesitate when he should be going in for the kill and that tends to cost him matches he should win. He is also starting to feel his age which may cause him to miss a step at times. He's not afraid to get hurt and bring the offense to an opponent, even when he should leave some distance between them. His temper can sometimes get the better of his instincts and his heart can often get the better of his head in the heat of the moment.

Black Label Society's Fire It Up blasts over the PA. A flashing red strobe lights the stage as the rest of the room goes dark.
The Mercenary
Mercenary swaggers out onto the stage with his face hidden behind a hard tactical mask painted to look like The Punisher's iconic skull logo. His eyes inside the mask scan the crowd. He crosses both arms, gloved fists clenched, across his chest and under his chin. The pose resembles a skull and crossbones. To either side of him the stage explodes in motes of red and orange flame.

Removing the mask the big man salutes the crowd and stalks towards the ring at a steady pace filled with menace and a deadly purpose he climbs between the ropes and walks to the corner where he throws a few shadow punch combos at the turnbuckle before turning with his back to the corner, his arms crossed again across his chest to glower in his opponent's direction and wait for the bell to give him the sign to come out swinging.

The Mercenary
Black Label Society's Fire It Up starts to play as Mercenary rolls out onto the top of the stage astride his custom Harley Davidson. Pausing he salutes the fans with a raised fist before taking off his signature shades and tossing them out to a lucky fan.
Revving the engine while holding the brake Mercenary burns out before rolling down the ramp in a cloud of smoke. Parking the bike at ringside he stomps up the steps, steps through the ropes and again salutes the audience before throwing some shadow punches and preparing for a fight.https://i.imgur.com/9oSpHfX.gif

MINI BIOGRAPHY
Kevin Michael Mercer was born in Knoxville Tennessee to a family that was constantly on the move. His father, Kevin Mercer Sr. was a traveling sales rep who moved the family to California when Mike was a small child in search of his fortune. Not long after the move his Father left on a business trip from which he never returned. His mother fell into a deep depression revealing her family history of mental illness. She became addicted to drugs and had a string of boyfriends who were not always good to her. From his early teens Mike fell into to role of caregiver for his mother, balancing his difficult home life with the dangers of the West Oakland neighborhood they found themselves living in. Mike was bullied daily by gang members and local bullies and after being forced to take part in a strong arm robbery as a lookout he ended up in a juvenile detention center. While he was incarcerated his mother died of a drug overdose and he was not allowed to go to the funeral. He never forgave himself for not being there for his mother in her final days. When he graduated from the camp Mike found himself drawn to the world of professional fighting as a way of focusing his demons. At 19 he started training at The Steele Mill Martial Arts & Wrestling Academy, an MMA and Professional Wrestling school where he was trained by Josh Steele and his son Jason (Jay) Steele in the art of in ring combat sports. He also found a trusted friend in Jay, something that was very rare for the reserved young man.
He continued to excel at amateur MMA and Indy Wrestling in the United States and Canada with Forged In Fire Wrestling until he was given a chance to go to Japan to train at The Stone Dragon Dojo where he apprenticed with Tomohiro Suzuki. While in Japan he formed a tag team with his partner Keith "Malice" Reede. They became known as The Terrible Two, and under that name they went on to win several tag team honors in their host company, Honor Japan Pro Wrestling, and many other Japanese federations. Mercenary would bring his partner along after getting signed to the upstart IIW organization back in the United States, where they continued their success under the name Damage Incorporated. They won the tag team titles together and as a solo act Mercenary won several singles titles, including the IIW World Heavyweight Championship.
But the team had a falling out and would later break up after the "Nightmare" incident in which Mercenary, at the urging of Lacey and Malice and caught up in the sheer violence of the moment, power-bombed a wrestler named Nightmare Curtis Monroe over the top rope through a table on the floor. Monroe hit the concrete, fracturing vertebrae in his neck and damaging his lower back and spinal chord. He was paralyzed as a result of the move. Mercer found himself unable to forgive or forget what he had done to another competitor. When Malice used the accident to sell how dangerous their team was in a promo, Merc was so disturbed and angered that he left the team and for a time the wrestling business.
He worked security for several bands and as a bouncer before being called back to the business. He wrestled in Japan, Canada, Mexico, The UK and all across the United States for any fed that would have him, but he was never the same man, nor the same fighter that he had been before the "Nightmare" Incident. He could never settle down for long, constantly moving from place to place as a journeyman and a nomad.
When not on the road he lived in a small apartment suite above Club 9 Circles, a night spot and bar that he bought with former IIW stable mates Thorn, his wife The "Lady" Nightshade, and Leather Cordowan (A young woman whom he once saved from an abusive boyfriend, an act that put him behind bars for a brief stay, and whom had later adopted him as kind of a mentor/surrogate older brother/crush. (It's complicated.) Together they made up a sort of surrogate Adams Family for the Lonely Wolf, giving him a taste of "the pack" that he had been seeking most of his life. This was where the Mercenary was in late 2018 when he signed with the EWC.
In 2019 his life went through something of a significant change. He had returned to wrestling but was not really himself. His debut in the FSW was marked by several losses, including one to Melody Malone in her debut match. After a shameful and strange showing in the main event at the season finale of FSW Uprising Mercenary ghosted FSW for a time returning with a dark new mood and accompanied by a mysterious woman named Dalilah Ashe who seemed to bring out the best of the worst parts of his personality. His friends, if he had any that were now speaking to him, might say that she was seemingly leading him down a dangerous and tumultuous road.
One by one he drove away all of his old friends-the ones who really knew him best- most notably Leather Cordowan, the young woman whom he had "rescued", and the person who had introduced him to Dalilah in the first place. This left room in his life for only Dalilah and a constant need to be who she told him he needed to be. Her first desire was a return to those joys that only violence could bring-- a return to all the things he had been trying to escape from. He was now alone with his obsession, his true nature battling with his new self. Later on in the year he found himself (At Dalilah's insistence.) becoming a somewhat reluctant member of The FEUD alongside Dalilah, his former partner Malice, and Malice's current partner Mayhem. Under the influence of this new make-shift "family" his personality started to change. At heart he was still a "good" guy, but that person was over time locked away by the individual he was steadily becoming.
But after meeting Dalilah and joining The F.E.U.D. he continued to become a much different person. His true heart remained at war with his new self which cost him several opportunities to improve his spot in the EWC. All throughout 2019 he fought with a distracted fury unleashed by Dalilah's influence, but was at times unable to relinquish the sense of guilt that had been holding him down for years causing it to be a very anti-climactic chapter in his career. His dual nature tended to aid his opponents and while at war with himself he was often defeated by his own uncertainty and he failed to achieve the titles that he fought so hard to attain.
In 2020, following a cage match with Wes Walker at the season finale of FSW, Mercenary gave in to his dark side after the fans and other wrestlers took pleasure in Dalilah Ashe's fall from the top of the cage that caused her to sustain a concussion and several cracked ribs. After a roller coaster ride of wins and loses Merc and Dalilah had a private and personal falling out and seemingly separated for a short time at the same time that Damage Inc took a hiatus back to Japan. Without Dalilah's influence and with The Feud on the back burner, Mercenary was again all alone, causing him to re-evaluate his path and plans. When he came back he was a very angry man, but there was an ease to his anger that finally seemed to fit. He fought his way to the end of 2020 where he fought Robby Rayder for the North American title in a five star match that saw him coming ups short of the gold yet again.
2021 began on a down note as Merc was booted from the F.E.U.D. in a bloody beat down orchestrated by an old enemy from his past. That led to a revenge program against his former allies who were now being directed by The Malevolent Mister Maxxwell, an old rival who had been Curtis Monroe's tag partner and had become Mayhem's mentor. Maxxwell was bent on ruining any kind of run that the Mercenary might have in the EWC. Insult was added to injury when he was betrayed by Dalilah and it was revealed that she had been a part of Savage and Maxxwell's plan to isolate and tear him down the entire time. Their feud ended at the Uprising 2021 PPV when Mercenary teamed with the unlikely partner Wes Walker to take on Damage Inc who went on to beat them with help from Dalilah Ashe and a steel chair.
2021 proved to be a hard road for the Ol' Street Dog with defeats against Damage Inc, Isabella and King Flip but Merc was now looking at life from a very different perspective. He had decided to take on the role of a working class hero, dubbing himself "The Hitman", claiming he was always willing to take the hit for those who couldn't. Bravely plugging forward he became dedicated to the idea that as a Street Dog and Blue Collar Jobber he could become an example for the regular Joe fans and prove to them that if you keep working and keep fighting that anything is possible.
His new attitude won him a CW Broadcast title shot in Phuket at Parabellum 2021 and carried him to a victory over legendary Lucha Libre grappler El Pablo on Paramount 10. He seemed all set to win his first title, but after a back and forth bout with David Miller at Night of Champions; Following a set of epic promos chronicling his journey from Mexico, across the United Kingdom, all the way to Japan, he again fell just short of reaching his golden goal.
Feeling the weight of his failures he was determined to struggle on. He lost to Jason Hunter following a bout of heavy drinking and was defeated by Isabella in Brazil. Feeling the need to shake things up Mercenary took the biggest risk of his EWC career by challenging CW Broadcast Champion James Keaton to a title match, putting his spot on the Paramount roster on the line at the Season 22 finale in Madison Square Garden. After a vicious and violent battle he again fell short of a title victory and was forced by stipulation to leave his home at Paramount Wrestling.
Returning to Brazil for Wrestlefest as a man without a country Mercenary split the decision in the Mac Invitational Ladder Match with his long time rival Gabrielle Visconty, which once again put a guaranteed title shot some time in his future.
Season 23 took him to the Rampage roster where he cashed in his title shot on Sam Hamilton's U.S. Title. But an unexpected player was also in his way in the number 1 contender Darna Dare. Dare beat Mercenary in a warm up match on the go home Rampage before Stranglemania where Merc was booked to face Darna Dare and Sam Hamilton in a Light Tubes Death Match for the title. But just days before the match Hamilton found out she was pregnant and had to give up the title and pull out of the match. Thrown off by the last minute change Mercenary was not fully prepared for the preternatural talents of Darna Dare who kept him again from winning the title.
Mercenary returned to Rampage where he was booked against Melody Malone in her 100th match. He was once again defeated despite his best efforts. Disheartened and nursing a nagging knee injury left over from Stranglemania, along with a frustrating losing streak, he nevertheless went into Rampage 500 to gain an upset win over Moxie to advance in the B.O.R.T. 2 Tournament to beat Jason Hunter in the next round. But his winning streak was brought to an end when he again failed to win the US Title when he was pinned in an upset loss to Lavender.
After that he went on to Scars and Stripes to beat Phoenix Winterborne and Tanja Devereaux to win a shot at the HBO Broadcast title which he also failed to win in the rubber match against Jason Hunter.
He was invited to take part in Brand Warfare as part of defending champs Team Rampage but the uncertain team of odd partners failed to three-peat at Parabellum.
He went on to lose to Ace King in Mexico before getting eliminated 20th overall at The Rumble.
He came back on another short winning streak beating Aeon Khronos in Qatar and Dean Judas at the Rampage Season Finale where he took home 50 thousand dollars and a brand new Harley.
He ended the season being booked as part of Ruthann Hunter's last match at Wrestlefest where they fought in a 4 way for an opportunity to run an episode of Rampage. Focusing on Ruthann in the match he overlooked Andrea Hernandez who pinned Matthieson to beat both veterans for the win.
Season 24 again saw The EWC Outlaw in an uncertain place on Rampage. He was thrown straight into the fire on the opening night of the season by being put up against Brawl's King Flip. The new International Champion quickly made it known that the feud between them was personal and the two went at it in a hard and bitter contest until a distraction from Chanel gave Flip the upper hand he needed to win the match.
The next week Rampage saw the animosity between Mercenary and Flip continue with some backstage fisticuffs and a post match scuffle. In between Mercenary won an opportunity to face Lavender for the United States Title at Stranglemania by pinning Andrea Hernandez in a scramble match that also included Autumn Raven, Jamie Love and Luke Saito. He was again closely defeated by Lavender at Stranglemania in a cage match.
With his season seemingly stalled Mike was blindsided in his personal life when he found out that his absentee father, Kevin Mercer Sr, had passed away. At the same time he found out that his father had another family, complete with an adult son named Brian, who had a family of his own. Suddenly faced with the prospect of becoming a brother and and Uncle Michael decided to throw himself instead into his work.
Determined to break away from the pack he entered the field in B.O.R.T. 3, winning the first two rounds by defeating Vin Havoc and Jamie Love. He survived a four way match in round 3 and pinned Andrea Hernandez in round 4 to make it into the finals, which turned out to be a War Games style death match with iron man rules. Unbeknownst to him his friend Jay conspired with his current girlfriend Mia to fly his new family out for the show.
At the end of the ultra-violent affair Mercenary, inspired by the presence of his family, finally found himself becoming a champion. But it was an honor he was forced to share with the upstart Vin Havoc until Meltdown in Mexico 2, where he defeated his new friend in a hardcore match to win the B.O.R.T. tournament and become sole owner of the United States Championship.
Mercenary's solo title run was short lived however, as he dropped the title to "The Elite" Chris Page at the Rumble PPV in Arrowhead Stadium. From there he went on the claim his Undisputed Title shot at Uncensored against the winner of the Rumble match Xavier Reid, fighting him to a no contest tie and earning him the first shot at the Undisputed Championship following the triple threat match at Wrestlefest in 2024.
What does the new year have in store for the Mercenary? We'll just have to wait and see.
