Narrator: What a bloody mess that match was. JoJo found himself in the locker room immediately after his match with Dean Judas. He looked down at his bare hands with apathy. With the blood cleaned off, you could see his knuckles were bruised and a bit swollen. The pain was there, but JoJo felt-- well he felt nothing. He felt so numb. It didn't bring him the catharsis he needed. The Cowboy wasn't the type to yell and break stuff when he was mad. His rage was quiet, but it was volatile, like looking at a hand grenade during the three to five seconds before it explodes. JoJo sat there in silence until his phone began to ring. It was Hank, JoJo's old coach. JoJo answered the phone, putting it on speaker.
Hank: Johnny what the hell were you doing!?
Uh oh, Hank only ever pulls out "Johnny" when JoJo has especially fucked up.
Hank: I couldn't believe what I was seeing, that is some outlaw shit Johnny! That's not how we do things, you know this!
JoJo sat in silence, knowing that when Hank flew off the handle it was best just to let him tire himself out.
Hank: That isn't who you are kid, Judas might be some punk but that crossed the line! You're supposed to be better than that. I was in a locker room with the McDoyle brothers and I managed to refrain from sockin' them both. There's nothing that can excuse what you did! If you were still in my gym, I would have you running sucidies until you--
JoJo: He pissed on Eli's grave.
Oh
Hank: Oh
JoJo: Ah did what ah had to do. No more, no less. It was a measured response.
Hank was disarmed almost immediately. Hank could only imagine what he would have done if someone did anything to his daughter, Serena's resting place. JoJo's tone was stoic and his breathing.
Hank: I uh-- ah kid, I'm sorry about that.
JoJo: You know Ah'm not a good person, Hank... you should know that better than anybody else.
Hank: Kid, are you okay? Talk to me, I've been around the block and seen some bad dudes and you're not that.
JoJo: Ah killed Eli, Hank...
Hank: Kid, you can't bear that kind of weight.
JoJo: Why not? Ah'm a murderer, Hank. Ah committed fratricide. Ah didn't mean to do it, but that don't change what happened. He's gone, and he's gone because of the choices Ah made, Hank.
Hank: Jon, you got me really worried. What hotel are you staying at? I'll move some money around and I'll fly right out. We can get this sorted out, kid, I promise.
Hank's voice was clearly shaken and disturbed. Hank was no stranger to fighting with demons, but this felt different to the Slammer.
JoJo: Judas brought that upon himself. It was his actions, his choices that lead to Judas being nothing more than a fucking smear in that ring. When ah chose mercy, and professionalism, the rest of the locker room called me a joke, a walking, talking tomato can to pad their records. They mistook my kindness fer weakness... Judas only did what he thought he could get away with. Folks around these here parts need to know that if ah can kill mah own flesh and blood, there's nothing ah won't do to anybody that gets between me and Eli's dream. Not Judas, not Moxie, not Bloody Sureiyāzu, and especially not Morgan Darkwater.
Hank: Do you think Judas can even think at all after what you did to him? People can grow, people can change. Look at how far you've came. You lived through some pretty heavy shit, Jon. But you came out the other side a better man. You don't need to resort to excessive violence. Let's talk about this over some lunch, I'll--
JoJo: People don't change, we can try to tell ourselves otherwise, but we'll always be the sum of our choices. Try as hard as Ah might, Ah'll always be a killer, a no-good sumbitch. Ah might as well put that evil to work. It's best you don't watch me on yer TV anymore. You ain't gon' like seein' what Ah'm willin' to do fer mah brother.
Hank: Jon, I'm-- *click*
JoJo hung up the phone and subsequently turned off the device. The young Outlaw knew he had burned yet another bridge. But it didn't matter to him. There was no room for mentors, friends, or even family. The only thing that mattered was the gold. JoJo got undressed and went to clean himself in the showers. He had one last bridge to burn, but it can only truly begin to burn with a match at Wrestlefest XX.
