"Your Hero, and Mine."
For the first time in a long time, I felt content. And feeling content was something rare, something I never allowed myself to delve into - but in that moment, everything was right and as I looked up towards the camera a smile beckoned from my lips. Another rarity, as this was a genuine smile, nothing sadistic about it, nothing twisted or even the slightest bit fake.
"I've got an opportunity here." I started, pausing as I leaned forward on my chair and clasped my hands together. It was only me and the camera; behind us a Lions Road logo'd back drop. "An opportunity to cement my name in the archives on this promotion, an opportunity to be great again, to be champion. It is the greatest honor in our profession; being heralded a champion, it's something that the special ones among us, will have the privilege of experiencing time after time after time. It's why we're in this business, we wanna accomplish as much as we possibly can, right?"
Rhetorically I asked, pausing to allow the question to sink into the viewers mind.
"September 29th, I step inside that four sided ring at Wild Hunt against Corey Cruelty for that Heritage title. A title, he has so prestigious in his reign and because of that, he has garnered the finest recognition a professional can attain. For someone of his age, someone of his infancy; he's gone on to make that title mean something more - he's defined it, and because of that I respect him.
You have set the standard, mister Cruelty.
And you're one of the men I wanted to come up against when I came back to this promotion, because you were the kid that everybody was talking about and you still are. Everybody believes that you are the future of professional wrestling and you're proving that with your record, and what you're doing inside that ring. You're the future, and you've still got a long way to go. But that's then Corey.. let's talk about now."
I'd shown too much respect, something others would neglect but I wasn't afraid to put it out there. But it was time to tell my honest truth and I bowed my head, licking my dry lips before coming up once again; overtaken by tenacity.
"Everything is temporary, Corey." I preached, something I strongly believed in. "Your impressive record that you've got, temporary. Your whole goth look you've got going on, something I experimented with too I should add, temporary. Your reign as Heritage champion, temporary.
It's all temporary man, you've gotta remember that.
All good things must come to an end and I've had my fair share of falls but I've always got back up, stronger and better. And September 29th Corey, that's the night where you fall, for the very first time under the hands of Mark Storm. You've gotta fall someday kid, but it ain't gonna be out of your own will - it'll be because I threw you up onto my shoulders, threw you up into the air and then drove my knee into your skull."
Beginning to sound sadistic, I paused for a moment.
"You talk about how I don't have my heart in this promotion and maybe you're right. Maybe, I am just a guest star. I'm not like you, Corey. I'm not going to stay here for the rest of my career because I can't be tied down. I love this place, don't get me wrong. But I also love professional wrestling. I love, my job. It's my addiction, it's my drug and like I said, everything is temporary Corey - and I haven't got time to waste time. I'm trying to be the best wrestler that's ever lived on every single damn continent. It ain't just about making an impact in one place anymore, it's about global domination!
But Lions Road, has been good to me.
And because of that, I'm not going anywhere.
And with that Heritage title in sight, I'm just getting started!
You're blinded Corey. But that's what happens, y'know.. when you're in the dark, you can't see anything. You wanna resemble the darkness that beckons with the storm, then go for it! I'll be the light at the end of it, the inevitable light that proceeds and always succeeds. I won't let you ensue the darkness. I'm the beacon of hope, Corey. The darkness, is coming to an end.
