2049
The moon shined overhead as the woman leaned against her car, looking over the edge of the cliff. She stood in silence; this road was closed because of the dangerous curves as it wound to the bottom. A tear rolled down Jessica Tendonin’s face as she called up memories of those who were no longer around. The Paraguayan was over sixty years old now, and so many she had loved and cared for, were gone. She had never felt so lonely in her life. She didn’t turn as she heard another car approaching.
The Benz came to a stop and was powered down, but the driver didn’t exit yet. A few moments later, the door opened and a six foot greying brunette stepped out. At sixty four years old, even though she was retired from active competition, Candice Kingston Tendonin was still revered in the world of MMA. She walked strongly toward Jessica, stopping beside her.
Neither woman spoke, but after a few minutes, tears were falling rapidly down Jessica’s face. Candice remained silent still, but Jessica spoke a moment later.
Jessica: I don’t know what to do. I can’t go on like this, Candice.
Candice knew what her master and sister meant. When Jessica was thirty five, her parents and brother died in a fire at their home. Three years later, her father’s parents passed away, months apart, form natural causes. Then, when Jessica was forty, her older sister Ashley was diagnosed with Cancer, and four years later, she perished. But the heartache didn’t end there.
On Jessica fiftieth birthday, Lucius was involved in a traffic accident which resulted in his death, making her a widow. At that point, she still had most of her Dragon’s and her children, but not for long. The Dragon’s were hunted down one by one and murdered. Then, Jessica oldest daughter was raped in college and committed suicide.
This drove Jessica second daughter to commit suicide as well, as the two sisters’ connection was just as strong as their mother and aunt’s was. Jessica’s son was involved in a bank robbery, as a victim, and he was one of the first to be killed. This broke Jessica’s heart and caused her to have a temporary breakdown where she wouldn’t speak, for any reason.
Then, the time came when only four Dragon’s remained; Jessica, Candice, Urakih, and AJ Ames. The four were traveling and had been ambushed. Jessica youthful rages had caught up to her, as an old rival had been taking out her crew and had finally gotten to her. AJ was shot and killed instantly, while Jessica, Candice, and Urakih were abducted.
Jessica and Candice were then forced to watch as Urakih, the tough Japanese woman who had left a trail of blood across the world, was hacked to pieces before their eyes. The same fate may have awaited Jessica and Candice, but Candice’s husband, Jason Tendonin, managed to rescue them, but not before he sacrificed himself so they could go free. Jessica was now sixty-six years old, and lonely. She looked over to Candice and gave her a sad look.
Jessica: I’ve got nothing left, Candice. I’ve got less than I had when we started this journey over forty years ago.
Candice: Alcatelia told us we would make sacrifices.
Jessica: Having my children murdered, raped, and commit suicide is a sacrifice? Tell me, how did it feel seeing Jason murdered as he helped us get free?
Candice didn’t speak. Jessica didn’t press her old friend. She’d asked her to meet her here, but she would not obligate her to follow her on this journey any longer. Her mind was made up.
Jessica: I can’t live this life anymore, Candice. I want to be free of this world, of all the painful memories it has created for me. I just…I need to be free. You are my last living connection to this world, Candice, my old friend. You are the last surviving member of the Sisterhood I created. That’s why I asked you here tonight.
Candice nodded, having a sinking feeling about where this was going.
Jessica: The Creed was we ride together, and we die together. I won’t hold you to that anymore. I would, however, like to take one more ride with one of my sisters. This is a dangerous road. I’ll either die but going over the edge, or, if by some miracle, I make it to the bottom…I’ve brought my VTAC.
Jessica looked Candice in the eye, and Candice knew she was serious. There would be no changing her mind or stopping her. This was a very determined woman, and she was going to go through with it. Candice smiled and embraced her only friend in the world.
Candice: We ride, we die. Together.
Jessica’s tears flowed more now as the two separated. The two didn’t say another word and they returned to their cars. Jessica had had her Challenger rebuilt, and it was that which she had driven on this night. She lowered the window, and Candice did the same.
Jessica: If we make it to the bottom, you do not have to repeat what I do, my friend. I love you, and will not obligate you to do so.
Candice nodded and both raised their windows. Jessica cried now in her car, knowing that she could still turn back, but knowing that there was nothing for her to turn back to. She reached for the container holding her old favorite drink; lemonade and tequila. After drinking several mouthfuls of it, she sealed it again. Then, she turned the engine over and powered up her beast. As she began driving, Jessica’s memories flooded before her eyes.
The day she and Lucius had met; their first date; her first kiss; their wedding; buying their home; Jessica becoming pregnant and giving birth to three adorable little children; Candice marrying Jason. But there were also the bad memories. The day Emilia had died in the ring during a tag team match; hearing the news of her families deaths. Jessica and Candice were nearly halfway down when it began to rain, making the road slippery.
Both women were driving fast, and the rain made their path even more dangerous. They were nearly to the bottom when Jessica yanked the wheel over, and burst through the railing. Candice followed the action and went over the side with her. The two cars tumbled six hundred feet to the bottom of the mountain, and they were gone before reaching the bottom.

In the Dragon Religion of Old, there was no afterlife. You just died. There were no reincarnations, no second chances, no coming back, nothing. You just died. You didn’t go to hell, you didn’t go to Heaven, and you didn’t exist in purgatory. You just…died. Knowing this the moment before she died, Jessica was all amazed when she opened her eyes.
The woman was surrounded by blindingly white lights and clouds. She slowly sat up, and then she noticed to her left was…Candice. But, she looked different. She looked the same as she had on her wedding day, when she was thirty years old. Candice sat up, looking at Jessica. Before either woman could say anything, a golden gateway appeared before them, and they turned their attention to it as it began opening.
Two people stood in the doorway, two tall men dressed in white and halos above their heads. The clouds hid their faces for a time, but when they cleared, there was no mistaking them. Standing at the gates of Heaven, waiting to welcome them into the Kingdom of the Almighty, were Lucius and Jason Tendonin. The brothers smiled and held out their arms, beckoning their wives to them, at which point both women jumped to their feet and ran into their arms.
Jessica ran with tears streaming down her face. There he was, right before her. Her husband. She met him at the gate and embraced him and Jason and Candice did the same. Lucius held his wife out for a moment, studying her.
Lucius: My Jessica, with me at last. We’ve been very lonely without you.
Jessica: We?
Lucius: You didn’t think I was alone, did you?
Just inside the gate, but hidden behind clouds, Jessica could make out three forms, two feminine and one male. Her eyes went back to Lucius, and he nodded. Now, she outright dragged him inside the gate as she ran to meet her babies for the first time in years. Jessica II, Ashley, and Lucius Jr. All three of them were there, looking at they had when they were still teenagers.
Jessica: My babies!
All: Mother!
And the five of them all hugged each other tightly, now. Jessica could not explain her elation. Nor did she think it could get any higher, but then…
Voice: Hey, you forgetting about someone?
Jessica looked up, and her elation flared like a rocket. Her sister, Ashley, and behind her, their baby brother and parents. Jessica looked over at Candice, who was hugging her son and daughter. They caught each other’s eye and smiled. The gates behind them closed, and now, more people appeared to welcome them into Heaven. Jessica was surprised to find out, hours later, that there was a wrestling league in Heaven. Namely, the Heavenly Wrestling Association. The reigning Champion? Adatu Urakih.
