So here we are New Year’s Eve inside some fancy restaurant. There are couples all around enjoying a meal out before 2017 arrives. Sitting at one of the corner tables, which is somewhat secluded from the others, is none other than Zolton and Nevaeh. By the looks of things, they have finished their meal and are making small talk over a glass of wine. After chuckling over some inside joke, Zolton sets his wine glass down on the table.
“Soooo…”
He seems a bit hesitant to continue with what he’s saying, so Nev tries to guide him along.
“What is it?”
There is a bit more hesitation before Zolton takes a breath and goes to speak again.
“Did you ever hear back from that EWC yet?”
“Of course, I did. The day after I mentioned it to you.”
“Why haven’t you said anything?”
Nev thinks over her response for a moment as she sips on her wine. After setting her own glass aside, Nev goes to speak again.
“Because I didn’t want to ruin the holidays for us.”, she answers with a heavy sigh, “You seemed pretty against the whole idea.”
“So you’re still going?”
“Why wouldn’t I be? I don’t make a habit of signing contracts and then not holding up my end of the commitments. The first Prime show I need to be at is January 22nd. So I’m going to fly out to where I need be and do what needs to be done when the time comes.”
“I can’t believe this! I was hoping you’d rethink your decision!”, he replies seemingly irritated.
As Zolton shifts a bit uncomfortably in his seat, Nev reaches across the table to take his hand.
“Are we really going to go through all this again? You knew this day would come! You really need to start accepting this.”
Zolton slips his hand out from under hers as he angrily pushes his chair back and stands abruptly. He looks down at Nev for a long moment, holding her gaze, before finally speaking.
“I dunno if I can do that!”
With that being said, Zolton walks away from the table leaving her sitting there. As couples from surrounding tables started glancing over in her direction, Nev picks up her wine glass back up from the table and downs the rest of its contents. Good thing she had her checkbook with her. Looks like she was going to need it to pay the bill and the cab ride home. This was definitely not the New Year’s turnout she was expecting. Nev was seen pouring herself another glass of wine as the scene comes to an end.
