With each methodical, rhythmic tick that echoes through the trailer, it shows just how silent the house is in the middle of the night. Tossing and turning in his King sized bed, the large Robert Forlorn grabs a handful of the white sheets and tosses them off of his body. Sitting up, he swings his legs off of the bed and sits there for a moment with his head resting in his large hands. Rising to his feet, he stumbles into the bathroom and turns the light on immediately looking at himself in the mirror.
”Ah fuck man!”
Turning on the water, he splashes his face and then takes another look into the mirror as he immediately looks away, not liking what he sees. Exiting the bathroom, he walks back into his bedroom and exits out into the hall as the ticking sound grows louder. Ignoring it as he’s used to it, he walks down the hall a few feet when suddenly, a small voice can be heard loud and clear.
”DADDY! DADDY!”
Sounding like the child is in distress, Robert rounds the corner like a bad out of hell as he stops dead in his tracks once he’s standing in a smaller room that belonged to a child. Looking down at everything through the darkness, there's a small bed, many toys littered across the floor and an adorable little Teddy Bear sitting on the bed, up at the head of the bed. Swallowing hard, he realizes that the tiny voice calling out to him was simply his imagination and that his little boy is not here, not anymore. Stumbling into the bedroom, he walks over to the small bed and bends down grabbing the Teddy Bear in his massive hands.
”I… I’m sorry son, I wasn't there to protect you!”
Continuing to hold the Teddy gently, he knew that it was his son’s so he is very gentle with it. With tears welling up in his eyes, he immediately places the bear back onto the bed and turns away from the bedroom. Exiting it, he stumbles into the kitchen and quickly grabs a bottle of Jack Daniels. Twisting the cap off, he places the bottle to his lips and takes a large drink as the alcohol begins to numb the pain.
Taking in a deep breath, he reaches up with his large arm and brushes away the tears while sliding down the wall until he is sitting on the floor with a bottle of Jack in his hands. Lowering his head, he clinches his fists and closes his eyes, wishing that the pain would go away.
