”I KNEW IT!”
Immediately looking up from what he’s doing, Stevenson turns his head looking back over his shoulder to see his longtime friend, Mark Robertson standing there with a huge grin expressed along his chubby face. At this point in time, Stevenson knows that Robertson found out but then again; he didn't really try to hide it all that well either so it's whatever to him.
”There’s a lot of things you could know Mark, especially since you’re a smart guy — so what are you referring to exactly?”
Leaning up after tying his shoes, he turns his large frame towards Mark who rolls his eyes at the fact that Stevenson just blatantly avoided the question. Walking into the room and taking a seat next to his best friend, he looks directly into his dark brown eyes as Stevenson starts feeling kind of strange.
”Um… Are you okay Mark? This look in your eyes — well — yeah, it's kind of creepy.”
Causing Mark to chuckle, he shakes his head and replies.
”Of course I’m okay, in fact, I’m pretty FANTASTIC right now.”
Looking up and to the left, Stevenson is now lost, maybe his “return” isn't what Mark is referring to.
”Yeah? Why is that?”
Arching his brow, he immediately tries to figure out just what in the hell is going on — especially since Mark is never this excited about something.
”Because…”
Throwing up his hands, he looks dumbfounded.
”Because what? You can't just end a sentence with what, especially when something amazing has seemingly happened.”
Shrugging his shoulders, Mark smiles and responds.
”I just wanted to throw you off. Hell, I already knew that you were looking to return BUT — you stayed “retired” longer than you ever have this time: a record setting — THREE WEEKS; congratulations!”
Golf clapping sarcastically, Mark already knew that Stevenson would be back, especially since he's still young and in his prime which is pretty strange for an eleven year veteran. Placing his hands together after clapping, this causes Stevenson to lightly punch Mark in the arm while chuckling.
”So… Where you headed? What's the goal this time?”
Immediately responding, it was pretty obvious that Stevenson had given this a lot of thought ever since he had some free time.
”Well… I would LOVE to see the tag team scene boom again, like it did back in the day, you know? I mean, yeah, I don't even have the details really thought out yet or even a partner picked out for that matter but still —you know what I’m talking about.”
Mark nods his head.
”I do know and you know that I support you brother. The tag scene though? Hm… You know what? I like it! You could REALLY change the scene, especially since you have this knack, this talent to piss people off on a whim. I think you’ll do great so long as you can find a reliable partner.”
Speaking the gospel, that's what Stevenson is worried about as well.
”Yeah, I know, that's my biggest worry as well. I’ve only had a couple of people throughout my career that I could really trust and they're gone so I don't even know who I’ll pick yet.”
Using some hand gestures, he reaches up to scratch his chin.
”But I guess it’ll just “happen”, right? Or that's what I’m hoping anyway?”
Laughing a tiny bit, he immediately stops and rises to his feet. Following suit, Mark keeps walking with him as they continue to converse with one another.
”Well I can help you look if you want? I mean, I know you have more followers than I do but I can still try if you want?”
Looking over at Mark while nodding his head, he smiles and agrees with him.
”Yeah brother, that would be amazing, thank you!”
Smiling, he motions in that “don't worry about it” sense to his best friend.
”Don't worry about it brother. You know I will always do what I can to ensure that you have everything you could ever ask for in the business.”
Knowing that is true, Stevenson looks over at Mark and nods his head as both men walk to a set of large doors which lead outside.
”I know brother and like I have said before, I really appreciate it. As you know, it's really hard to find “true” friends in the business so I appreciate you standing by my side throughout all these years.”
Reaching over and patting Mark on the back, this causes Mark to smile as both men walk through the parking lot heading to their vehicles.
”It's always my pleasure because if it wasn't for you then I would have never broken into the business to begin with, but that's a story for another time. However, I am kind of curious, where exactly are you planning on going?”
Looking over at Stevenson who is walking with a purpose, Stevenson then glances at him in return and shrugs his massive shoulders as even he isn't too sure where he is going to go yet.
”Hell, I’m not sure yet, you know? We’ll see which contract offers come in and then I will make my decision. Things are going to be different this time around, I don't want to spread myself too thin to the point where I have to travel from place to place every single day: you know what I'm saying?”
Nodding his head, of course he understands because Mark used to travel with him as well and Stevenson’s schedule used to be incredibly hectic to the point that it began to wear his body down.
”Oh yeah, I know exactly what you're talking about. I used to travel with you and it was exhausting even on my end and I never had to step inside the ring or anything like that. Regardless, whoever ends up signing you will be in a much better predicament then when they didn’t have you.”
Simply nodding his head, Stevenson already knew that was the truth, even if many people around the business were too ignorant to see that. Arriving at his large emerald green Hummer, Stevenson pulls his keys out of his pocket and then looks over at Mark one last time.
”I’m not worried about a couple of haters, you know how they are? But yeah brother, I don't know exactly where I will wind up yet but I do know this much; wherever I go? I’m going to make sure that it's best for my schedule and career — but until then, you take it easy brother and I will catch you later.”
Smiling softly at his best friend, Stevenson then hops into his Hummer and starts the engine. Walking off to his own vehicle, Mark does the same as both individuals slowly back out and drive away after having that nice little chat.
