The pendulum swings back and forth, creating this little ticking sound that is very methodical in nature. It repeats the same rhythm time in and time out, never missing a single tick which is highly impressive for such a simple device. As it sits on the table, it has Stevenson entrance which makes him think about everything that has gone on as of late and needless to say; he never expected to come back to the business so soon but deep down? He should've known.
Here's the thing about Stevenson, if you know him even the slightest, you know just how much that he loves the wrestling business and just how hard it is for him to give up. Everyone has something they are addicted to: some are addicted to cigarettes, some are addicted to drugs, others are addicted to smaller things but everyone has an addiction that they just can't kick and wrestling is his.
Lying on an elongated leather sofa, with his head placed on the arm, he continues to stare at this pendulum which makes his mind race with all kinds of thoughts, good and bad of course.
”Are you sure you’re for this? I mean, you JUST “retired” and already, you’re looking to dive in head first?”
With his conscience speaking to him, he simply lies there on the sofa letting it talk, making sure that this is the right thing to do.
”Yeah man, I think so. I mean, nobody knows me better than you — hell, you ARE me so I would say that this is a very fair assumption, definitely the right question to ask.”
With his left eye twitching just a little bit, that pendulum man, it definitely has a strong trancing effect on him which is exactly what he wanted so he could get in touch with his inner self.
”Yes, I am you and of course, I want what's best for you because let's face it — if it's bad for you then it's definitely bad for me and I don't want that. But I do ask you; did you REALLY think this through or was it another one of your “follow your heart” and see where it goes routines?”
Having never thought of it that way, he slightly snaps out of his trance with that very question in mind. Letting out a low grunt, he sits up on the sofa and reaches up with both of his hands to rub his eyes since he just “woke” up per se. Placing his hands down on the cool leather of the sofa, he rises to his feet and heads to the kitchen to grab himself a much needed drink.
”Whatever you decide to do man, make sure that you are ready because normally you dive in headfirst and yeah; things normally go well for you at first but then what, huh?”
Taking it in a deep breath which causes his large frame to extract outwards, he reaches the refrigerator and pulls it open grabbing himself one of those little bottles of Coca-Cola which always quenches his thirst. Twisting the bright red cap off of the bottle, he places it up to his lips and tilts his head back taking a drink.
”You know what I think? You’re ready man. You are in quite possibly the best shape of your life, definitely your career and even Mark said it — you should have never left to begin with but you did and that's okay because now you are rectifying the problem. Do what you have always done, follow your heart because this is the path you need to be on and this is the spotlight you NEED and deep down? You know I’m right!”
With that last voice in his head resonating the loudest, he pulls the bottle of Coca-Cola away from his mouth and feels better than he has in quite a while. He knows he's ready, he knows that he still has what it takes to not only “hang” with the best but to beat them as well and the more he thinks about it — this is one global piece of territory that Stevenson has never conquered before and in his mind?
That simply wouldn't do!
