Although I wasn't booked to compete for roughly three weeks, here I was, waiting in the terminal for a flight. Why? You may ask. Well, I had been asked - along with many other members of the Prime roster - to take part in the Lumberjack Match between Trixie and Prince for the Indy Championship as one of the lumberjacks. Truth be told, I would have preferred an actual match, that is where I excel, but I can settle for merely being involved in the show. There is always next year. My time to shine under the brightest of lights will soon draw near.
There was still quite the wait until I was to be called to board the plane. It was always best to be early than rushing in late and missing a flight. My career, my profession, my lifestyle all depends on me getting to shows and competing so I couldn't afford to miss a show, no matter the excuse. This mindset, however, didn't seem to rub off on others as I watch people rush by me, the signs of stress clearly across their face, as they attempt to make their flights.
But here I was, headphones jammed into my ears, reminiscing over the week that had been. What a week or so it had been since I initially signed my name on the dotted line and officially became a member of the EWC roster. It had all been a blur but I had enjoyed every minute of it so far. I had been no stranger to making a good first impression though and although others may have doubted me, I didn't doubt myself for a second for I knew what I was capable of and soon, very soon, everyone else would learn also.
When I was wrestling for UWF my very first match was a dark match at their biggest event of the year, The Ultimate Showdown, and I walked out of that match victorious. I defeated former champions in my debut match and earned myself a spot on the main card for The Ultimate Showdown later that night. Prime last week was no different, I had been afford a grand opportunity to compete against one of Prime's top wrestlers in Trixie and I grabbed a hold of that opportunity and ran with it. Disregarding one bleamish to her name, she had been virtually unstoppable since she arrived in Prime. However, I did what I said I was going to do and I defeated Trixie and humbled her ever so slightly. I was considered the under dog going into this match and my victory was considered an upset, an upset victory in which people were still talking about.
It would be an understatement to think that Trixie will now have reservations going into her match at Stranglemania against Prince for the Indy Championship after suffering defeat on Prime. After Stranglemania, whether she walked out Indy Champion or not, the rematch was set to take place where myself and Trixie would go at it one more time on Prime. By then Trixie may very well be a champion. Her time to shine will be at Stranglemania and I will be right there at ringside watching it all unfold.
