**Note: This short clip takes place 6 hours after the events of FSW.**
The sounds of a duck ring tone as the scene slowly fades in. It's dark, and the only source of light comes from a cell phone ringing on the nightstand. The faint objects illuminated by the weak light of the ringing phone show us that we are in a hotel room, a rather nice one at that. A few more annoying quacks from the phone and a hand slaps down on it, flipping it off the night stand and on to the floor; face down. Some grumbles from out of the darkness as the sounds of someone fumbling around with a lamp. Then blinding light. As the brilliance fades down we can see a very sleepy eyed Gabrielle Visconty, lying face down on the bed, face half buried in a pillow, squinting at the bright light from the lamp on the nightstand next to the bed. The duck quaking continues. She pulls the overly fluffy comforter over her head.
”Uhhh... Fuhhh.”
Gabi groans out in sleepy gibberish. She fumbles blindly around off the side of the bed and manages to find her quacking phone. Pulling the phone up the comforter, she answers it.
”Huhoooh?”
”WOOOOO! Congratulations TV CHAMP!”
Gabi's head snaps up, her eyes suddenly alive and filled with excitement.
”I did it, Dad! I really did it!!”
Gabi's eyes start to tear up as she yells into the phone.
”I know! Holy shit! And you did it in under two months! You destroyed my four month run to claim it in my Rookie year! That has to be some kind of record – 59 days from Rookie to champ... Your Mom and I are so proud of you!”
”I've busted my ass... I've... Dad, I... Shit.”
Gabi sniffles as she fights to find the words, the reality and emotion of it all catching up to her. A moment of silence falls over the conversation as Gabi places her hand up over her face as she struggles to keep her composure. She lets out a soft whimper.
”You better not be getting all sappy. You know good and damn well that there will be a camera around to catch it, then someone will use it against you.”
Gabi nods her head, as if her Father could see it. She drops her hand from her face, exposing a single tear sliding down her cheek. She stares at the camera as she speaks.
”I know... I don't care - fuck 'em. I have put 1000% into this. I don't like how it went down, but no one can take that away from me now. Not even the asshat GM of FSW. I have to break the top 5 of the Elite 15 this month.”
”Your mom says 'watch your language'.”
”You got me on speaker phone?”
”No, but it's your mom, and she knows you.”
Gabi and her father share a quick chuckle.
”Dad, I am really glad you called. I have been so busy, I am losing track of the places I have been and where I am going next. I think I've had 6 matches in the last 9 days.”
”Hi Honey! How are you doing? I know you are excited, but you looked worn down in that match. But that belt looked good in your hands!”
Brief silence and then Gabi covers her face again. She sniffs before she talks.
”Mom! Stop... You guys are killing me.”
Gabi lets a giggle/sob out as she speaks.
”I know. But your Dad has been all excited. It's all he has been talking about for the last 4 hours. How his daughter has followed in his footsteps. Of course when you are doing good, you are his daughter.”
Gabi lowers her hand from her face as she listens to her mom speak, soft smile on her face.
”That's Dad for you. Mom, I'd really love to talk to you guys, but I really gotta get some rest. I got two more matches coming up this week, I think...”
Gabi wipes the tears from her face as she speaks and sniffs again.
”I know, Gabrielle. Get some rest, and we will catch up with you later. Congratulations!”
”I love you guys.”
”Quit being mushy on camera, you'll turn face!”
Gabi's father yells in the background, this brings a huge grin to her face.
”Good night, Gabrielle. We love you too.”
”Bye, Mom.”
”Bye, Hon.”
Gabi hangs up the phone and drops her face into the pillow. She shoves the lamp off the nightstand, send it to the floor. The image is plunged into darkness as the bulb breaks.
