"START A FIGHT" by GHØSTKID blasts in the Arena
The show starts off with video footage detailing historic events over Monday Night BRAWL's history.
From episode 001 in 1997 all the way down to the last episode #579 in Charleston.
Images of previous EWC Champions are shown, starting with the very first Champion Black Ninja, then moving onto Big Mac and Steve Bennett. Sped up footage then shows a special montage of Memphis Reigns, Shadow Man, Hirsh Valentine, Jesse Nunez, Hurricane Jeff, Moses Lake, James Chambers, BDC, Jay Cee, Stray, Gladiator, The Rev, Ruthann Hunter, Ashton Drake and then Xplode all with the EWC Championship.
From there we look at the dawning of the Undisputed Championship as we know it today, from Xplode defeating Shadow Man to unify the belts to footage of the men and women of BRAWL who have held the illustrious title including Ashton Drake, Candy, Dominic Sanders, Cyrus Black, and Xavier Reid, before ending on the current champion Killjoy Ito.
Sped up footage again then takes us through to current Monday Night BRAWL Superstars: Xavier Reid, King Flip, Candy, Tyler Bradford, KU, Antoni Malietoa, Stitches, Rebel Rhodes, Darius, Iggy Swango, Dio, and others making their way onto the red brand.
We then get a shot of the Champions of BRAWL:
Rebel Rhodes with the FX Broadcast Championship

The opening pyros blast across the stage and here we go.

Aiello: Hello everyone, and welcome to Monday Night BRAWL! I'm Joe Aiello alongside Hall of Famer Steve Bennett, and we have a STACKED show ahead of us! Tonight is the last stop for the red brand on the road to StrangleMania XVII, and we have two title matches with big implications! We'll see Nick James take on Rebel Rhodes for the FX Broadcast Championship, in a match that sees the winner advance to a special bout at StrangleMania with some big stakes!
Bennett: That's right Joe, whoever walks out of here with the FX title has a chance to earn a shot at the International Championship should they win at our first Pay-Per-View of the year...and in our main event, we're gonna see who goes to the big show as the champ! Xavier Reid looks to make history in his hometown as he defends the title against Gabrielle Visconty!
Aiello: There's been a war of words between these two for some time now, but it all boils down to our main event to see who moves on to StrangleMania to defend the title against a patiently waiting Iggy Swango! We also have a big triple threat street fight as King Flip, Stitches, and Ace King square off for dominance...and an X-Division bout that could get ugly between Jason Rayne and Darius!
Bennett: Those matches are a surefire way to see some violence tonight, folks! To top things off, we have Jason Hunter coming to us from Rampage to take on Antoni Malietoa, and two up and comers in Zack Tyler and Caleb Scott face off...but first, we see a double BRAWL debut as Dylan Jackson takes on The Creeper!
Aiello: We'll be kicking things off in just a moment, don't go away!

A CREEPY BRAWL DEBUT!
[SINGLES MATCH]
Dylan Jackson | VS | The Creeper |
At ringside, we join Joe Aiello and Steve “The Predator” Bennett where they are ready to kick off the in-ring action for the night!
Aiello: Well, Steve. It’s about that time.
Bennett: Oh I know what time you mean, Joe. My favorite time of all, it’s time to watch some ass kickin’! Up next we have two sons’a bitches that we know aren’t gonna leave a damn thing behind, nuh-uh! Two tough as nails, strong heavy hittin’ bastards, Joe! Just like I like ‘em! Dylan Jackson, while not the biggest name on the marquee and just starting his journey here in the EWC, has experience in spades as well as desire, and he’s gonna need every damn ounce of it against this big crazy son of a bitch in the hockey mask he’s gonna be facing. Look, let’s not waste anymore time. Lets see which newcomer wants it more!
Stroup: The following match is a singles match set for one fall. Joining us first, from MANCHESTER, ENGLAND, weighing in at 203 pounds ... DYLAN JACKSON!
”Take It Outside” by Brantley Gilbert plays as Dylan Jackson walks down the ramp, up the steps, and into the ring. He walks to his respective corner as Stroup announces his opponent for the night.
Stroup: And his opponent, from LAKESIDE CITY USA, weighing in at 313 pounds ... THE CREEPER!
The lights go dark as Meet The Creeper blares, fog rolls out from both sides of the stage to meet in the middle, where The Creeper slowly walks out. He’s met with cheers as he starts to nod his head to the beat of the music as he walks down the ramp. He grabs the top ropes from the outside then pulls himself up to the apron, he then walks over the ropes and stands silently in the ring, waiting for the match to begin.
DING DING DING
The two competitors meet in the middle of the ring and shake hands to the delight of the crowd who responds with a round of applause for the both of them. They then circle each other, sizing each other up before going in for a lockup. The Creeper quickly gains the advantage, utilizing his rather large size and strength advantage over Dylan Jackson. Jackson is now down on his knees at the mercy of The Creeper.
After much struggling, he counters, using his legs to shove The Creeper into the ropes while he slides underneath him, gaining the positioning advantage! Creeper hits the ropes, and shows off his own sliding techniques! He slides under Jackson that was looking to set him up for an overhead toss and puts him down hard with a big boot to the back of the head!
Aiello: Oh man, that had to hurt!
Bennett: You can say that again, Joe!
Dylan Jackson is down face first on the mat, clinching the back of his head in pain. The Creeper is wasting absolutely no time and grabs Dylan by the arm to pick him up to his feet but Dylan sends him flying down instead with an Arm Drag! The Creeper is quickly back up to his feet but is sent back down with a British Sweep! He makes the pin, hooking the leg!
ONE! …
TWO …..
NO! Kick out at the two!
The Creeper kicks out with enough force to send Dylan Jackson flying back onto the mat and off of his body. They’re both back up to their feet and brawling, exchanging back and forths! Creeper has gotten the best of Jackson and backed him up into a corner! He’s now laying into Jackson’s mid section with vicious left after punishing right. He picks him up and sits him down on the top turnbuckle, then he climbs to the second… BRAINBUSTER ONTO THE TOP TURNBUCKLE! Jackson’s body flails about and ends up outside the ring on the mat, lifeless.
Aiello: Oh no, this doesn't look good Steve.
Bennett: Dylan looks like he's in BIG trouble here!
The crowd is going nuts! The Creeper looks from side to side, asking the crowd if they should do it and they all give him a collective ‘Hell yeah’! The Creeper takes to the top rope… sizing up Jackson who is still down on the outside. Is he going to do it? Yes! Yes he is! Creeper Drop from the top rope to Dylan Jackson on the outside! My God! Creeper quickly rolls him in and places his right foot down on the chest of Dylan Jackson as the ref counts…
One …
TWO …..
THREE!!
DING DING DING
Stroup: And your winner, via pinfall... THE CREEPER!
The Creeper has successfully made his main roster debut and the crowd can’t get enough of the masked madman. He makes his way up the ramp victoriously as fans cheer him on, patting him on the back and extended their hands out for high fives the entire way.
Aiello: That was amazing, Steve! Just a stunning first showing out on the big stage here on Monday Night Brawl for The Creeper, there’s absolutely no limit to what could be up ahead for this impressive… and sometimes downright terrifying… big man.
Bennett: And you’re damn right on that one, Aiello. I can’t wait to see more of this son of a bitch. Hell, same goes for Dylan Jackson. If he can move his fingers after that Brainbuster.
Aiello: Folks, when we come back we'll see two more of BRAWL's new stars collide as Zack Tyler takes on Caleb Scott!
With that, we cut to the X-Tron with a video package for StrangleMania XVII...
ON MARCH 28TH, THE EWC PRESENTS...STRANGLEMANIA XVII
WHO WILL RISE TO THE OCCASION...AND WHO WILL FALL?
WHO WILL RISE TO THE OCCASION...AND WHO WILL FALL?
We move to a commercial break.
Backstage, the camera shows a pitch black room as smoke begins to slowly rise up from the bottom of the screen. Caleb Scott steps forward from the darkness, the smoke rolling up around his black leather jacket. He stands there for a second with his head down, wet black hair draping around his head. His hands at stomach level, fingertips pressing against each other. He looks up at the camera and begins to smirk.
Scott: The night has finally arrived. After almost 20 years of living in the shadows, years of sitting off to the side. After earning my contract with a victory on Gambit, my time to arrive on Brawl is here. That Gambit victory sealed the fate for every other wrestler in EWC.
Caleb drops his hands to his sides as his hands ball up into fists. His body language looking like he is ready to start a fight with the next person he sees. Visible rage coursing through him.
Scott: 20 years of pent up aggression and anger is finally going to be released tonight! Zack Tyler is the unfortunate soul that is going to be made an example of. I have done everything I have needed to do to prepare for this moment. After tonight, Zack, Edmonton will be the place you will always remember as the place where I made you want to give up being a wrestler in the EWC.
Caleb lowers his head and begins to laugh as he slowly moves backwards back into the darkness as more smoke fills up the room. Caleb's hand reaches through the smoke, his hand clutching the skull with the "ZT" initials carved into it. His laughter fading off as the camera goes black.
AN UP AND COMER SHOWCASE!
[SINGLES MATCH]
VS | ||
Zack Tyler | Caleb Scott |
We return to ringside where Joe Aiello and Steve Bennett are standing by. The crowd is on fire and ready to see the show tonight. This is another night on the road to Stranglemania. Feuds were building, alliances being forged and it seemed as everyone was fired up and waiting to see what would happen on another explosive episode of Monday Night Brawl.
Aiello: With Stranglemania just around the corner it seems that a lot of heated rivalries are building up. It's been a joe to see that happening and tonight is no different. We've got a real show here for you isn't that right Steve?
Bennett: It's going to be one hell of a night. And speaking of that, it looks like we are going to get started, right now. Here we go with Zack Tyler vs Caleb Scott and it seems like there's a fire under Zack this week, something about this kid really gets the crowd going.
Stroup: The following match is (put the match type in here) Joining us first, from the alley out back, weighing in at 175 pounds ... ZACK TYLERRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!
The lights go dark as an image of Zack in seen backstage. By now on the entrance stage, fog machines are covering the platform. He stares into the camera with a deep soul stare before the camera fades. Just before the camera cuts off, a quick glimpse of a Red circle with a Red Left hand palm print is seen. Zack's [3:14] music then plays. At the [:17] mark, a Red flash of light illuminates the entrance stage and again at the [:20] mark. At the [:27] mark, Zack rolls out slowly on a skateboard dressed in a Black full length coat with his arms folded over his chest. As he approaches the ring, the skateboard rolls under the ring as he rolls under the bottom rope onto his stomach. The ringside camera catches an up-close image of Zack as he smiles and blood protrudes from his mouth down his chin. Slithering into the corner, he grabs the ropes and pulls himself up to his feet, removing his coat. His music by now has looped or replayed until he folds his hands together as if praying. His eyes roll in the back of his head and the lights come up to normal.
Stroup: And his opponent, from TAMPA FLORIDA, weighing in at 195 pounds ... CALEB SCOTT!!!!!!
Lights go black as Ze Nigmar plays. Lights stay off as song intro plays. Once the song starts, a single beam of light from above the ring shoots to the stage as Caleb Scott rises from the floor through a ring of white smoke. He is on one knee with his arms spread to the side, fists clenched. Caleb begins to slowly walk to the ring as a short row of fire ignites on either side of the entrance ramp. As Caleb goes up the steps and into the ring, the single beam of light following him the entire time. He stands in the middle of the ring and stretches his arm out of the side as he drops to one knee. Holding them parallel to the floor as the ring fills with smoke before the lights turn back on.
DING DING DING
The bell rings and the two men circle each other in the ring for a few moments before they lock up. Caleb gets the upper hand first, lifting Zack off the his feet and tossing him across the ring as if he weighed next to nothing. Zack rolls up and moves to tackle Caleb, mounting and punching the man repeatedly against the turnbuckle, before he's pushed off.
Caleb goes to lift Zack up for a suplex, when Zack kicks, punches and manages to take both of them to the canvas. Both hit the canvas, but Caleb gets up to his feet first and manages to catch Zack with a suplex, before going back onto the attack, bouncing off the ropes and catching Zack with a lariat as he got up. Zack rolls out of the ring, laying there for a few moments while the referee starts counting and Caleb slides out of the ring to get Zack back in, not wanting to win this by a count out.
Aiello: You gotta give Caleb some credit here, he wants to win this opening contest in an honorable manner!
Bennett: Hey, if someone can't answer the ten count you gotta take those wins any way you can!
Before Caleb can lift him up and pull him back into the ring, Zack manages to get a good punch to the side of Caleb's face, followed by a few quick elbows and then tossing Caleb into the outside of the steel turnbuckle. Zack slips under the bottom rope as Caleb slides under it, getting himself back in just before the ten count. The two lock up again in a fury of punches and it's clear that neither one is ready to go down yet.
Aiello: Things are getting really tense here!
Bennett: This could end at any time Joe, and you know it!
The brawl comes to a stop only when Zack catches Caleb with a haymaker that sends him reeling. Zack looks to take advantage here, sending Caleb to the ropes after a jumping knee strike as he preps for the Michinoku Driver on the rebound...but Caleb counters out! Caleb lifts Zack up like he's going for a supelx...but drops him with a powerbomb-like maneuver instead! BLACK NIGHT! Zack is out of it as Caleb brings him back to his feet...dropping him with a modified Death Valley Driver! BLACKOUT! Is it enough? Caleb goes for the cover!
ONE!
TWO!
THREE!
DING DING DING
Stroup: And your winner, via pinfall... CALEB SCOTT!
The ref raises Caleb's arm in victory as we cut to commentary.
Aiello: What a win here for Caleb Scott! Zack Tyler showing he's capable of hanging in there, but coming up just short.
Bennett: He's gonna really need to step it up big time if he wants to make a statement, but he showed some good signs even in losing to Caleb Scott tonight!
Aiello: This could be the first step to something major for Caleb Scott, but up next we have brand warfare at the ready as Antoni Malietoa takes on Jason Hunter from Rampage!
As Caleb continues to celebrate his win, the X-Tron flickers on ...
(KU rolls Amber under the ropes to the ring apron. KU steps through the ropes and lifts Amber hitting a Rude Exit on the apron. Amber falls to the floor at ringside. KU sits on the apron looking down at Amber. KU slides down to the floor and rams Amber's head into the ring steps not once, but twice as the referee begins his count.

As the footage of that match comes to a close, the crowd goes a bit crazy as Amber is standing backstage with a bandit on her forehead wearing her Prime shirt with blue jeans and blue Jean Jacket on and her new Prime Sneakers. Amber let out a growl looking back at Jim Connors who has this grin on his face. Amber looked back at him not laughing one bit.
Hall: I am not here to tell you I am sorry about my past actions! I am not here to wave the white flag either, because I am not the type of person to do it. Yes, KU took ME to the limit but he can’t say I didn’t do the same with him. You see KU felt I took it personally. Now he MADE it personal, because he tried to take me out!
She growls looking at him with anger as Jim Connors looks a bit ignored but he was about to say something when she cut him off.
Hall: He tries to take me away from the one thing I eat, breathe, and live for besides my family...which is wrestling! After StrangleMania my focus will be on G1 but after that, it's over. I am coming for his ass and I WANT HIS ASS AT HARDCORE REVOLUTION MAY 16TH! KU and I are in a good old fashion PARKING LOT STREET FIGHT! We both are from the streets so best way for two people from the street to handle beef between us!
Connors starts to speak again, but Hall interrupts him once more.
Hall: Oh, and while I'm here? Tell Stitches I say...
She place her fingers on her cheek with a smirks as the crowd say it along with her.
Hall: HAVE A NICE DAY!
The crowd cheers for Hall as we move to a commercial break.
RAMPAGE VS BRAWL - BY REQUEST OF JIM CONNORS!
[SINGLES MATCH]
VS | ||
Jason Hunter | Antoni Malietoa |
We return to ringside where commentary is standing by!
Aiello: Alright folks, it's time for some brand warfare by request of Jim Connors, as Antoni Malietoa takes on Rampage's Jason Hunter! Steve, we know that at StrangleMania XVII Jason teams with his mother Ruthann Hunter in a major tag team bout against Olivia Saint and El Chupacabra, but he's got his work cut out for him tonight!
Bennett: Damn right Joe, that match is gonna be big! Meanwhile, we've seen the situation unfold all around these two, but now it's down to the Great Warrior to defend BRAWL's honor against the Bossman!
Stroup: The following match is scheduled for one fall! Joining us first, from Apia, Samoa by way of Auckland, New Zealand, weighing in at 254 pounds ... ANTONI MALIETOA!
Fog engulfs the entrance ramp, highlighted by green lights as "Be Somebody" by Fort Minor begins to play throughout the arena. From the smoke emerges Antoni Malietoa with his eyes wide and arms out to his sides.
As the fog clears, Antoni takes a step forward as he psychs him self up with a yell. Antoni makes his way to the ring, pulls himself up from the floor by the top rope and then steps over the top rope and into the ring as he prepares to do battle.
Stroup: And his opponent, from San Francisco, California, weighing in at 170 pounds ... JASON HUNTER!
Soldier - Neffex comes over the speaker as Diana and Sara came out first as they stood on the stage with Jason with his back to the crowd and hood over his head. Sara slides the hood off his head as Diana walks ahead of them. Sara and Jason play to the fans a bit dancing to the music while Diana walks down the ramp. Diana holds the rope for them to get in while Sara and Jason get in-ring and she slides his jacket off him before leaving the ring with him glaring at the person warming up in the corner looking very serious to fight.
DING DING DING
The bell rings and the two immediately trade forearm strikes, with Jason notably more aggressive as he looks to gain an upperhand on the Great Warrior. He sends Malietoa toward the ropes, running with purpose...but Antoni dodges it at the last second, the momentum forcing Jason to collide with the steel ring post with a thud!
Antoni looks to take advantage of the opening, driving an elbow into the back of the Bossman to bring him down to a knee. Antoni stays on the attack, clearly playing the power game with some clubbing blows to Jason's head before taking to the ropes, looking for a boot on the rebound...that Jason narrowly evades!
Jason shows that he's more than capable of hanging with the likes of the Great Warrior, laying into him with a flurry of punches to keep the big man at bay. He sends Antoni to the ropes with an Irish whip, and nails him with a dropkick that sends him flying through the ropes to the outside!
Aiello: Wow, Jason really making a statement here in the early going!
Bennett: Antoni's gonna need to get his head together after that!
Jason steps out of the ring, keeping on the attack with some stomps to keep Antoni down. Eventually, the Great Warrior builds back up to a vertical base, grabbing the Prince of Wrestling by his head as he looks to send him flying into the steel steps! CRASH! Jason collides with the steps, and he looks worse for wear as Antoni attempts to gather his bearings. Antoni brings Jason back to his feet...but this time, it's Jason who sends the big man colliding with the steel ring post!
Antoni looks hurt from that, grabbing his shoulder in pain...an opening that Jason exploits by sending him right back into the post with a dropkick! Antoni is down as we hear the ref making his count:
ONE...
TWO...
Jason pays no mind of this, running up the steps as he taunts the Great Warrior to get back to his feet. Antoni obliges with this, but is taken right back down with a double foot stomp to the back by the Bossman!
THREE...
FOUR...
Jason is feeling it now, the crowd getting behind him as he tells Antoni to get back up yet again. Malietoa slowly stands back up, feeling the effects of that offense as Jason looks to hit a superkick...but Antoni dodges it! Antoni with a forearm...and another...and another...and wraps things up with a belly to belly suplex, sending Jason hard onto the floor!
Aiello: Ouch, what impact that must've made!
Bennett: This is starting to look bad for both guys, Joe!
Both men are down after this, with Antoni still in a bit of pain despite being on the offensive...but Jason is clearly hurt after that suplex as well, as the ref continues the count!
FIVE...
SIX...
Antoni turns over to his stomach, using all the energy he can muster to get to his knees as Jason is slowly sitting up!
SEVEN...
Antoni is back to his feet...as is Jason! The two charge at each other...AND JASON GOES DOWN WITH A SPEAR BY ANTONI!
EIGHT...
Antoni wills himself back up to his feet, finally managing to slide back into the ring!
NINE...
The big man is barely sitting up, but Jason is out cold after that spear!
TEN!
It's all over! The ref calls for the bell!
DING DING DING
Stroup: And your winner, via count out... ANTONI MALIETOA!
Antoni slowly gets back to his feet, doing his best to enjoy the victory for what it is as the ref raises his arm. Jason is finally starting to stir, glaring at Antoni upon realizing what's happened as we cut to commentary.
Aiello: What a close bout this turned out to be, folks! These two laid into each other heavy, and Antoni just managed to pick up a win via count out!
Bennett: Sometimes you gotta take whatever comes your way Joe, and after the hell these two put each other through, you'd better believe Antoni will accept this win and move forward.
Aiello: I can't help but wonder if the situation between these two men is finished, but up next we're gonna see things get even MORE violent as Jason Rayne takes on Darius in X-Division action!
We get another look at Antoni and Jason staring each other down before the X-Tron flickers on, showing another video package for StrangleMania XVII...

SOME BAD BLOOD ABOUT TO BOIL
[SINGLES MATCH, X-DIVISION RULES]
VS | ||
Jason Rayne | Darius |
We return to ringside where commentary is standing by!
Aiello: Folks, this next match could get really brutal really quick. Ahead of his X-Division title challenge at StrangleMania, Darius takes on Jason Rayne in a match that's been building since these two had a confrontation at our season opener!
Bennett: Man, I love it when folks settle their differences in the ring, the way all conflicts should be resolved!
Stroup: The following contest is an X-Division rules match set for one fall! Introducing first, from Miami, Florida, weighing in at 260 lbs … JASON RAYNE!
‘The Devil Inside’ by Blues Saraceno plays, and the crowd begins to boo as Jason Rayne comes through the entrance. Jason stops for a few seconds to bask in the jeers from the crowd, letting a cold, smug smirk come across his face. Jason then makes his way methodically to the ring. Jason lifts the top rope slightly and nonchalantly ducks under it and steps into the ring. Jason proceeds to casually remove his leather jacket and shades, handing them to the referee, who removes them from the ring.
Stroup: And his opponent, making his way to the ring, from Albany, New York, weighing in at 265 lbs ... He is the "E of the EWC" ... DARIUS!
"Burn It Down" begins to play, flames erupt from the stage below and circle the stage. After a few moments, Darius rises above the flames. Darius hypes himself up, throwing devil horns to the sky for a moment as fireworks go off in a spiral behind him. Elissa then emerges from the smoke behind Darius, holding his bat over her shoulder with a sadistic grin on her face. Darius then runs through the flames and slides into the ring, looking around the arena before jumping up to his feet. Elissa starts to walk around the ring, watching Darius as he tosses his sunglasses to the side of the ring, then throws his trench coat off to the side before leaping onto one of the turnbuckles, posing with devil horns once again as he waits for the match to begin.
DING DING DING
Darius and Rayne lock up in the center of the ring, both men trying to use their size and strength to their advantage, but neither budge as they’re both the same size! Darius uses experience to his advantage as he drives his knee up into Rayne’s gut, knocking the wind out of him long enough to gain the upper-hand, whipping him into the corner before following up with another knee!
Darius grabs two handfuls of Rayne’s hair, presses his face into the top rope, and begins to grind his face back and forth along the rope, leaving a bright red mark along the skin as he does! Darius lets out a whistle in Elissa’s direction, to which she responds with a nod as she reaches under the ring and pulls out a chain from within! Darius slams Rayne down to the mat and catches the chain as Elissa tosses it to him, wrapping it around his fist while Rayne pulls himself back to his feet.
As soon as Rayne stands tall, Darius charges forward with a chain assisted sucker punch, but Rayne dodges out of the way! Darius stops in his tracks and turns to Rayne again, but Rayne greets him with a stiff clothesline, turning Darius inside out! Darius shakes his head in a daze, but Rayne gives him no time to recover as he takes the chain into his own hands and lashes down at Darius with it, whipping cold steel against bare flesh! Darius arches his back inward and lets out a scream as Rayne admires his work!
Aiello: Jason Rayne really taking it to Darius in the early goings of this match!
Bennett: He's had a bone to pick with Darius for some time now, and this is his moment to shine!
Rayne gets down to a knee and puts the chain around Darius’ mouth, then starts to wrench back, twisting Darius’ body into a camel clutch of sorts. Darius claws for the bottom rope, but Rayne manages to keep him just mere inches away! Rayne twists the chain in his hand, making the chains pinch and squeeze at Darius’ cheeks, but Darius refuses to quit! Rayne shoves Darius' head to the mat, pulls the chain away, and tosses it to the side as he rolls out of the ring and begins to search under the apron.
After a few moments, Rayne pulls a table from under the ring and slides it under the bottom rope. Rayne then pulls out a gasoline can and a spool of barbed wire from the apron before tossing them into the ring as well. Rayne slides back into the ring and goes to work setting up the table, watching as Darius pulls himself to his feet while Elissa talks to him on the outside. As soon as Rayne sets the table up, he takes the barbed wire and wraps it around the table, then takes the gasoline, but before he is able to pour it, a loud crack echoes throughout the arena as Darius slams his barbed wire bat into the small of Rayne’s back!
Aiello: Oh man, look at the damage there!
Bennett: Darius really letting Rayne know what he thinks of him here!
Darius turns to Elissa and blows her a kiss for handing him his trusty bat, then turns his attention back to Rayne, slamming his bat down into his midsection over and over again, sundering Rayne’s flesh with each vicious strike! Darius then sits Rayne up, brings the bat across his forehead, and digs the barbs into Rayne’s forehead, letting crimson rivers flow down Rayne’s face as he lets out roars of pain!
As Rayne suffers on the mat, Darius rolls under the ring and reaches under the apron, pulling a sack from under the ring. Darius rolls back into the ring and motions for the camera to move closer, and as soon as it does, Darius opens the bag, revealing it’s filled with … Mega Bruiser Jawbreakers?! Darius lets out a maniacal cackle as he turns his attention back to Rayne, who is now on one knee. Darius spins the sack in his hand and then swings it with an under-hook motion, slamming the sack of jawbreakers under Rayne’s chin with a sickening crack!
Aiello: Oh my, that is NOT good!
Bennett: All's fair in love and X-Division matches, Joe!
Rayne rolls out of the ring as Darius continues to laugh at him, but then takes a moment to drop the sack, take the gas can into his hands, and then pour gasoline all over the barbed table and his bat! Darius admires his handiwork for a moment, but then goes to Elissa to retrieve a book of matches she has ready for him. Darius places the book onto the table, then heads back to the opposite side of the ring, looks over the top rope to find Rayne …
But instead finds a kendo stick between the eyes! Darius stumbles backwards, clutching his face as Rayne slides back into the ring, seething through a crimson mask, before slamming the stick across Darius’ back numerous times! Darius retreats into the corner, but before he is able to react, Rayne slams down onto Darius’ forehead again, this time busting him wide open! Rayne continues the assault, slamming down onto Darius’ head and shoulders until the stick splinters apart! Darius stumbles forward in a bloodied daze, but Rayne catches him and quickly plants him to the mat with a Saito suplex! Rayne hooks both legs for the win!

NO! Darius kicks out at two!
Aiello: WOW! Jason Rayne nearly picking up the win there, but Darius still has some fight left in him!
Bennett: You love to see it, Joe!
Rayne gets back to his feet and picks Darius up from the mat with a powerbomb hold, then slams Darius into the turnbuckle with it! Darius stumbles forward yet again, this time being caught by a vertical suplex powerbomb from Rayne! Rayne hooks both legs once again!
ONE!

NO!! Darius kicks out yet again and Rayne is LIVID! He gets into the referee's face, clapping his hands together three times furiously. Rayne then rolls out of the ring and comes face to face with Elissa as she throws her hands into the air and backs away slowly. Rayne watches her walk away as he reaches under the ring and pulls a meat hook from the apron! Rayne grins widely and then slides back into the ring, wielding the hook with malicious intent as he stalks Darius, who is now pulling himself to his feet with the ropes.
Rayne charges Darius and swings wide with the hook, but Darius dodges out of the way, making the hook get caught up between the top turnbuckle and rope! Rayne tries pulling the hook away, but Darius doesn’t let him as he drives a big boot into the back of Rayne’s skull! Darius takes hold of the sack again and dumps the jawbreakers onto the mat, then takes Rayne from behind, hoists him up, and slams him down onto the jawbreakers with a German suplex! Rayne clutches at his back, screaming with pain as Darius laughs at his dirty work!
Aiello: That looks absolutely painful!
Bennett: This could be the beginning of the end here, Joe!
Darius gets to his feet, makes his way to the table, and takes the matches into his hand, striking them on the box to light them up. Darius then drops them onto the table, igniting the table with a roaring flame! Darius picks up his bat from the mat and holds it close to the flame, igniting the gas soaking his bat as well! Darius turns to Rayne as he rushes him and swings the flaming bat into Rayne’s midsection! Rayne nearly falls face first into the table but manages to catch himself just in time! Rayne turns to meet Darius, but Darius rushes forward at Rayne and connects with the Hunter’s Mark out of nowhere, spearing Rayne onto and through the flaming table! Both men thrash around the mat, but then Darius manages to crawl over to Rayne and hooks the leg!

Stroup: Here is your winner via pinfall… DARIUS!
Darius sits up against the turnbuckle with a sadistic grin, smiling and nodding at Rayne as the medical examiners check on him. Elissa rushes to the ring and helps Darius to his feet, raising his hand in victory as Darius continues to nod at Rayne.
Aiello: What a match, folks, and what a win for Darius as he now has to pivot in preparation for his match at StrangleMania XVII!
Bennett: Yeah, but look at that moment between him and Rayne here...that's what this is all about. It's almost like a sign of respect from Darius, because of how far Jason Rayne pushed him here tonight!
Aiello: Folks, I hope that didn't make you feel too queasy because when we come back, we have a triple threat street fight between King Flip, Stitches, and Ace King! Don't go away, folks!
Examiners continue to check on Rayne as we go to commercial break ...
AN X-DIVISION MATCH BY ANY OTHER NAME IS JUST AS VIOLENT!
[TRIPLE THREAT MATCH, STREET FIGHT]
VS | VS | |||
Ace King | Stitches | King Flip |
We return to ringside where Stroup is ready to call the action.
Aiello: Here we go, folks! It's not quite an X-Division match but it has all the makings of one, as we see Ace King, Stitches, and King Flip square off in a triple threat street fight!
Bennett: This one has big implications for all three men, between Ace and Stitches seeking momentum ahead of their matches at StrangleMania and King Flip looking to play spoiler!
Stroup: The following match is a triple threat street fight scheduled for one fall. Joining us first, from the carnival of shattered dreams, weighing in at 260 pounds ... STITCHEEES!
'One Missed Call (2008) Theme' plays as the lights go dark. As the beat in the music drops Stitches appears from behind the curtain. Stitches methodically makes his way down the entrance ramp with no care for the audience. Stitches approaches the nearby steel stairs, climbs up onto the apron and begins walking the edge of the apron like a tight rope before reaching the nearby ring post. Stitches climbs up onto the second rope and throws his arms out wide. Stitches enters the ring and sits down in the corner of the ring, waiting for the bell to ring.
Stroup: And his opponent, from the land of money and fame, weighing in at 220 pounds ... KIIING FLIP!
K I N G F L I P zooms from right to left across the X-Tron and is followed swiftly by a small pyro. 'Machinegun' begins to play as the man in the hooded vest, head low, emerges from the curtain with his manager in tow. He gets to the edge of the rampway when he lifts his hood to reveal that arrogant half smile. The lyrics chime in as he walks slowly down the ramp with his eyes locked in on the ring. He slides into the ring and leans against the turnbuckle with arms agape as his theme plays. He turns to his opponent ready for the action to start as his theme fades.
Stroup: And their opponent, making his way to the ring, FROM Las Vegas, Nevada, weighing in at 235 pounds... He is THE GAMBLER... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE KIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINGGGGGG!!!
"Ace of Spades" rips through the arena, and the crowd cheers as pyro goes off in time with the opening drum beats. Ace King then calmly steps out onto the stage, his eyes narrowed and focused on the ring. Ace rolls his head around the back of his neck for a few seconds before focusing back in on the ring, then makes his way down the ramp, interacting with a few fans along the way. He stops a few steps short of the ring, then dives in under the bottom rope as red pyro explodes from each turnbuckle. Ace pauses on his knees in the middle of the ring for a moment before getting to his feet, his attention locked in on his opponents.
DING DING DING
The three men begin circling the ring, each looking for an in on one another. They all seem to be juking and shifting around as they jockey for a position. Flip opts out and hits the canvas on his back. He rolls out of the ring to leave Stitches and Ace King to themselves. They immediately rush one another to pick up right where they left off last year. Trading right hand for right hand as Flip motions to Chanel. She ducks under the ring apron and pulls out two buckets. Flip keeps his eye on the action in the ring as he continues walking around it. It seems Stitches has gotten an early upper hand with some focused headbutts to Ace after blocking an assault from the Gambler.
The carnival clown yanks on his opponent's hair with a few choice words before bashing him face first into the turnbuckle. Cameras get in position and it appears Flip is, in fact, gluing shards of glass to his fists. He dips the back of his hands into the glue, then lifts and dips them into the bucket of glass. Ace King throws an elbow after taking a few head shots with the turnbuckle and trades positions with Stitches. It's now the face-painted one getting his teeth realigned by the turnbuckle. Stitches fumbles backward onto one knee, giving Ace an opportunity to jump onto the second turnbuckle and bounce off into a tornado DDT that rocks the ring. The crowd pops for the maneuver.
The Gambler quickly gets up and hits the runs to the ropes opposite, gaining speed and momentum as he sprints toward Flip's position outside the ring. Chanel is able to call attention to the spot and Flip grabs the bucket of glass. Ace flies through the air in a suicide dive that meets nothing but thinly-padded concrete covered in shards of glass. Flip dumped the bucket and got out of the way, leaving the Gambler screaming in pain as rolls into the announce table.
Aiello: Wow, things already getting out of hand in the early goings!
Bennett: It's only gonna get worse from here, Joe!
Flip slides into the ring, but Stitches was already getting himself to a vertical base. The carnival clown is able to get the drop and thrusts boot after boot into the back of Flip. A piece of glass isn't quite affixed to Flip's hand and falls off in the scuffle. The carnival clown grabs it as he straddles over his opponent. The clown grabs Flip by the hair and starts shouting at him as he brings the glass to the left side of Flip's head. He's about to drag it across the forehead, but Flip quickly grabs the arm and brings it to his mouth. CHOMP!
The Clown exclaims in pain as he drops the glass, pounding left forearms into the back of the CHK's head in an attempt to stop the bite. Stitches is able to stumble away to a corner and you can see teeth marks in his right forearm. Flip drags himself to the opposite corner with a toothy grin. Stitches is about to rush him when Ace King pulls the ankles from outside the ring. The Clown faceplants and the crowd collectively and audibly winces as Ace drags Stitches until his tender bits make a love connection with the turnbuckle post.
Flip gets to a vertical base and goes for a baseball slide as Ace rounds the corner to slide into the ring. But the Gambler sees it coming and jerks out of the way, pulling Flip the rest of the way out of the ring. The two exchange right hands but the CHK quickly gets the upper hand on account of the affixed weaponry. Flip pounds Ace over to the guardrail but isn't able to get much headway here as Stitches climbs to the top turnbuckle inside the ring. The carnival clown delivers a simple splash, colliding hard enough into both opponents that all three go bursting through the guardrail.
Crowd: HO-LY SHIT! HO-LY SHIT! HO-LY SHIT!
Stitches gets an arm over Flip's body and the referee gets in position.

No! Ace King gets the shoulder up as well.
Aiello: Close call there, but Ace shows he still has fight left in him!
Bennett: Stitches isn't gonna take kindly to this!
Chanel helps Flip to his feet and rolls him into the ring as his opponents stir. Stitches is first to one knee with Ace on all fours. The carnival clown leaps into action, going for his patented submission finisher. Ace pulls and yanks in any attempt not to get twisted up, but Stitches is still able to lock in the Carnival Pretzel after about a minute of back and forth with the Gambler. Ace is vehemently shaking his head when asked if he'll submit by the referee. Meanwhile, Flip is regaining his composure inside the ring when he sees this happening.
He slowly brings himself to the ring apron nearest to the action and watches for a moment. When it appears that Ace can't fight back any longer and looks to be passing out, Flip strikes. Asai moonsault off the second rope into both men on the ground outside. He takes control of the situation, straddling an abused Ace and yanks him upward by the throat for the KNEEL submission.
King Flip: WHO'S CHOKING NOW, MOTHERFUCKER! WHO'S CHOKING NOW, HUH!?
Flip maintains his grip but Ace does not submit. He appears to have completely passed out. Flip releases the hold before the referee can check on Ace. The CHK slams the Gambler face first into the broken guardrail before standing up and stalking the carnival clown. Stitches have eyes in the back of his head, because he swiftly spins around and uses both hands to pull Flip into a whip that sends him crashing through the steel steps nearby. Stitches continues his assault much to the chagrin of Chanel who appears to be pleading with the clown to relent.
She pulls a can of beer out of a nearby bag as some sort of peace offering. Stitches glares at her for a moment, then grabs it and pelts her with it. He then bashes the can into Flip's face until the side bursts open and spills beer all over the CHK. The Clown is about to pick up his sticky, slippery opponent when he gets a FULL HOUSE to the back of the head.
Ace picks Flip up and rolls him into the ring and climbs the turnbuckle. He's going for a WILD CARD but ends up catching a CROWNING MOMENT from Flip! The CHK follows through using Ace King's BIG SLICK into the turnbuckle! Ace is down and Flip is climbing to the top. ROYAL BLOOD!!! PIN!

Stroup: And your winner, via pinfall... KIIIIING FLIIIIIIP!
Flip almost looks like he's in shock as the ref raises his arm in victory, as Stitches is barely coming to while we cut to commentary.
Aiello: Oh my, what a win for King Flip! He just pinned the former Undisputed Champion in the middle of that ring!
Bennett: Holy shit, what a moment for Flip here! The world is his damn oyster, and you know he's gonna want in on the title hunt somewhere because of it!
Aiello: This puts him somewhere solidly in the hunt for sure, Steve! Folks, up next we have the FX Broadcast Championship on the line as Rebel Rhodes defends against Nick James...and whoever wins goes on to StrangleMania XVII! Don't go away!
Flip quickly leaves the ring, looking to regroup and avoid the ire of Stitches as we go to commercial break.
THE RHODES TO GLORY CONTINUES
[SINGLES MATCH, WINNER GOES TO STRANGLEMANIA]
FOR THE FX BROADCAST CHAMPIONSHIP
VS | ||
Nick James | Melinda Rhodes |
We return to ringside where the mat is practically gleaming beneath the bright lights, showing no signs of the blood and chaos begat earlier in the night.
Aiello: Folks, it's time once again for the defense of our coveted title. Last time on Brawl, the Rebel Star staved off every member of Sabotage to keep it in her clutches - and now, a returning and deeply emotional Nick James means to end her reign in the final moments before Stranglemania!
Bennett: That's Nick James, bitch, to you, Joe. Let's see if Rhodes can make him hers. A lot of crap happening out in the world right now, and one of these competitors is gonna have to look past it all to walk away our FX Champion. Let's roll these sons of bitches out.
Stroup: The following match is for one fall, and is for the FX Broadcast Championship! Joining us first, from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, weighing in at two hundred and forty pounds ... the man with two first names ... NICK JAMES!
The lights dim as "Get Up" by Skrillex begins to blast throughout the arena. Out from the back appears Nick James. He looks at the crowd as he begins to make his way down to the ring.
Stroup: And his opponent, hailing from Rome, Georgia, she stands at 5'11" and weighs in at one hundred and forty five pounds ... "THE REBEL STAR" ... MMMMMMEEEELLLLLLIIINNNDDDAAAA RRRRRHHHHOOOODDDDDEEESSS!
The lights dim and "The Steeple" by Halestorm plays over the P/A speakers. With a pyro explosion, the Rebel bounds from the curtains and onto that stage with a wicked grin. She sports her ring gear, a red leather vest with her winged star logo, aviator shades, and fingerless gloves. She strides down to ringside, slides under the ropes, pops up and throws a three fingered salute to the fans!
Aiello: To those joining us tonight in spite of everything going on, we thank you. Now to the ring, where these two talented athletes will thank you in their own way - and one of them will go on... to Stranglemania! Here. We. Go...
DING DING DING
James has his game face on, but the edge in intensity belongs to his opponent. The champion stares daggers through her challenger, pointing at her eyes and then his, before lunging forward into an immediate attempt at a Shot Through the Heart! She locks him up for the cutter, comes within an inch of hitting it, but is elbowed back and shoved away. James is wide-eyed as he goes for a superkick, which Rebel bridges under, popping up and catching him under the eye with a stiff jab. James replies with a backfist, which just barely connects as Rhodes scooches back.
They circle one another warily, just a little more pep in the champ's step. Not to be locked out this early, James feints stepping in, and then snaps a kick to the midsection and goes for his own early brutality; a stunner! It's Rhodes' turn to make the desperation block, dropping her weight to sandbag the attempt. Rather than force the issue, the Man With Two First Names changes tack and flows into a pump-handle neckbreaker, getting all of it before stepping back with his arms raised. It's too close to call, and the crowd are chanting for both competitors...
"LET'S GO RE-BEL!"
"NICK JAMES, BITCH!"
"LET'S GO RE-BEL!"
"NICK JAMES, BITCH!"
Aiello: Here we go folks, big fight feel here tonight!
Bennett: It's gonna be spectacular, for sure!
They lock up in the center of the ring, and Rebel gains the upper hand with some adroit chain wrestling, hitting a drop toe told into a headlock that James powers out of with a tight, energetic roar. He finds his feet, only to be taken down once more with a snug arm drag, the Rebel Star holding on to lock in an armbar immediately thereafter. Her challenger struggles back manfully, managing to half-rise, alleviating some of the pressure with a partial bridge then bringing up a foot to stomp the champion in the face. She releases and stands, feigning a jaw injury, moving back toward the corner while clutching at her face.
James smells blood, and rushes in, only to get caught by a twisting arm whip that sends him rattling into the corner post. Rebel catches him on the rebound with a reverse frankensteiner, planting the big man into the mat! Grabbing a leg, she goes for the cover...

James muscles his way up out of the pin, staggering to vertical base, toward the opposite corner. Rebel pursues him this time, and even lands a couple of slicing kicks to the midsection that sandwich the challenger between her and the post. He takes them like the champ he intends to be, then grabs the third, and falls back, dragging Rhodes into the corner face-first. She eats the impact, and then James is on her, turning her around to drive in hard forearms, and then a superkick that lands flush, leaving her down and out in the corner!
His intensity peaking, the Man With Two First Names dashes to the opposite side of the ring and comes thundering back in, the ring shaking as he hits a massive cannonball against the champion!
Aiello: Wow, look at the impact of that cannonball by Nick James!
Bennett: That had to have taken a lot out of the champ, Joe!
Hauling Rhodes from where she lies insensible in the corner, James gets her into position and then scrambles back to the corner, getting the crowd riled up with some posturing before he sets up for his signature frog splash. He closes his eyes momentarily, kisses his fingers and throws them up, then launches his stout frame in a beautiful arc--
--only to fall into an empty pool, as the Rebel Star flops aside and gets to all fours, pausing to suck in heavy breaths as she stares sidelong at her writhing opponent. Shaking her head, she shoves herself upright, pointing out to the crowd and cupping a hand to her ear. She wants them back, and they oblige in this moment, the chants swaying in favor of the champion. Smiling, Rhodes turns back to James, dragging him up by a handful of hair and laying in a sharp sequence of body blows. He's dazed, but tries to counter with a short-arm clothesline. Rhodes uses the gathered momentum against him, falling onto her back for a tomoe nage, launching the big man skyward with an upraised foot!
James crashes down. Rhodes kips up. Hungry, predatory, she lunges for the downed man and attempts to bend him into the Rebel Death Lock that brought low Tyler Bradford, but James has the wherewithal to turn it around, and drags Mel down to the mat where he assumes mount and starts raining down hammering blows! She covers up as best she can, but the man's a bear, and beats her into the canvas before standing, grinning breathlessly, to hit a somersault leg drop! He covers!

Rhodes denies it fiercely, rolls him off into a mount of her own. He instinctively moves to cover, as she did, but she stands and whirls into a standing moonsault. Her own cover is made momentarily before she breaks it of her own accord, pushing James down as he tries to stand, finding her own feet first and taking a few, swaggering steps away from the challenger. Fury crosses his features, and he drags himself up with a scowl, lunging at the champion's back.
Like liquid mercury, the Rebel Star turns and catches Nick James with her cutter! Holding on, she inverts her body and rises to a low squat, an arm under his chin, locking in the Rebel Star Slayer. It's tight! A few moments pass as James refuses to tap, starts to scream defiance, and then goes limp. The official picks up his hand, and it drops...
DING DING DING
Stroup: Your winner, via submission, and still the FX Broadcast Champion ... THE REBEL STAR, MELINDA RHODES!
As savvy as her final ploy was, Melinda Rhodes has given her all to put this one away, and falls seated to the mat as her music fills the arena. She's shaking her head, as if in disbelief at her own victory, smiling wryly at the fans as they rally behind her. It's with tears in her eyes and a disbelieving, goofy grin that she finally gets to her feet and accepts the belt from referee Paul Turner, thrusting it into the air with both arms as Edmonton salutes her!
Aiello: Well, he was the home nation hero coming into this one, but the veteran Rebel proves once more that her winning this title was no accident. Matched in intensity and outsmarted in the final innings, Nick James came out strong but just couldn't put it away. Our FX Broadcast Champion, Melinda Rhodes, is advancing to StrangleMania with the Brawl fans behind her!
Bennett: On another night, James might just have had the edge in intensity, Joe. But you said it. We damn well hope we get to run this one again, but for now, the Rhodes to StrangleMania is paved with rebellious intentions.
Aiello: Well folks, Rhodes now has punched her ticket for a possible shot at the International Championship by going to StrangleMania still the FX Broadcast Champion...but up next is our main event, with the EWC International Championship ON THE LINE! Xavier Reid looks to defend against Gabi Vee, with the winner moving on to StrangleMania to defend against Iggy Swango...but it seems we have a message from our champion backstage!
Camera cuts to ...
The camera cuts backstage inside the Commonwealth Stadium where we find Bob Murray.
Murray: Ladies and gentlemen of Edmonton, please help me welcome at this time, the EWC International Champion…and your native son XAVIER REID!!!!
The stadium erupts into cheer as the camera pulls back to show Xavier Reid standing next to Bob Murray. A smile flashes across his face at the reaction from his hometown. The camera pulls back yet again to show the men are joined by ‘The Memphis Mouthpiece’ Tommy Love, who also gets a huge cheer from the sold out crowd. Bob Murray looks a bit shocked as he shakes his head.
Murray: We really have crossed over into the upside down here if Tommy is getting cheered…
But Xavier reaches out and places his hand on Bob’s shoulder.
Reid: Bob, this isn’t the upside down…this is loyalty…loyalty to their own. I was born and raised here, became the man you see here today because of THOSE people out there. I wouldn’t be here today without many of the people out there in those seats tonight and for that I want to say…THANK YOU!!!
This draws yet another huge cheer from the Edmonton faithful
Reid: You don’t understand what tonight means to me, to be here and get the opportunity to wrestle in my hometown…in front of my family and friends…
The camera cuts to ringside where we see Xavier’s mother Mary Reid and his sister Ashley Reid sitting with friends of the family before cutting back to Xavier and Tommy.
Reid: To get the chance to defend THIS…
Xavier holds up the EWC International Championship drawing yet another cheer from the fans.
Reid: And make history right here in front of them all…
Murray: One International Championship defense shy of tying Cyrus Black’s record for the Most Championship Defenses Record of 4…and would set the record of Most Cumulative Championship Defenses with 5 here on day number…
Love: 344 Bob…and how fitting it is for Xavier’s opponent to be Gabrielle Visconty…
Shockingly this draws boos from the Edmonton crowd…something that brings a smile to Tommy’s face.
Reid: Gabi, you came all this way to what…try and embarrass me in front of my hometown? Do you not remember Brawl #565? When we all traveled to Honolulu, Hawaii…YOUR hometown, do you not remember how motivated you were that night, hell you scored one of your biggest wins of the season that night over Samantha Hamiltion because failing in front of YOUR hometown was just not an option yet…
Love: You think Xavier won’t fight with that same desperation here in front of HIS hometown? Are you really that self centered to think that ONLY YOU can draw that kind of motivation to win in your own backyard?
Reid: Of course she does Tommy, it’s that same self centered attitude that allows her to walk around this place THINKING that this championship is hers…ignoring the fact that I beat her right in the center of the ring at StrangleMania…she’s so delusional that in her warped mind that I somehow STOLE this championship from her…refusing to face the facts that she lost…without the aid of Tommy Love…that she wasn’t good enough to be the International Champion…while me…
Love: Has re-written the International Championship record books…
Reid: You TRY and act like I've soiled this championship…ignoring the fact that I defended this THREE times last season, beat BOSA, KING FLIP and STITCHES!!! Pinned the then Undisputed Champion at the Season Finale of Brawl…won for the SECOND TIME Brawl Wrestler of the Year but in your mind I’ve done NOTHING as champion…
Love: You have to understand Xavier, she needs to believe that to make her own championship run not seem like the total failure it was…see Gabi didn’t pin the then Undisputed Champion Stitches when she was International Champion…she didn’t defend that championship…in fact those 108 days were some of the darkest days that championship has ever seen…
Reid: You try and re-write history Gabi to make your case…claim I don’t care about this championship when in fact it means EVERYTHING to me…you twist my worlds out of content and out of time frame to fit your message that I just handed this over without a second thought…you stupid twit…I said it was the right thing to do while I was the Undisputed Champion because I had seen what happens when it’s held by a man that was also the Undisputed Champion…it took a back seat and I care too much about this championship to allow that…but when it came time to hand it over I was no longer the Undisputed Champion and I was stripped of this championship…and let’s not forget the Board of Directors changed that rule in that offseason because they knew they fucked up…
Love: It saved Jordan Sharpe but not Xavier Reid…
Reid: I came back last season with one clear mission…to take back what was stolen from me…I had to beat Clay Byrd in order to get my match…something that never should have happened having defended the International Championship…I fought through every damn roadblock that was put in front of me to get this back…someone who didn’t care would have never went through what I did to win this back…and yet what…you think I’m just going to hand it over to you tonight here in my hometown because you want it…I’m sorry princess…that’s not how it’s going to work here tonight…
The fans cheer Xavier as he shifts the championship on his shoulder.
Reid: You picked the wrong place and the wrong time to cash in your WrestleFest winnings, showing once again your poor life decisions and judgment…see I’ve dreamed of THIS moment since I was a child, coming back home to wrestle in front of my family in a championship match and I’ll be damned if I let YOU of all people crush that dream…Gabi I’ve watched and listened as you ran down people week after week, acting like YOU are superior to them…I watched as you acted like our Undisputed Champion was beneath you…called his win what again…
Love: Lucky…
Reid: Right, ignoring the fact that Killjoy has more wins over Ace King than anyone else in the EWC yet he was LUCKY…you really are a twit aren’t you but I can’t be shocked…you do think you are walking into this stadium tonight and beating me…see the reality is in all our years you’ve only beaten me ONCE…and it was with this man’s help…
Xavier points at Tommy, who mouths ‘I’m sorry’...
Reid: Don’t be…you were doing your job Tommy but the fact is Gabi needed you in order to beat me yet I pinned her ass how many times on my own…
Love: Well all of them…
Reid: That’s right and tonight she will have one eye on you at all times because she can’t quit you Tommy…hell listening to her promos I would have thought she was facing you here tonight…you are clearly in her head…
Love: Once you go LOVE you don’t go back…
Tommy smiles and winks into the camera.
Reid: While I’ll have 100% of my focus on her…on making history here tonight because Gabi…beating you to etch my name in the record books…to force you to remember THIS night everytime they talk about the records of the International Championship…to remember the time you THOUGHT you’d be able to come here, to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, that you walked into the Commonwealth Stadium to face Xavier Reid for the International Championship and THOUGHT you had a chance in hell of winning…that you THOUGHT you’d take EVERYTHING from me in my hometown…Gabi tonight I end any all all hope you ever had of winning this back and I’ll be the reason why you once again walk away from Brawl or take another ‘injury’ vacation…tonight XAVIER REID RETURNS HOME and I promise you all I’ll be holding this championship when the final bell rings…
The crowd pops huge as Xavier walks away from Bob Murray, before we go to our final commercial break of the night…
GABI VEE CASHES IN! WHO GOES TO STRANGLEMANIA?
[SINGLES MATCH]
FOR THE EWC INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
VS | ||
Gabrielle Visconty | Xavier Reid |
We return to ringside where the ring is getting set up in preparation for the evening’s main event. The audience is loudly cheering, and we can hear they’re primarily doing so for Xavier Reid, their hometown hero, as it were. We cut to commentary while the EWC crew continues inspecting the ring.
Aiello: Welcome back, folks! We’re about to see another classic that has happened multiple times, but may very well be the most violent version of this fight we’ll witness to date! Gabi Vee will face off against our International Champion, Xavier Reid! And in his hometown, no less!
Bennett: Reid is a vicious son of a bitch, but Gabi can be just as brutal when she wants to be. The time for guessing is over. Stroup! Take us away! Let’s find out who’ll be victorious tonight!
Stroup: The following match is for one fall, and it is for the EWC International Championship! Joining us first, from Honolulu, Hawaii, weighing in at 126 pounds ... GABI VEE!
The lights in the arena dim as a single spot light shines down on the entrance. Halestorm's "I Am The Fire" begins to play as the X-Tron lights up to display G A B I V E E ! ! ! before the lyrics to “I Am The Fire” begin to scroll across it.
Am I brave enough?
Am I strong enough?
To follow the desire
That burns from within
To push away my fear
To stand where I'm afraid
I am through with this
'Cause I am more than this
Am I strong enough?
To follow the desire
That burns from within
To push away my fear
To stand where I'm afraid
I am through with this
'Cause I am more than this
Gabrielle Visconty walks out of the back and stops at the top of the ramp. Her blue eyes scan over the area as the fans welcome Gabi Vee with cheers. A huge grin spreads across her face as she walks down the ramp and towards the ring. The lyrics continue to follow along on the X-Tron.
Cuz I am more than this
I promise to myself
Alone and no one else
My flame is rising higher
I am the fire
I am burning brighter
Roaring like a storm
And I am the one I've been waiting for
Screaming like a siren
Alive and burning brighter
I am the fire
I promise to myself
Alone and no one else
My flame is rising higher
I am the fire
I am burning brighter
Roaring like a storm
And I am the one I've been waiting for
Screaming like a siren
Alive and burning brighter
I am the fire
Gabi slaps hands and interacts with the crowd before she hops up nimbly onto the edge of the ring to smile out at the crowd once more. Gabi turns and springboard herself gracefully into the ring, then ventures over to her corner.
Stroup: And her opponent, being accompanied to the ring by ‘The Memphis Mouthpiece’ Tommy Love, from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, weighing in at 220 pounds, HE IS THE INTERNATIONAL CHAMPION ... XAVIER REID!
The spotlights inside the arena start to flash around the crowd as 'Papercut' starts to play out
Xavier Reid walks out onto the stage in his new black trunks, kickpads and boots, his hands wrapped in black tape with the EWC International Championship around his waist and following him out is ‘The Memphis Mouthpiece’ Tommy Love. He walks to the front of the stage and crosses his arms into an X in front of his chest and smirks as Tommy follows from behind and acts as if he’s going to hit the camera with the ‘Love Stick’. Tommy points to the ring as Xavier unhooks the International Championship and hands it to Tommy who raises it into the air as Xavier walks towards the ring shadow boxing as he makes his way down the aisle. Xavier storms up the steps and climbs into the ring, Tommy follows suit and walks towards the referee, already complaining about something. Xavier storms across the ring to the opposite corner and jumps to the middle rope and looks over the crowd and once again crosses his arms into an X as Tommy holds up the International Championship in the officials face and reminds him who the champion is face but the official ignores him and walks away as Tommy laughs. Xavier jumps down and squats down in the corner waiting for the bell.
Aiello: Ready or not, here we go! This one’s gonna be a doozy, but by the end of this fight, we’ll find out who will go to Stranglemania as the International Champion!
DING DING DING
Gabi goes for the ropes, using them to launch herself towards Xavier as she goes for a Springboard Bulldog. But NO! Xavier catches Gabi. He then proceeds to drop her, allowing The Angel to unceremoniously fall out of his arms. He grabs onto her arms and wastes little time in going for the Fuck You Stomp!
Gabi’s arms, however, are the only things that Xavier is holding onto. She manages to roll and dodge away. This merely causes Xavier to adjust his aim in hopes of slamming his boots straight onto Gabi’s head!
The Angel is quick to understand the danger she could be in if she doesn’t act fast. So … she swings her right leg and smacks it against Xavier’s shin. The pain is enough that his grip on her arms weakens and Gabi is allowed the ability to roll away, now free.
What she doesn’t expect, however, are the massive amount of boos and jeers that she receives. Xavier merely grins to the crowd, with Tommy joining in on the gesture. Gabi scoffs and tries to ignore the audience, but they simply get louder. Her head turns … but then she realizes her own mistake, albeit a few milliseconds too late!
Xavier damn well nearly beheads her as he runs forward and takes her down with an up close and very personal Clothesline!
The boos quickly turn to cheers as Xavier steadily gets the upper hand. Not a huge advantage, but enough to turn the tide of the fight into his favor. Gabi shakes her head and slowly begins getting back to a vertical base.
Aiello: Things are pretty even here in the early stages of this main event, Steve!
Bennett: Perhaps, but the tide can turn either way in an instant!
Xavier reaches down and begins to grab a handful of Gabi’s hair. Before he can finish, The Angel smacks Reid’s hand away. She then yanks hard on his arm and tries to trap it in a tight armbar. The Champion is grimacing, and thus revealing he is in pain.
But not nearly enough to tap or give up just yet.
Using the weight difference to his advantage, he lifts his arm up. Gabi is stubbornly continuing to hold on! She’s not letting go! He hoists The Angel into a Fireman’s Carry, although a slightly messy version since Gabi is still determined to deliver as much pain as possible to his arm.
Reid runs backwards, intending to slam Gabi against the turnbuckle …. OH SHIT! Right at the last possible second, Gabi lets go, and Xavier’s back is the only thing that slams viciously into the turnbuckle! He falls onto the canvas, his back arching. His arm is trembling, but it’s clear the turnbuckle did much more and worse damage than Gabi!
Still, Gabi is otherwise pleased with what she sees! She takes advantage of Reid reeling in pain and ascends the ropes! She goes for The Angelbomb! It lands flush!
Gabi hooks the legs!
ONE!
TWO!! NO!!!
Xavier kicks out, glaring a hole at Gabi. She merely returns the look, clicking her tongue in annoyance as she backs away from the Champion. The crowd cheers at Reid’s own display of stubbornness while also showing he’s not yet done fighting.
The two wrestlers begin to circle one another, looking for an opening.
Aiello: Tension is mounting here!
Bennett: Ah, there goes Reid now!
Reid uses a Russian Leg Sweep to force Gabi onto the mat. He quickly puts a boot right onto her sternum and starts applying pressure. Gabi screams out and desperately tries to pull his boot off, but it’s to no avail. Tommy is enjoying the sight before him … maybe a bit too much. Gabi growls, flashing him an irked look while still trying to pull the boot off.
The referee comes over to Reid and warns him he’ll be disqualified if he doesn’t pull his foot away soon. The Champion scoffs but heeds the warning and pulls his boot off. The relief Gabi feels is very short lived, however, as Xavier picks Gabi up and sits her atop the highest turnbuckle …
Only to turn her upside down and slam her head right down on it with the CTE!
Gabi looks completely out of it! Reid kicks the literal Fallen Angel towards the center of the ring. Nothing! No signs of movement are seen! Referee Daniels demands that Xavier stays back as he grabs Gabi’s right arm and lifts it up.
It falls to the ground the first time, as well as the second. Right before it lands on the canvas the third time, however … it stops! Gabi shows signs of life as she weakly lifts her head, only to be greeted with taunting laughter from Xavier, Tommy, and the audience.
She ignores them all … even takes a few seconds to flip them off. That makes the boos return, but The Angel is beyond caring right now. Gabi makes a feint! At first, it seems like she tries to grab for the Champion’s arm, but that’s not her real target! It’s his knee, which she squeezes down on!
The moment Xavier leans down, she slips behind him and delivers a brutal kick straight to his spine. Once Reid is down, Gabi begins working on locking in a Muta Lock! She manages to get it in, and Reid wastes little time in fighting back!
Aiello: Reid is really on it now, Steve!
Bennett: Of course! The champ wants to retain his title, to make history on front of HIS hometown fans!
Fortunately, Reid is quick to come up with an idea. He rolls onto his back, trapping Gabi against the canvas. She tries to hold on and strengthen the lock. Xavier, meanwhile, slams his head back - hard - against Gabi’s forehead and mercilessly begins headbutting her.
Gabi shakes and whimpers in pain. She tries her best to keep her grip. Eventually, the pain becomes too much and she does let go. Once Xavier stands up and the camera zooms up on The Angel, we do see her head is busted open!
The crowd cheers at this while Gabi just shakes her head, still baffled at the response she’s getting. It seems there is no one in any of the seats willing to cheer for The Angel.
Reid is far from done with Gabi, much to her misfortune. Gabrielle turns her head in time to see that Xavier had moved away, closer to one of the corner turnbuckles. Once he gets close up to The Angel, he delivers a brutal punt straight to Gabi’s forehead!
As she falls onto the canvas, Xavier goes for the cover!
ONE!
TWO!!
TH – NO!!!
Gabi just barely gets a shoulder up in time. Reid grits his teeth, but manages to keep his calm and stays determined to end this fight with the next huge move he delivers.
Gabi, meanwhile, is fighting her damnedest to remain conscious and able to succeed in finding her own way to secure a victory.
Aiello: Gabi is starting to look frustrated here.
Bennett: I don't blame her, one slip up and she walks out of here empty-handed!
Using what one can assume to be sheer will power and adrenaline, Gabi hurries over towards the ropes. She climbs up on them … and leaps off! It’s The Falling! Reid catches Gabi once more, raising an eyebrow as if to silently ask what she’s thinking.
She responds by drilling an elbow hard into Xavier’s forehead! He stumbles, but keeps his balance! So she rams her elbow in the same spot one more time … two more times … three! Finally, on the fourth one, Reid loses his balance and falls onto his back!
Gabi - probably literally - smells blood and hooks the legs! Tommy attempts to get the referee’s attention, but he’s too late! Daniels’ hand is slapping down on the mat!
ONE!
TWO!!
Tommy looks beside himself and screams at Xavier to get a grip!
THREE!!!
Xavier gets a shoulder up, but it’s too late!
DING DING DING
Stroup: And your winner, via pinfall, AND THE NEW EWC INTERNATIONAL CHAMPION, GABI VEE!
Both Reid and Tommy immediately get into Daniels’ face, arguing about the results. Poor Josh is outnumbered, but he stands his ground and continues to hold two fingers up in both Xavier and Tommy’s faces.
Gabi, meanwhile, takes the International Title away, holds it up in front of the crowd, and sticks her tongue out! They boo her loudly, but she’s too happy to care. Tears of joy begin to form in her eyes as she shakily exits the ring and hurries towards backstage, not wanting to remain in the ring while Xavier and Tommy are still nearby.
Apparently, it was the right call to make. Xavier and Tommy are so livid that they shove Josh. He stumbles back and whistles, signaling he needs some security to come down.
Both Xavier and Tommy are told they can either leave quietly or by force. Tommy is screaming that this isn’t over, but otherwise exits the ring with Xavier. The two talk to one another as they also go backstage. Meanwhile, we cut to commentary.
Aiello: She has done it! Gabi has joined Xavier Reid and Ashton Drake in holding the International Championship twice now! She will have her first defense at StrangleMania XVII!
Bennett: But you damn well better believe that, as Tommy was insisting, this is far from over. We will very likely see another Gabi vs. Xavier fight. Until then, tonight was indeed The Angel’s night.
Aiello: What a match, what a main event! And now--
Gabi's celebration is cut short by the sound of "Da Da Da" over the PA, prompting a bit of booing toward the General Manager as he steps out onto the stage.
Connors: Gabi Vee, I just want you to know how proud I am that you've managed to overcome the odds here tonight to become the NEW International Champion!
This is met with some more boos from the fans in the Edmonton crowd that were fully in support of Reid retaining tonight.
Connors: Reid, I know this title run meant a lot to you, so I'm gonna let you consider cashing in your rematch clause. I owe you that much, don't I?
Reid and Love both shout abuse at Connors, largely in agreement of the idea.
Connors: But before we end the night, I need to address the match at StrangleMania...a match that needs to be befitting of the show's name and lineage. Now, here's something you should know about me...I love a good ladder match. But, we've seen plenty of those the past few months, so it's time we give people something a little more...violent. Gabi, congratulations on winning the International Championship tonight...but I hope you're ready to defend that against Iggy Swango in a Barbed Wire Ladder Match!
The crowd is stunned by the announcement, but not nearly as much as as the new champion as the show comes to a close...
