"START A FIGHT" by GHØSTKID blasts in the Arena
The show starts off with video footage detailing historic events over Monday Night BRAWL's history.
From episode 001 in 1997 all the way down to the last episode #XXX in XXXX.
Images of previous EWC Champions are shown, starting with the very first Champion Black Ninja, then moving onto Big Mac and Steve Bennett. Sped up footage then shows a special montage of Memphis Reigns, Shadow Man, Hirsh Valentine, Jesse Nunez, Hurricane Jeff, Moses Lake, James Chambers, BDC, Jay Cee, Stray, Gladiator, The Rev, Ruthann Hunter, Ashton Drake and then Xplode all with the EWC Championship.
From there we look at the dawning of the Undisputed Championship as we know it today, from Xplode defeating Shadow Man to unify the belts to footage of the men and women of BRAWL who have held the illustrious title including Ashton Drake, Candy, Dominic Sanders, Cyrus Black, and Xavier Reid, before ending on the current champion Killjoy Ito.
Sped up footage again then takes us through to current Monday Night BRAWL Superstars: Xavier Reid, King Flip, Sour Candy, KU, Antoni Malietoa, Stitches, Rebel Rhodes, Darius, Iggy Swango, Dio, and others making their way onto the red brand.
We then get a shot of the Champions of BRAWL:
Rebel Rhodes with the FX Broadcast Championship
King Flip with the EWC International Championship
The opening pyros blast across the stage and here we go.

Aiello: Hello everyone, and welcome to Monday Night BRAWL! Greetings to you and yours from lovely Baku, Azerbaijan, where we're in for some excellent in-ring action as we start the road to Parabellum!
Bennett: That's right Joe, we're still recovering from one hell of a PPV event in Hardcore Revolution but we're already on the road to Brand Warfare...but first we have some rough fights ahead!
Aiello: Our main event sees Melinda Rhodes taking on Iggy Swango with the FX Broadcast Championship on the line, and you gotta wonder if Iggy's head is in the game after that attack at Hardcore Revolution!
Bennett: I sure hope so Steve, or she's in for a long night against the champ!
Aiello: We also have an X-Division match set for tonight as Gabrielle Visconty takes on Dio, each looking to make a statement here!
Bennett: Gabi wants to prove she's more than ready to go after the International Championship again, but Dio earned a future shot at the X-Division Championship...and he's not gonna let anyone forget that!
Aiello: It'll definitely be a violent one for sure, Steve! We also have a battle ahead of us between Caleb Scott and Chelsea Skye, both of whom are looking to get into title contention with a big win tonight...as are Zack Tyler and Alex Carbajal in our opening contest! Lots of action ahead, don't go away!
The fans in Baku are at a fever pitch ready for the opening match of Monday Night Brawl. People are screaming in the stands as chants of MNB continue to echo through Baku Crystal Hall. Instead of the expected theme music to start of Bullet or Tyler though, they are treated to a sound that Brawl hasn’t heard in over a year. “Fast Lane” plays and the crowd erupts to an unexpected surprise. The newly crowned EWC North American Champion steps from out the tunnel and looks around soaking in the cheers with a big smile on his face as he looks around at the fans with his title up high on his shoulder. Everyone is shocked to see him since he was unannounced and normally stays on Paramount, including Joe Aiello and Steve Bennett.
Joe Aiello: Well, this is certainly a surprise. We have Marcu$ $t. John here. What is he doing on Brawl right now? We haven’t seen him since last year on Brawl since #565.
Steve Bennett: If I was a betting man, I’d have to say that this has something to do with the upcoming Brawl #586.
By this time M$J had made it to the ring steps but bypasses them and comes over to the announce table. He smiles at Aiello and Bennett before fist bumping a few fans near the table. M$J proceeds to grab a microphone then jumps up on the ring apron and flips over the top rope just as his music stops.
M$J: Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve been here. A year and three months to be exact. The last time I was on Brawl I competed in a triple threat match and not only walked away victorious but I walked away as the MVP of the night, imagine that. In a month and a half, the entire EWC collides at Parabellum but before that, in a month, Paramount invades Brawl. Last year at Paramount 9 Brawl invaded and I will always remember that night because that’s the first time I ever won gold. I became the North American Champion. I also became a member of Team Paramount for Parabellum on that night as well. But enough about the past. I know every superstar in the back is listening to what I’m saying right now but more importantly, I know that Jim Connors is listening. Will I grace your wrestling ring again when Paramount comes to Brawl in a few weeks?
The crowd cheers at the idea of Marcu$ having a match on the FX Network. They start a “Do It” chant as he listens to the adulation from them before continuing.
M$J: I know how these things usually work with “Invasions”. Someone comes on a show and starts some trouble, maybe attacks a few of that brand’s superstars to rile them up. Nope, not me. I said to myself what better way than to walk through the front door by kicking it in and announcing that Paramount is going to walk away at Parabellum as the winning brand, not because we were sneaky or because we jumped certain stars, but because we are going to walk into Phuket Island and show the world why Paramount is the best damn brand in the business.
That comment gets a couple of boos as the crowd seems loyal to Brawl.
M$J: I know that Brawl has plenty to offer. I mean I’ve went up against several of the boys and girls in the back before. Who will you send to the island? Will it be a certain Benchmark, maybe you need a little color and you’ll send the Clown, will you decide to make it Sour, but those personalities mixed together could be your Crux.
He smiles at his little pun there before continuing.
M$J: Seriously you have so many options. Sometimes I turn on some “Intercepted Transmissions from the Loveship Oblivion” (he winks at the camera) and think about the possibilities. The Bastard is a little lighter, I know he’s itching for a fight, or you get a little REBELlious. You also have a certain Black Tree on your roster, maybe you can pair them with a 2nd Generation Superstar that’s a real gremlin. How about this, how about you surprise everyone with a certain NY Superstar coming back from injury and pair him with a six-foot six Great Warrior. Maybe you go a little unconventional and send a Bullet through the EWC and pair them with a newer star like a Nightmare Angel, or its truly time for Generation Z and you put them with a certain man who lost his Order. You’ve got a lot of planning to do there Jim. As does every GM in the EWC. I’m here to put you on notice that whatever decisions you make, Paramount will be ready. Enjoy your show!
He places the microphone down in the center of the ring and places a Paramount t-shirt down with it. The intentions are pretty clear that Marcu$ $t. John plans for Paramount to win its first ever Parabellum match.
Aiello: Oh boy, what a statement from the new EWC North American Champion!
Bennett: I'll give the man credit, but you know Connors is already looking to see how to respond!

Backstage we find the Rebel Star walking the halls. She sports her favorite red vest, blue jeans, black ankle boots, fingerless gloves, and an ALESTORM T-shirt, their undead pirate captain mascot Yarrface of Rumahoy decorating the front of it. On her shoulder is the Brawl FX Championship, naturally. She waves to a friend here, gives a nod to an official there. Suddenly the heavy thud of boots worn by a very tall and large man sound out. Her gaze averts to her left with the camera following to find the tall frame of Morgan Darkwater, dressed to the nines in full pirate garb. He smiles as Mel steps into frame, smiling right back at him.
Rebel: Morgan Darkwater?! DDDUDE! Where the fuck you been man? Missed ya!
The Rebel and the Pirate clap hands together in a firm shake, Predator style. which then results in the two pulling each other in for a tight hug.
Darkwater: Aye, an’ I missed ye too, lass. As fer where I been, that … that’s a long story, I’m afraid, an’ one best left fer a night o’ rum an’ reminiscin’... but look at ye! Champion again, an’ rockin’ an Alestorm t-shirt like ye somehow knew I’d be here..!
She chuckles a bit and shrugs.
Rebel: Heard you were back in town, figured a Yarrface T-shirt would be fitting to commemorate the occasion. It’s good to be back and even greater seeing you here. It’ll be like old times with a few upgrades though.
He cocks his head to one side, smiling almost wistfully, broad arms cross over his chest.
Darkwater: Well, I appreciate th’ sentiment. As fer it bein’ like old times, however, that remains t’be seen… might need to get a piece o’ gold me’self before that happens.
He nods towards her FX Championship belt, smiling broadly as he strokes his full dark beard thoughtfully.
Darkwater: Now, I’m not sayin’ I be comin’ fer ye or anythin’ like that - th’ Cap’n knows he’s gotta earn a shot, same as anyone else, an’ there’s other titles he could aim fer, too. But still… like old times, eh?
There’s a wry, almost coy smirk playing across her painted lips as she cocks her brow at the big man. Tilting her head ever so slightly to the right she nods.
Rebel: Yeah, we could do that. Of course I don’t work the booking here, but given the history between us in the ring, they’d be fools not to book it. Darkwater vs Rhodes II would be a hell of a thing and I’m in a much better place mentally than I was before. Hell, might even surprise you with what I could bench these days.
She gives a little flex of her tattooed arm, showing a surprising amount of tone and thickness of the bicep. He leans down to observe closer, nodding approvingly.
Darkwater: I can see th’ hard work an’ dedication payin’ off! Heard ye were hospitalized recently, too, on th’ verge o’ death… somethin’ t’do with garden shears? Reminded me o’ th’ time I dug me own cutlass into me forearm t’ put th’ almighty fear o’ god into that knave Carner back in th’ day… glad to see ye haven’t lost ye fire, either! An’ ye be right - a rematch fer th’ ages, it would be! Sure to sell-out the arena, an’ be match o’ th’ night - hells, th’ year! But this Captain has to prove himself worthy ‘fore that happens… that he, too, still has what it takes to be worthy of th’ name “Champion”.
With a little nod, Mel playfully taps her knuckles to Morgan’s arm.
Rebel: The fact that you’re standing here backstage in one of the greatest companies in the world says you’re worthy, Morgs. All you gotta’ do is step in that ring, kick ass, and be the all time great I know you’re capable of. Even on my worst day, I ain’t an easy tackle by any stretch and you beat me once. Maybe you’ll be the one to wrestle this belt from me if I get past Iggy Swango tonight.
He chuckles softly and places a large hand on her shoulder.
Darkwater: Heh, well all time great might be a bit of a stretch, I appreciate yer belief in this old seadog. As fer kickin’ ass like never before, just ye wait an’ see - I already left a certain Mr. Banana rueing the day he was assigned th’ same match as me, if he can even recall th’ thrashin’ I gave him, hah! So I guess we’ll just see what th’ future holds fer th’ both of us, hmm?
She nods with a grin.
Rebel: That we shall but uh… you got Yaya Banana? Dude! Banana’s a fan fave and all I got was that Keller guy when I came back. Dude, I am so jealous of you right now. Seriously, the fans are always screaming for Yaya Banana!
Mel lets out a little laugh, and Morgan joins in with a throaty, bellowing one of his own.
Darkwater: Aye! The fans were sure conflicted when me theme kicked in an’ they realised he was facin’ me! They didn’t know who to cheer fer more! Poor man wasn’t exactly sharin’ their enthusiasm, however…
Rebel: His eyes about bugged out his head when he saw you.
Darkwater: That they did! But a man has to keep his promises, an’ as I said prior, I held nothin’ back in that match - I wish him a speedy recovery, all the same, but that be only the beginnin’ of th’ Captain’s return! But anyways… I’m sure ye have this match well an’ truly scouted, Miss Rhodes. Of that I have nay fears. So ye go out there, shine like the Sun, and tear th’ house down!
The Rebel holds her hand out and she and the Pirate Captain tap knuckles.
Rebel: Will do, chief! Enjoy the show!
She then saunters off to go meet and greet a few others backstage, leaving the Captain alone with the camera as he slowly turns to fix it with a firm gaze and a wry smile.
Darkwater: Aye, that I will… that I will.
With that final statement we cut to ringside!
The crowd is buzzing as they wait for the first match to begin. K I N G F L I P zooms from right to left across the X-Tron and is followed swiftly by a pyro. The arena erupts in cheer as 'Machinegun' begins to play as the man in the hooded vest, head low, emerges from the curtain. He gets to the edge of the rampway when he lifts his hood to reveal that arrogant half smile.
Stroup: Ladies and gentlemen, please join me in welcoming BRAWL's new International Champion... Kiiiing Flip!
Flip unbuckles the vest to reveal the championship belt around his waist. The lyrics chime in as he walks slowly down the ramp with his eyes locked in on the ring. He rolls into the ring, gets to his feet, unbuckles the championship around his waist, and raises it in the air as he rises to the second turnbuckle.
Aiello: Your International champion! OUR International champion!
Bennett: Not that I'm not happy for him, but don't you think you're marking a bit right now?
Aiello: Oh, knock it off, you curmudgeon. King Flip beat Xavier Reid clean in an Inferno Match at Hardcore Revolution. He deserves to be happy and I deserve to be happy for him!
"C-H-K! C-H-K! C-H-K!"
The theme fades as the chant from the crowd continues. Flip soaks it in for a moment, eyes closed, before hopping to the top turnbuckle and executing a back flip off of it. He lands cleanly on the canvas and hops into a turn to the other side of the ring for one more pose against the ropes with the title raised up. Flip lowers the belt to his shoulder and speaks to Stroup for a moment. She hands him her microphone and goes to exit the ring.
King Flip: Whoa, whoa, whoa... hold on a second there, Miss Stroup. I want you to be in here for this. It's pretty cool. C'mon, get back in here.
The ring announcer looks a little confused, but she returns to her position in the ring nervously. Flip points to the X-Tron as it fires up. A photo of Reid displays on the screen for a moment before a huge crown stamp graphic appears over it, plastering the photo of Reid with the International championship with the word 'CONQUERED' over it. Flip has his arm over Stroup's shoulders and can be seen laughing. The graphic changes to show himself with the title with the words 'NEW INTERNATIONAL CHAMPION' in a flaming text under it. Just then, huge pops emit from the roof of the arena. Stroup cowers around but Flip assures her she's okay as a mass of red confetti flutters down from above and a terrible karaoke rendition of "We Are the Champions" by Flip plays over the public announce system. Flip tries to get Stroup to join in on the singing but she's too shy and not interested in singing into the microphone. This goes on for several minutes, the song fades, and the King continues on.
King Flip: Well, now that I've gotten a little pomp and circumstance out of the way... it feels damn good to be the champ. But it feels even better to be the champ, right here... in Baku, Azerbaijan!
Huge pop from the crowd. Flip readjusts the title on his shoulder.
King Flip: And now that all that Reidy boy business is done? It's time to move on. It's time to move forward. Xavier Reid broke a ton of records holding this championship belt. He will be remembered as having the most reigns, the longest reign, and the longest cumulative reign with this International championship for quite some time. So I'd like to take a moment and give that man a tip of my crown...
The crowd applauds and Flip encourages them to continue. This goes on for almost half a minute.
Aiello: I... wow. I never expected King Flip to ever say a nice thing about Xavier Reid. For years, these two men have been at each other's throats. You'd think a man with as much pride as the International champion wouldn't ever be able to put something like that behind him, and yet here we are.
Bennett: I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Aiello: Of course you are.
King Flip even looks like there's a 'but' to his last statement, but he just rolls it off his shoulders and taps the championship belt on his shoulder.
King Flip: Those may be big shoes to fill, but I've filled them before.
Bennett: HAHAHA THERE IT IS!
King Flip: And if I can be serious for a minute, I do have some thoughts about the future of King Flip and the future of the International championship...
Just then he's interrupted by-
AM I BRAVE ENOUGH?
AM I STRONG ENOUGH?
AM I STRONG ENOUGH?
The crowd erupts in cheers as Gabrielle Visconty's theme music hits. Gabi walks out of the back and stops just short of the ramp. She smiles out to the crowd as she scans across the arena before returning her gaze to King Flip in the ring. She starts to raise the mic to her mouth but stops, her smile spreading into a full blown grin. She lowers the mic and starts walking towards the ring, her eyes never leaving Flip.
Aiello: Speaking of International Champs, here is Gabi Vee!
Bennett: Great... just what we need.
Aiello: I’m sensing a little sarcasm in your tone, Steve.
Bennett: Ya think?
Gabi climbs the stairs, Flip sitting on the second rope with a welcoming gesture, and slips gracefully between the ropes before clapping for Flip, who in turn enjoys every moment of the accolades. She stops clapping and begins to speak.
Visconty: Congratulations on finishing off the broken man, Flip. You saw it. I saw it... Hell, the whole world saw it. Reid was a broken man. As much as he verbally ejeculated about breaking me, we really know who was broken. I may have fractured my own wrist to beat him in his hometown... In front of his friends and family and ending his record run, but we all knew he was already shattered to his core. We both know what an absolute stroke of genius it was for you to put me in the ring as the guest Ref for your match at Hardcore Revolution. We both know what me being in the ring did to his already fractured eggshell ego. But there is something no one here knows...
Gabi smiles at Flip as she cocks her head to the side a bit. Flip darts his head around as if to look for this mysterious thing no one knows floating in mid air.
Visconty: What we all don’t know, is if you could have beaten me for the title you now have for the second time. And by the way, I want to welcome you to the club, Flip. You’ve joined the likes of Ashton Drake,
The crowd lets out a huge pop at the name drop of Ashton Drake. Gabi chuckles, yet she never looks away from Flip as she lets the crowd cheer for the Hall of Famer for a moment before resuming.
Visconty: Xavier Reid and myself in the two time International Champion club. Sadly, the International title landed back in Reid’s hands after I humiliated him in front of the Edmonton crowd due to my injury, and essentially handed him a three time run.
Gabi shrugs at Flip as she finishes speaking.
Visconty: But you and all the fans in this arena tonight know why I am out here.
Gabi points at the belt draped over Flip’s shoulder and grins mischievously.
King Flip: Fascinating narrative, Miss Visconty, but I'll gloss over that for now to simply say... thank you. Now, I'd love to have the power to say that, hey, you want a title shot? LET'S. GO.
The crowd roars in approval as the King gets inches away from touching noses with Gabrielle. They stare each other down for a moment before Flip raises his mic. He backs up and begins to pace around as he speaks.
King Flip: But I can't do that. Not tonight. Not when you have the philosophical savant already on the card. The man that puts the DON in dong. My good friend Dio. I couldn't take that away from him, facing off against you in an X-Division match. So I won't. But what I will do is DEMAND that that greasy little, no good, not-booking-the-damn-champ showrunner of ours get out here, right now! "CONMAN" JIMBO CONNORS! Get your ass out here and make this official. And don't give me some bullshit singles match, either. I want something with teeth! She's beaten me in singles competition before, and I've made her and her former partner tap out simultaneously in tag action. We... THEY deserve more! And you're going to give it to us, Connors. I can smell you back there... so hit the theme and walk out here.
Sure enough, "Da Da Da" plays over the sound system, gathering a chorus of boos from the crowd as a confused Connors makes his way down to the ring, a microphone of his own in his hand. He looks first at the new International Champion, and then at Visconty, just shaking his head all the while before finally speaking up.
Connors: Look, let's get something settled right off the bat. I'm a businessman, and occasionally I have to make tough decisions. Decisions that people don't like...but are beneficial in the long run.
Jim turns his attention squarely at Gabi.
Connors: Gabi, I made the tough decision to vacate that championship when you were injured. I don't need you or anyone else getting on my case about it anymore, not when more information came to light...not when I had to deal with follow up meetings with the board AND President Mac himself. I got a big headache out of the whole ordeal, but it was worth it to see you get better, to heal up...and earn your rematch at the International Championship.
With that, Jim turns to the new champion Flip.
Connors: And then there's you. King Flip, the brand-new EWC International Champion. Congrats again on winning the title at Hardcore Revolution...but why are you mad, Flip? I offered you a night of rest, to recover from what you went through to win that title...and you get on MY case because I didn't have you set for action tonight?
The GM shifts his focus between the two standing in the ring with him now.
Connors: And to top it all off, you want to pressure me into giving some hardcore, violent match for you two to settle your differences, with the EWC International Championship on the line. I see how it is, Flip...I'll give you two your match.
This gets a big pop from the crowd, but Connors cuts them off with a frustrated tone of voice as he continues.
Connors: But before I do, you're gonna hear ME out. We are on the road to Parabellum now, folks...a road that brings about Brand Warfare. This year, I'M the one tasked with selecting the best of the red brand to join the main event...and I need the EWC International Champion leading the charge.
Jim looks at Flip with a smirk on his face, much to the confusion of the champ.
Connors: As of right now that's you, Flip...but next week, the title and the honor of leading our squad into war is up for grabs when you face Gabrielle Visconty in two weeks, when we head to Belgium. It'll be a match with no disqualifications...
Jim turns to Gabi...and his smirk widens to a grin.
Connors: ...and no ropes.
The announcement, though underplayed in Jim's tone, is met with a roll of the eyes by Gabi and a big pop of support from the crowd!
Connors: I hope that's violent enough for your tastes.
With that, Connors takes his leave from the ring as Flip and Gabi look at each other, a nod of acknowledgement as the crowd continues to cheer for the big announcement. Flip and Gabi eventually take their leave from the ring, and the crew gears up for in-ring action coming up next!
A BULLET WITH ZACK'S NAME ON IT!
SINGLES MATCH
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal
VS Zack Tyler
SINGLES MATCH
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal
VS Zack Tyler
After what's been a crazy night to start, we cut to commentary to kick off our first match of the night!
Aiello: What a statement from Connors tonight, putting an exclamation point on the International Championship situation!
Bennett: Flip opened his gums wanting a match with bite, and he sure as hell got one! You can tell Gabi isn't thrilled about the announcement, but it's gonna be one helluva battle in a couple weeks!
Aiello: And with that we get ready for our opening contest, as Alex Carbajal makes her debut on BRAWL after a successful GAMBIT return...but can Zack Tyler stop her in her tracks?
Stroup: The following match is scheduled for one fall! Joining us first, from New Orleans, Louisiana, weighing in at 135 pounds, she is the Bullet ... ALEX CARBAJAL!
The lights dim and the Shieldmaidens motto “Hell is empty and the Maidens are here!” comes over the Tron as guitar stabs ring out. Concrete Blonde’s “God Is A Bullet” starts up in earnest and Alex “Bullet” Carbajal makes her way out in a full length boxing robe, ready for war. She makes her way to the ring and Bullet steps in, starting to shadowbox the second she steps in. She raises her hands into the air and then nods, ready to go.
Stroup: And her opponent, from The Alley out back, weighing in at 175 pounds ... ZACK TYLER!
The lights go dark as an image of Zack in seen backstage. By now on the entrance stage, fog machines are covering the platform. He stares into the camera with a deep soul stare before the camera fades. Just before the camera cuts off, a quick glimpse of a Red circle with a Red Left hand palm print is seen. Zack's [3:14] music then plays. At the [:17] mark, a Red flash of light illuminates the entrance stage and again at the [:20] mark. At the [:27] mark, Zack rolls out slowly on a skateboard dressed in a Black full length coat with his arms folded over his chest. As he approaches the ring, the skateboard rolls under the ring as he rolls under the bottom rope onto his stomach. The ringside camera catches an up-close image of Zack as he smiles and blood protrudes from his mouth down his chin. Slithering into the corner, he grabs the ropes and pulls himself up to his feet, removing his coat. His music by now has looped or replayed until he folds his hands together as if praying. His eyes roll in the back of his head and the lights come up to normal.
DING DING DING
The bell rings and the two competitors circle around, each looking for just the right opening to take...and Tyler's the first to go for it, charging at the Bullet! Alex dodges a tackle attempt, responding with a hard right hand that rocks Zack! Alex follows up with some more strikes, wearing Tyler down in the process before sending him to the ropes as she looks for a clothesline on the rebound...but Zack ducks it, launching himself off the ropes before connecting with a cross body! Carbajal is down and Zack is quick to his feet, running the ropes for a speed boost before hitting a double foot stomp on the solarplexes of the Bullet. Zack goes to the corner, waiting for Carbajal to get to her feet before looking for a jumping knee strike...but Alex dodges it at the last second!
Alex with a big right hand...and another! She follows up with an elbow strike, over and over again till she forces Tyler toward the corner. The ref has to intervene here, starting a count...but Carbajal breaks it up around the count of four. Alex steps away for just a moment for the clean break...but as soon as Zack takes a step toward her, the Bullet immediately goes back on the attack, sending him over the top rope to the outside! Carbajal follows suit, taking a step outside to stay on top of things...only for Tyler to catch her by surprise with a drop toe hold that sends her face first into the steel steps! Alex goes crashing with a clang as Tyler gets back to his feet, rolling back into the ring.
Aiello: Zack Tyler taking advantage of an opening there and Bullet is out on the outside!
Bennett: Tyler may well have something going if he can follow this up!
Carbajal slowly gets back to her feet as the ref begins the count...meanwhile, Zack runs to the ropes to build up speed before diving over the top rope onto the Bullet! Both competitors come crashing down to the floor, and the ref ends up restarting his count.
ONE...
TWO...
Tyler is already starting to get to his feet here, but Alex is struggling slightly to stand back up.
THREE...
We see the Bullet finally managing to get to a standing position, as is Tyler...and the two go at it with lefts and rights, slugging it out!
FOUR...
FIVE...
Zack looks for an Irish whip on Alex, but the Bullet counters it and sends Tyler into the steps instead! Zack is down as Carbajal slides into the ring.
SIX...
Zack slowly gets back on his feet once more!
SEVEN...
And he slides into the ring in the nick of time! Alex, however, brings Zack back to his feet before unloading a flurry of hooks and punches to his body, really wearing him down in the process!
Aiello: Oh boy, Zack Tyler is really feeling it here!
Bennett: Bullet's looking to make a statement on the red brand, and it could come at the expense of Zack Tyler!
With Zack looking groggy, Bullet pulls him in looking for the ripcord rolling elbow! DIOS ES--NO! Zack dodges it at the last possible moment, saving himself from a world of hurt! He scoops Carbajal up off her feet, dropping her with the Michinoku Driver onto the canvas! Zack goes for the cover!
ONE!
TW--NO!
Alex manages to kick out, showing some much-needed fighting spirit in this contest! She gets back to her feet, and Tyler goes for the spinning heel kick! 66--NOPE! Carbajal dodges it, sending Tyler reeling with a haymaker to the skull! And another! And yet another! Zack is out of it as Alex pulls him in...and connects with the ripcord rolling elbow! DIOS ES UNA BALA! The elbow lands flush against the skull of Zack Tyler, who's out like a light as he drops to the canvas, and Carbajal goes for the cover!
ONE!
TWO!
THREE!
DING DING DING
Stroup: And your winner, via pinfall...the Bullet... ALEX CARBAJAL!
The ref raises Carbajal's hand in victory as Zack Tyler comes to, rolling out of the ring to regroup before we cut to commentary
Aiello: What an opening contest, and what a win for Alex Carbajal!
Bennett: Bullet proved herself tonight here, showing she can hang by beating a pretty game Zack Tyler in the process!
Aiello: And with that we move on to our next match, but I hear we're about to get a few words from one of the competitors right now!
We cut to the back to see what the commotion is about ...
We open in the backstage area where we see "The Nightmare Angel" Chelsea Skye rewatching her match against Gabrielle Visconti at Hardcore Revolution on a monitor, once Gabrielle picks up the win with the Angelrana Chelsea shuts off the monitor before turning to the camera.
Chelsea: There's no way around it, my match against Gabrielle Visconti at Hardcore Revolution was my trial by fire as far as my EWC career was concerned and I got burned.
Chelsea sighs as she leans against the wall with her arms crossed.
Chelsea: I've heard it said by my co-workers that I did great out there, that I went down swinging and all that shit, and I'm not saying that I didn't do that, I went out there seeking to prove that I could hang with some of the best wrestlers in the business and I did just that, but the competitor in me isn't just satisfied with going down fighting, the competitor in me doesn't want to end each match on my back after getting pinned or forced to submit, in other words? I'm about to get back on the winning track and that starts with my match against Caleb Scott tonight!
Chelsea adds before looking at her nails playfully.
Chelsea: Caleb, your last match was against a woman I know very well, I already went into detail about this in my promo and I really don't feel like repeating my talking points from that on Monday Night Brawl but tonight you face someone seventeen years younger and a lot faster than Melinda! Sorry Melinda but I gotta tell it like it is! In other words Caleb, I don't think the same tricks you used on Melinda are going to work on "The Nightmare Angel" Chelsea Skye because you can't punch me in the jaw if you can't catch me first and by the end of the night, you'll know why the Skyes the Limit!
Chelsea walks off as we move to a commercial break.
Back from commercial, we hear a quick voiceover from Joe Aiello.
Aiello: Welcome back, folks! During the break we were given footage that took place at GAMBIT last night, after S.T. made a successful return match there!
With that we cut to the X-Tron for footage from GAMBIT last night!
Jackie "Bandit" Layton and "Psycho" Saoirse Maguire hands are raised but instead of ‘Pledge Your Allegiance’ playing out ‘For The Glory’ plays out inside the Baku Crystal Hall
Wolfe: That is not the music of S.T. but in fact the music of The Bastards…
Tommy Love pops up on the X-Tron with a giant smile on his face as the fans inside Buku Crystal Hall boo loudly at ‘The Memphis Mouthpiece’. He gives them a wink and blows them a kiss which just seems to piss the people of Buku off more.
T. Love: Well it’s really good to see you all as well. I hate that I can’t be there in person but Azerbarjan is a shit hole and I wouldn’t grace any of you with my presents and risk your stink latching on to me…
Tommy smiles as the boos grow louder and louder.
T.Love: So that’s why we are going to you via satellite…that’s right I said WE…
The camera pulls back to show The Bastards, ‘The Love Child’ Jamie Love and Xavier Reid sitting on either side of a smiling Tommy Love
Reid: Jackie, Saoirse first off…welcome back to EWC, I’m glad you found your way back and found the time to fit us in your busy schedule…and congrats on winning a season long contract here on Brawl with this…impressive win tonight…
J. Love: Not something we get to see very often around here
Reid: Now you might be wondering…hell YOU ALL MIGHT BE WONDERING why Jamie and myself would make an appearance here at Gambit of all places…well, it was to have this nice little chat with Jackie and Saoirse and to present them with a great opportunity…you see news broke about two weeks ago of the Weekly Roundup that The Southern Express will be defending the EWC Tag Team Championships July 25th at Parabellum and while we love Bobby and Jimmy well…
J. Love: We also would love nothing more than to call ourselves the EWC Tag Team Champions of the World…now as we stand here tonight, in the not so updated tag team rankings The Bastards sit at #2, behind The Halo Syndicate, who we beat…
Jamie looks over at Xavier and the pair nod
Reid: And who just lost to The Southern Express at Paramount #019 in a title match so we can go ahead and scratch them off the list…making us the de facto #1 team in the rankings and see that’s where you two come in…
J. Love: Let’s face it, Bobby and Jimmy have done their best to clean out the division and right now you don’t see much tag team wrestling so the challenger spot for Parabellum is typically wide open…
Reid: As is our date calendar for Brawl #585…so what do you ladies say…S.T. verses The Bastards…
J. Love: What’s in it for you ladies you might ask, well beat us and you take our spot in the rankings right…that’s how it works Xavier, that’s how King Flip took your Undisputed #5 ranking right…
Jamie cracks a smile at the dig to his partner who just glares at him
J. Love: You could find yourself next in line to face the champions and all that stands in your way is us…
Jamie holds out his hands
Reid: So the challenge has been made ladies, S.T. v. The Bastards at Brawl #585, did you come back to chase championship gold or just to earn a few extra bucks beating the Mean Girlz until you disappear again? This is your chance to vault yourself back into tag team relevance here in the EWC so…what do you say…
The camera cuts away from the X-Tron and back into the ring on Jackie "Bandit" Layton and "Psycho" Saoirse Maguire
Jackie “Bandit” Layton: What do we say?
“Psycho” Saoirse Maguire: Aye, Lads, ye bae on!
The camera cuts to the X-tron where Jamie and Xavier smile...
Reid: Perfect…
J. Love: We will see you ladies at Brawl #585…
They nod at Jackie "Bandit" Layton and "Psycho" Saoirse Maguire as the camera on their end cuts out
Aiello: I've just been informed that indeed, we will see S.T. take on The Bastards in a couple weeks when BRAWL heads to Belgium!
CAN CALEB SCOTT CAUSE THE SKYE TO FALL?
SINGLES MATCH
Caleb Scott
VS Chelsea Skye
SINGLES MATCH
Caleb Scott
VS Chelsea Skye
We return to ringside where commentary is standing by!
Aiello: Well folks, our next match sees Caleb Scott taking on Chelsea Skye!
Bennett: Caleb's been dealing with somewhat of a crisis of faith lately, and Skye is looking to position herself for a future title shot at his expense!
Stroup: The following match is set for one fall. Joining us first, from Chicago. Illinois, she is the “Nightmare Angel” ... CHELSEA SKYE!
"Reborn Through Failure" hits the speakers and Chelsea comes out, ready for her match, she goes down to the ring slapping hands with the fans before rolling into the ring!
Stroup: And the opponent, from St Cloud Minnesota and weighing in at 195 pounds ... CALEB SCOTT!
Lights go black as Ze Nigmar plays. Lights stay off as song intro plays. Once the drums in the song start, a single beam of light from above the ring shoots to the stage as Caleb Scott rises from the floor through a ring of white smoke. No longer on his knee, Caleb stands there for a few seconds looking at the crowd. Caleb begins to slowly walk to the ring as a short row of fire ignites on either side of the entrance ramp. As Caleb goes up the steps and into the ring, the single beam of light following him the entire time. He stands in the middle of the ring, facing the camera, as the ring fills with smoke before the lights turn back on.
DING DING DING
Caleb runs at Skye with a spear but Skye sidesteps him and Caleb connects with nothing but air. Skye runs off the ropes and takes a dazed Caleb to the mat with a flying clothesline. Skye keeps him down with kicks to the ribs and an elbow drop to the lower spine. Skye runs off the ropes but Caleb drops her to the mat with a spinebuster. Caleb lashes out with a superkick that Skye blocks. She pushes his foot away but he kicks her in the gut hitting a DDT. Caleb runs off the ropes but Skye runs at him hitting a spear. She drapes an arm over him.
ONE...
TWO... NO! KICK OUT!
Caleb gets an easy shoulder off the mat. Skye attempts a sharpshooter which Caleb counters with a small package that Skye rolls right out of. She gets to her feet as Caleb charges at her hitting a spear of his own. He covers her.
ONE...
TWO... NO! KICK OUT!
Another easy shoulder off the mat breaks the count. Caleb lifts her off the mat and attempts a DDT but Skye counters with an inverted atomic drop that sends Caleb off the ropes. They meet in the middle of the ring with a clothesline each. Both are down.
Aiello: A very even contest thus far.
Bennett: Someone needs to do something to separate that if one of them is to walk away with a victory.
Caleb is on his feet but he fails to see Skye. He looks around the ring. Nothing. He sees her standing on the ring apron. She leaps onto the ropes and dives at Caleb hitting him with an Angel's Reckoning that drives him into the canvas. She rolls him over and hooks the leg.
ONE...
TWO...
THR... NO! KICK OUT!
Caleb just manages to roll to his side breaking the count. Skye lifts him off the mat and positions him for a suplex. Caleb blocks it before lifting Skye for one of his own which he turns into a Black Night as he brings Skye crashing to the canvas. He places his feet on her shoulders as the referee counts.
ONE...
TWO...
THR... NO! KICK OUT!
Skye cracks her ankles against the sides of Caleb's skull to break the count.
Aiello: Very nearly put her through the ring with that powerbomb and STILL she kicks out!
Bennett: She tried to make him a permanent part of the ring with her Reckoning and he kicked out so they're about even Stevens right now!
Both slowly get to their feet. Caleb hits Skye with a superkick that knocks her over the top rope. She clings on to the rope to stop herself falling to ringside and pulls herself onto the ring apron. Caleb reaches to pull her back into the ring but Skye grabs him and drops him throat first onto the top rope. Caleb springs back landing on the mat. Skye climbs to the top turnbuckle but before she can leap, Caleb grabs her onto his shoulders and drives her to the mat with a Grave Plot. He grabs a leg as the referee counts.
ONE...
TWO...
THREE!
DING DING DING
Stroup: And your winner, via pinfall CALEB SCOTT!
Caleb gets onto the middle turnbuckle and raises his arms in victory.
Aiello: A big win for Caleb Scott here on Brawl. Any time it looked like he was out of this match, he turned it around and found another and another until he won.
Bennett: Chelsea Skye pushed him though. Caleb Scott may have kicked out and found various ways but Chelsea was the one that forced him to find them.
Aiello: Great, great bout here as we gear up for a big X-Division contest between Gabrielle Visconty and Dio! Don't go away, folks!
Before we get to that, though, we go backstage to see what's going on...
The cameras cut to the locker room area where Dio is seen lacing his boots. As he ties the final knot, another pair of boots step into frame next to him. Dio looks up slowly as the camera pans up, revealing Darius as he stands over Dio with a smile. Dio gets up to his feet and stands toe to toe with the self-proclaimed “E of EWC”, not giving an inch as Darius starts to chuckle.
Darius: Relax, kid. I’m not here to start a fight or get into your head. I’m here to congratulate you on your win against Sour Candy at Hardcore Revolution and I’m here to give you a bit of advice for your match tonight against Gabi; use the lack of disqualifications to your advantage. I’ve seen what you can do now and let me tell you, kid … You’re built for the X-Division. You’ve got to let out whatever you’re trying to hold back if you want to keep on your path to becoming the X-Division champion, whatever that is … It’s unreal and it’s exactly what this division needs to continue forward in my absence. If you use that against someone like Gabi … Well, your victory is truly set in stone!
Dio looks away as smirks a bit before turning back to Darius with a stoic expression on his face before retorting.
Dio: There’s nothing being held back. Not anymore. Tonight is the warning shot they’d better be listening for at World Wide… because it doesn't matter who walks out of the Tokyo Dome with the championship at the end of the night. It's going to be on my waist sooner rather than later.
His face contorts into a snarl and Darius chuckles, patting his shoulder before he walks off and Dio is left to finish preparing for his no disqualification match coming up later on.
Suddenly, the feed cuts to a video playing on the X-Tron!
As soon as the video ends, we move to a commercial break.
We cut backstage, where Connors looks very, very excited to make an announcement!
Connors: Hello, BRAWLers! As mentioned earlier, I want to talk to everyone about Parabellum and Team BRAWL. Joining the ranks of King Flip and Gabrielle Visconty is the FX Broadcast Champion, Melinda Rhodes!
This gets a bit of a pop from the crowd, but Connors is not finished.
Connors: In addition, the red brand is pleased to announce the next participant in our squad...
Jim is distracted by the sound of his office door opening.
Connors: ...who is stepping into the office now! Love to see it. Ladies and gentlemen, Sour Candy will be joining BRAWL in the battle for supremacy in Brand Warfare, and...
Jim turns around, motioning to the person he thinks is joining Team BRAWL...wearing a PARAMOUNT t-shirt instead. Sour Candy just smirks at the Brawl GM, as a second person steps in next to her...Chris Brock, the General Manager of PARAMOUNT. The sight of this betrayal is enough to send Jim off the rails.
Connors: NO! God...no...god, please, no...no...NO...NOOOOOO--
The feed cuts before we go back to ringside for our next match!
A CLASH OF PERSONALITIES AND PHILOSOPHIES!
SINGLES MATCH, NO DISQUALIFICATIONS
Gabrielle Visconty
VS Dio
SINGLES MATCH, NO DISQUALIFICATIONS
Gabrielle Visconty
VS Dio
The camera opens on Steve Bennett and Joe Aiello at the commentary table.
Bennett: It’s been a helluva show so far here in Baku!
Aiello: And we have more to come, with Dio and Gabrielle Visconty going head to head tonight, these two are true stalwarts here in EWC with a glittering collection of achievements and titles between them.
Bennett: This crowd are in for a treat when those two face off against each other! It’s going to be…
The lights around the arena flicker and the X-Tron cuts off. A video suddenly plays.
The camera cuts back to Joe Aiello and Steve Bennett as the fans in the arena murmur in confusion.
Bennett: Eh, what the hell, Joe? What was that?
Aiello: Honestly, Steve, I have no idea…
The two analysts share a look and a nervous laugh before Joe moves on.
Aiello: Up next we have Gabrielle Visconty taking on Dio in a no-DQ match. This is a unique crossroads for these two wrestlers. Gabi is in the hunt for the International title and Dio has his eyes set on the X-Division championship.
Bennett: A no-DQ match is right up Dio’s alley. He’s been chomping at the bit to get his hands on the X-Division title, and beating Gabi would be a great stepping stone to propel him closer to that goal.
Aiello: Indeed it would be. Also, Gabi is chasing Flip, so a win would definitely give her a little momentum in the form of her 3rd straight win since coming back after her lengthy layoff for the fractured wrist.
Stroup: The following match is a NO-DQ match. Joining us first, from Honolulu, Hawaii, weighing in at 120 pounds ... GABRIELLE VISCOOONTY!!!
The lights in the arena dim and slowly pulse to the opening chords of "I Am The Fire" by Halestorm. Gabi Vee walks out to the entrance ramp and smiles out at the crowd as she stops at the top of the ramp. She grins as she looks over the crowd before heading down the ramp and towards the ring. Gabi interacts with the fans before she hops up on the side of the ring, smirking out to the crowd before she springboards herself gracefully into the ring. She paces the ring and works the crowd a bit before she heads to her corner.
Stroup: And her opponent, from Seattle, Washington, weighing in at 205 pounds ... DIOOOO!!!
The lights dim down, and a voice comes over the PA system.
”I am your Crux.”
The phrase kicks off the sounds of “Change (in the house of flies)” by the Deftones as Dio emerges from the curtain and stands atop the stage. He surveys the crowd, tugging at the collar of his leather jacket before heading down toward the ring.
DING DING DING
Dio walks towards Gabi with a smug grin on his face only to get a boot in it as Gabi hits a standing drop kick. Dio staggers back from the blow as Gabi rolls in on the ground and comes up to dive into Dio’s knees with a chop block. Dio crumbles to the mat holding his left knee. Gabi gets to her feet and starts kicking him in the left knee. Dio takes a couple shots and then takes to the offensive when he foot sweeps her. Gabi crashes to the mat and Dio rolls up quickly on top of her, locking her arm up as he drops back to the mat, applying torque to the arm bar. Gabi grabs the ropes and the Ref reminds her of the no-DQ. Dio keeps the pressure on the arm bar as Gabi howls in pain. Dio looks to be dead set on trying to break her arm, only for Gabi to finally bite down on the back of his leg. Dio yelps in pain as he releases the hold and rolls away from her. Gabi pops back up to her feet and shakes her arm out. Dio gets back to his feet and gingerly tests his left knee.
Aiello: Dio's really looking in a rough state here, Steve!
Bennett: With everything going on between Parabellum and her upcoming title match, I'm not surprised at how violent Gabi could be tonight!
Gabi dashes back in, sliding at the last second and aiming a kick for Dio’s left knee. Dio hop just in time, avoiding the knee shot and lands on Gabi with right knee. He grabs her by the hair and starts firing off right hands to her face. Gabi covers up, yet a few of the blows find there way through her defenses. Dio grabs her arm and applies a wrist lock, yanking her back up to her feet. He snaps her arm down and then spins around for a picture perfect discus elbow smash that connects square on Gabi’s nose. She crumbles to the mat and holds her face as blood trickles out of her nose. Dio reaches down and yanks her to her feet by her hair and hoists her into a torture rack! Gabi screams as Dio bounces her to increase the damage as much as possible. Gabi, in pure desperation, eye-rakes him and is dropped to the mat as Dio grabs his eyes. Gabi gets to her feet as the blood can be seen draining from her nose, and dashes in for a slingblade. Gabi gets back to her feet quickly and hits a standing shooting star press. She hooks the legs as the Ref slides in for the count.
1…
2 - immediate kick out by Dio! Gabi wipes the blood from her nose and smears it on Dio’s face as she hops back to her feet. Gabi dashes to the ropes and springbords off with a crossbody block - only for DIo to catch her in mid air! He holds Gabi for a moment as she kicks and flails, and then delivers a nasty STO. Dio with the cover!
1…
2…
Kick out by Gabi!
Aiello: Gabi with that heart and determination!
Bennett: Will it be enough to topple Dio, though?
Dio grabs Gabi by the hair and yanks her to her feet, driving a knee into her face that knocks the wind from her sails. He slides out of the ring and reaches under the apron to retrieve a bottle of pills that he shakes vigorously. He laughs as Gabi looks up at him and rushes towards him. Gai hits the ropes and slingshots up and hangs on, landing on the apron. Dio fully expected something more and is caught off guard by it not coming. Gabi kicks him in the side of the head from the apron and then springboards off with Wrath - a spinning heel kick! Dio crashes into the barricade as Gabi pops back to her feet. She chases in and grabs Dio by the hair and slams his face into the barricade. Dio drops the pills and covers his face. Gabi nails a sharp European uppercut that stands Dio up. She then kicks him inside of the left knee, sending Dio down to one knee. Gabi goes to knee Dio in the face but he blocks it. She winds up for another knee and Dio slips to the side and Gabi knees the barricade! Dio stands back up, now bleeding from his mouth, and kicks her in the gut, pulling her into Tranquility - a double underhook DDT on the arena floor! Dio immediately yanks Gabi back up and slams her face first into the barricade. Gabi staggers and collapses on the arena floor as Dio stalks her, dark smile on his face. He grabs her by the hair and pulls her up again, only to catch an elbow to the junk. Dio’s eyes bulge as he drops to his knees, clutching his family jewels. Gabi rolls back into the ring and sizes up Dio. In a flash she runs up the corner and springboards out of the ring with a spaceman plancha!
Aiello: Oh my, what a move!
Bennett: That's a high risk, high reward situation there...but wait!
Dio manages to just barely move out of the way and Gabi hits nothing but the arena floor! Gabi rolls around in pain as Dio is still recovering from the nut shot. Dio finally struggles to his feet, grabbing Gabi and shoving her back into the ring. He slides back into the ring and locks Gabi into Enlightenment - a Code of Silence! Gabi struggles but can’t seem to escape the hold. The Ref checks on her but she shakes it off. Finally the hold is too much for her and she taps before she blacks out.
DING DING DING
Stroup: And your winner, via submission, DIOOOO!!!
Dio hangs onto the hold until Gabi finally blacks out out. The Ref calls Dio to release the hold and he finally does a few moments later. He stands up and thrusts both his arms in the air.
Aiello: Amazing show of technical skill tonight from Dio. Gabi put up one hell of a fight but just couldn’t escape the constant onslaught of submission attempts.
Bennett: If this hasn’t merited Dio at shot at the X-Division title, I am not sure what else he needs to do.
Aiello: What a wild match this was, folks! When we come back, we will see the FX Broadcast Championship on the line in our main event as Melinda Rhodes defends against Iggy Swango! Don't go away, folks!
We move to a commercial break, the final one of the night!
The image jumps to backstage where we see Sour Candy walking back toward her locker room, a pleased smile on her face. Just as she reaches her locker room door a KitKat skips off the back of her head. As she turns around she is immediately met with a chair shot to the forehead. The sound of the shot echoes down the hall as the camera fades back to find an extremely pissed off looking Gabi Vee standing over SC with a slightly bent chair clutched tightly in her hands. SC curls up in a ball as she holds her head.
Aiello: Oh, my God! It’s Gabrielle Visconty!
Bennett: How could she cheap shot Sour Candy like that, they were Tag Team partners?! I love it!!
Visconty: You had to push it, didn’t you? I don’t know what crawled up your ass and died but I am damn sure going to beat it out of you!!
Gabi exclaims before slamming the chair down on SC’s back as she starts to crawl away. The anger on Gabi’s face is intense as she clobbers her again.
Visconty: You crossed the line when you went after Saidie. I warned you to leave her out of whatever bullshit you had with Jordan! Now you are skipping out on Brawl to avoid me?!
Aiello: She might have had this coming after attacking Saidie Sharpe on the last Paramount show, but from Gabi?
Gabi stands over Sour Candy and reaches down to grab the Paramount t-shirt and yanks at it until it rips free from her. She tosses it aside and slams the chair down on Sour Candy’s head again and again, until the blood starts to flow. She cocks back for another shot and stops, the realization of what she is doing finally catching up to her. Gabi drops the chair and steps back away. She shakes her head at SC, the inner conflict showing on her expression. She closes her eyes and then grits her teeth before looking back down at the small pool of blood starting to form around Sour Candy’s head.
Visconty: That was for Saidie, you bitch!
Bennett: I am not sure how to take this.
Aiello: Me either, Steve. This is sickening!
Bennett: No, I am not sure if I like Sour Candy or really pissed off Gabi Vee more.
Aiello: Wow! How could you even say that?! This was terrible! Gabi attacking Sour Candy, putting a definite end to 3C and any chance of seeing the Heavenly Treats together in the ring again. Not to mention Gabi and the Rayder’s had a really tight friendship prior to them turning on the Sharpes.
Bennett: Pfft, whatever. I say let them fight!
Aiello: You would…
Visconty: You want to slink off to Paramount to be with Robbie, fine. Keep your head on a swivel leading up to Parabellum. You wanted a war? Well, now you’ve got one!
Gabi hisses before she turns and walks away to leave Sour Candy lying in the hallway.
Aiello: Looks like Parabellum is heating up already!
We see Chris Brock and officials rush in, checking on Sour Candy as we cut back to ringside for our main event!
A BATTLE OF THE BANDS WITH GOLD ON THE LINE!
SINGLES MATCH - FOR THE FX BROADCAST CHAMPIONSHIP
Iggy Swango
VS Rebel Rhodes
SINGLES MATCH - FOR THE FX BROADCAST CHAMPIONSHIP
Iggy Swango
VS Rebel Rhodes
The lights dim and "The Steeple" by Halestorm plays over the P/A speakers. With a pyro explosion, the Rebel bounds from the curtains and onto that stage with a wicked grin. She sports her ring gear, a red leather vest with her winged star logo, aviator shades, and fingerless gloves. On her shoulder rests the FX Broadcast Championship. Mel strides down the aisle, taking her time and rocking with the fans in attendance. She's high-fiving fans, giving hugs to kids, and one lucky fan's child ends up with a parting gift, her chrome aviator shades getting placed right on the kid's face.
Stroup: HAILING FROM ROME, GA, SHE STANDS AT 5' 11" AND WEIGHS IN AT 145 LBS.... SHE IS YOUR FX CHAMPION "THE REBEL STAR" MMMMMMEEEELLLLLLIIINNNDDDAAAA RRRRRHHHHOOOODDDDDEEESSS!!!
After making the rounds at ringside, pumping up the front row fans, Rhodes slides under the ropes, pops up and runs up to the far turnbuckle, hoisting her championship in the air while headbanging to her music. She then turns and runs to the opposite side, arms out at her sides as she shouts "COME ON!!!!" to the fans, working them up just a little bit more. She then hops down and asks for a microphone. Someone at Ringside tosses her one and she catches it, flipping it on and bringing it to her lips. Her music cuts on cue. The fans are cheering, she has to stop, the smile on her face impossible to wipe clean. She nods her head forward and holds the microphone out to them, letting them have their moment.
Crowd: REBEL STAR! EWC!!! REBEL STAR!!! EWC!!!! REBEL STAR!!! EWC!!!
It’s when they finally calm it down a bit that she finally speaks.
Rebel: BAKU AZERBAIJJJJAAAANNNN!!!
This gets a big pop from the crowd, before Rebel continues.
Rebel: Damn son, I think they heard ya’ll all the way up in orbit!!! I teased it long enough and I promised an answer to a question that was asked backstage, on the street a couple times, and even one interview ago. Is Melinda Rhodes going for the big gold? Am I gonna’ go for the International Championship and take on King Flip?
She paces the ring for a moment, slipping the belt from her shoulder to look upon it with a small smile. Her eyes then turn back to the crowd.
Rebel: I’ve loved being the FX Champion ever since I got it, no lie. It’s a workhorse belt and I’ve really had a wonderful time representing as the Broadcast Champion of Brawl. I’ve enjoyed stepping up and improving week after week against some of the best talent in the industry but…
The Rebel paces around the ring at a slow and steady pace as she continues to address the crowd.
Rebel: …how do I know if I can if I don’t try? What kind of a competitor would I be if I stayed in the same lane and never moved forward? So the answer to that question, to the Will she, won’t she is…
K I N G F L I P zooms from right to left across the X-Tron and is followed swiftly by a small pyro. 'Machinegun' begins to play as the man in the hooded vest, head low, emerges from the curtain. He gets to the edge of the rampway when he lifts his hood to reveal that arrogant half smile, patting the gold around his waist. The Rebel Star sits on the second rope, pushing the top one up to invite the International Champion in!
Stroup: Making his way to the ring, hailing from the land of money and fame, weighing in at 220 pounds… THE INTERNATIONAL CHAMPION… KIIIIIIINNNNNGGGG FFFFFFLLLLLIIIIIPPPP!!!
The lyrics chime in as he walks slowly down the ramp, climbs onto the apron and accepts the Rebel’s gracious invitation, stepping into the ring and producing a microphone of his own. His music dies as Rhodes rises to face him, champion to champion now.
King Flip: How were you about to say my name?
Mel shoots him a little grin. The fans are clearly excited, cheering on both champions!
Crowd: C-H-K! REBEL STAR! C-H-K! REBEL STAR! C-H-K! REBEL STAR!!!
Rebel: Sup Flipster. I guess you wanna’ look me in the eye proper as I say it? Alright then, HELL YEAH I’M COMING FOR THE INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!!
The crowd ERUPTS with a cacophony of noise that is unintelligible and that small grin gets big in a hurry.
King Flip: You… and everybody else, Miss Rhodes. Y’see, I’ve already been given my first defense on the next episode against Gabrielle Visconty. On one hand, I didn’t like that much since you are - in fact - the true number one contender to this beautiful white-leathered championship. On the other hand, however, she did have to step down as International champion because the doctors believed her to be injured beyond the ability to hold it properly. But this isn’t about Miss Visconty, is it, Melinda? No, no it isn’t. This is about your own personal desires to get back to a place you’d been before. A desire I can certainly resonate with personally. It took me over a year to get this here championship placed comfortably back on my shoulder and, now that it has, it feels like people are jumping out of every corner to try to take it away from me. And y’know what? That’s fine with me.
Crowd: C-H-K! C-H-K! C-H-K!
The King eeks out that half-smirk as the crowd gets behind him. He paces the ring, eyes never leaving the FX Broadcast champion as he does.
King Flip: You say you’ve faced the best talent in the industry week after week… but now? Now you’ll really be doing it. Personally, I don’t have a say as to when this title gets put on the line; however, what I will promise you is that if I get through Miss Visconty… you are absolutely next in line.
Mel nods her head a bit, shouldering her belt. Her expression grows a bit somber and serious.
Rebel: Straight up, Flip, it ain’t about going back to where I was, but going forward from where I’ve been. I fell from the great heights of EWC to working the gutters of professional wrestling for years. Bit by bit, I kicked, clawed, and scraped my way out of the hole I was in to get to this point. It’s not about the past, but my present and my future. The glory days are gone, now it’s about making new ones. That belt on your shoulder? It’s had my name on it before, but I didn’t live up to my potential.
She then reaches out and taps Flip’s championship.
Rebel: I’m older, wiser, and stronger than I ever was before because of those experiences. Any shot I get, I’m taking and as for Gabi V? Well that’s her right as former champ. You two will have a glorious match befitting the gold on your shoulder, but whoever’s still standing at the end of the night? Well…
The Rebel Star steps up to the Flipping King himself and shoots him a dangerous grin with a little twinkle in her eye as the lights hit them just right.
Rebel: …I’m next.
Flip gives a nod and a thumbs up before ducking out as the lights shift, indicating that Iggy’s about to enter now…
Aiello: Rhodes making her intentions known here tonight, she's got her eye on the International Championship!
Bennett: That title's about to be really busy with the defenses, ain't it Joe?
The guitar strums of "Moonage Daydream" echo through the arena as the lights dim low. Strobe lights begin to flash on stage. Soon, Iggy Swango walks from behind the curtain as smog engulfs her. She pauses, adjusts her sun glasses, before making her way down the ramp
Its a slow deliberate walk, as she is clearly vibing to the music. After entering the ring, She looks up to the ceiling, and throws her hands up in a classic rock and roll pose.
Stroup: Standing in at five feet eight inches tall, weighing at one hundred and forty-five pounds, from San Francisco, California, representing DSR VOL II and America's Most Hated, Iggy Swango!!!
Iggy starts bouncing on the stage and rocking out with an air bass playing along with the music before making her way down the ramp. Iggy rolls under the bottom rope and pops up on her knees in the middle of the ring. She slowly stands her to her feet before raising her hands into the air once more.
Aiello: Iggy looks poised and ready to take on the Rebel Star in this title bout!
Bennett: We're about to see who's got it in them to come out of here with the belt, Joe!
Iggy and Mel have a little chat before the match begins, even shaking hands. The ref reads them both the riot act before motioning to kick the proceedings off!
DING DING DING
The moment the bell rings, before Mel even has her hands up, Iggy rushes in with a cheap shot that staggers the Rebel. She then blitzes her with an onslaught of punches, kicks, elbows, and forearms, driving the Rebel back until suddenly dropping down with a dropkick to both knees, dropping Mel right on them and following up with SCORPIO RISING and a pinfall!
ONE!!!
TWO!!!
TTTHHHR-KICKOUT
Aiello: Close call here for the champ!
Bennett: Almost had the wind knocked out of her, Rebel needs to be a lot more careful about that!
Iggy shrugs her shoulders and grabs a handful of Mel’s spiky hair, only to get caught with a stiff body shot that doubles her over. Rhodes comes back on fire, battering Iggy with angry, powerful lefts and rights, exercising her boxing acument up and down that pretty face and toned torso. Iggy shoots back with a few of her own, but the Rebel Bobs and Weaves around each strike, checking her in the ribs with jabs until a blocked shot turns into a wristlock. Iggy swings the other hand, Mel catches it, puts a boot in her gut and falls back with a Tomoe Nage Throw, launching Iggy up and over but The Experience herself tucks and rolls with the landing, getting right back to her feet! Iggy keeps moving, hitting the ropes as Mel kips ot her feet. The Rebel Star turns and running Leg Lariat-NO POWERSLIDE EVASION! Mel turned running and narrowly manages to drop to her knees and bend backwards, sliding right past Iggy, then hopping right to her feet, catching Iggy in a 3/4th’s cravate and SHOT THROUGH THE HEART! Rhodes rolls over her, hooking the leg for the pin!
ONE!!!!
TWO!!!
TTTHHHRRE-KICKOUT!
Aiello: And this time it's Iggy showing some determination!
Bennett: There's a lot on the line here Joe, you gotta do whatever it takes!
Iggy rolls the shoulder, Mel rising off of her and backing into a corner where she motions for Swango to rise… Slowly, Iggy does just that, shaking the stars off from that massive diamond cutter. She turns around and Rebel bursts out of the corner at the last second, Iggy leaps over the Rebel as she leaps forward in full commitment. Rhodes goes flying headfirst into the opposing corner, cracking her head in the post and goes limp, rolling into an awkward sitting position. Iggy slaps her ass and then runs full steam ahead at Mel, spinning around with the RUNNING HIP ATTACK, slamming her rear right into The Champ’s head. The challenger takes her by the arm, pulls her up and right into THE NOISE POLLUTION! On impact, she rolls Mel over for the pin!
ONE!!!!
TWO!!!
TTTTTTHHHHHHHRRRRE-KICKOUT!!!
Aiello: Some really close nearfalls here so far!
Bennett: You know what they say Joe, neither of these ladies are being paid by the hour. You get in, you do what ya need to, and you get out!
Lady Stardust gathers up the Rebel Star and tosses her right out of the ring angrily. She puts her hands on her hips, looking around at the crowd as she stalks around the ring for a moment. Throwing her hands up, she shouts out, “COME ON EVERYONE! THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A PARTY!” Iggy then backs up into the far ropes and runs right for the outside, hitting a diving shoulder block on a rising Rebel, slamming her right into the guard rail. She dislodges herself from Rhodes, gathers the champ up by the back of her head and hurls her ribs first into the ring apron, then slings her right into the ring barricade. Gathering up her now further stunned foe, she gets a fast running walk and slings Rhodes head first into the ring steps, dislodging them with a loud metal thunk! Rhodes falls to a seat cradling her head.
Aiello: Oh boy, that doesn't look promising for the champ!
Bennett: She looks out of it, and Iggy migt be able to take advantage!
Iggy gathers Rhodes up and walks her over to the nearby commentary table, to slam her head right into the table top. She sweeps everything off the table top and rolls Mel onto it. She pulls the Champ into a standing headscissor, bends forward, pulls Mel into an upside down waistlock and BREAKS THE TABLE WITH THE JUMPING PILEDRIVER!!!
Aiello: Oh my!
Bennett: This could be it Joe! Beginning of a new era!
The Crowd goes absolutely NUTS over the big table spot. The Challenger gathers Rhodes on spaghetti legs and slings her back into the ring. She takes a moment to showboat and work the crowd at ringside, getting a few Swango chants going on one side, then slides back in after Mel. She goes for a quick pinfall and….
ONE!!!
TWOOO!!!!
TTTTHHHRRRRRE-KICKOUT-OMFG!
Rhodes rolls a shoulder just in the nick of time!
Aiello: Hot diggity dog that was close!
Bennett: Some eras last longer than others!
Taking a deep breath, Iggy pulls Mel up, back to her front while holding an arm over her shoulder. She then whips her out with a Ripcord Roundhouse but Mel bends back and falls flat. It seems as if she slipped in mid dodge attempt. The Referee, unfortunately got a bit too close and eats the full force of that roundhouse, spinning him right off his feet! “DAMMIT!” shouts Iggy in flabbergasted frustration!
Aiello: Uh oh, that doesn't look good!
Bennett: Can't win a damn thing if the ref's out of commission!
Iggy lifts up and pulls Mel in, motioning for THE DANCE PARTY PLUS!!! This gets an Oooooo from the crowd. She hooks the arm and just as she’s about to flip, a masked figure slips into the ring, cracking Iggy brutally with a sharp kick to the back of the head! The fans erupt into boos as the figure grabs Iggy and tosses her out of the ring.
Aiello: Now what the hell is this about!?
Bennett: I guess whoever came after Iggy at Hardcore Revolution is far from finished!
The mystery assailant goes full on assault, battering Iggy and slinging her around ringside, even hitting a wicked powerslam through the time keeper’s table, laying Iggy out. The figure flips the challenger off, then the fans as they boo the unknown figure. The boos turn to cheers, however, as a shout from the ring gets their attention.
Rebel: HEY ASSHOLE!!!
They turn just as The Rebel Star bursts across the ropes, flying through the middle to hit a Suicide Headscissor takedown, throwing the figure off their feet! Mel hops to her feet, the figure fighting to their feet, clutching the back of their neck. They try to get away and the Rebel Star gives chase! She gathers them by the back of their mask, spins around and hurls them right up the aisle, where they collapse. Just running on pure Adrenaline, she rushes in and RHODES KILL SPEAR rocks the masked figure off their feet, knocking the wind completely out of them.
Rebel: DO YOUR SHIT ON YOUR OWN TIME, FUCKER! THIS IS MY MATCH!!!
Aiello: The champ is having NONE of this malarkey tonight!
Bennett: I don't blame her, this is too important to let something like this get in the way!
She’s about to do more, but looks back to the ring, seeing Iggy pulling herself back in and laying flat on her back. The Referee is also stirring now. Rhodes leaves him and runs down the aisle to get back into the ring. Mel promptly checks on Iggy, making sure she’s alright only to be pulled into a fast and dirty Possum Pin!!! The Ref moves in quickly to count!
ONE!!!
TWO!!!!
TTTHHHHRRRE-KICKOUT AGAIN!!!
The two roll apart and Mel rises, rolling her shoulders and nodding, simply saying, “Ok, so be it.” Iggy, a bit groggy and fueled by pissed off energy, bolts right at The Champ, who leaps onto her shoulders, spins around while wrapping her legs around her head and hitting THE SKULL TATTOO Reverse Hurricanrana, spiking her skull first on the canvas! Mel lands on her knees, back rolling over the prone Iggy’s facedown body, takes her legs and locks on THE REBEL DEATHLOCK, laying back as far as she can to fold the challenger in half! Middle of the ring, Iggy’s got no choice. She taps out!!!
DING DING DING
Stroup: Ladies and gentlemen, your winner via submission...AND STILL FX BROADCAST CHAMPION... THE REBEL STAR... MELINDA RHODES!!!!!Aiello: What a main event this turned out to be, folks. Even with a masked assailant trying to go after the challenger, Rebel herself proved to be worthy of that title and retain it here tonight!
Bennett: You gotta wonder what this means for the road to Parabellum now though, especially if she's eyeing the prize of the International Championship!
Aiello: Only time will tell, Steve! For now, that's about it for us here in Baku. Thank you folks for tuning in for Monday Night BRAWL! For Steve Bennett, I'm Joe Aiello saying so long and goodnight!
“Steeple” by Halestorm hits the PA. Rhodes releases the hold and rises to her feet, not looking too pleased with herself in this instance. She looks down the aisle to see the masked attacker gone. She’s handed her Championship, but merely stands there, glaring angrily at the entrance arch as it all comes to a close.
