The fans scream for delight as the ExtremeTron explodes to life. Pyro ignites on the stage.
The camera pans around the arena as fans scream for delight and begin their chants and raise their signs high into the air.

KD: Hello ladies, gentlemen and everyone else watching our first Friday Night Rampage of the new year. I am Koala Duggan, joined by my brother Polar Duggan, and we are here for another great episode of Rampage.
P-DUG: Two title matches, two tourney matches and one hell of an undercard. Should be a solid enough show.
KD: In our show opener, Ace King takes on Ruthann Anderson in a match that has fifteen years of build. Should be an insane match!
P-DUG: In our second match, King Flip takes on Mercenary in what has quickly become a personal affair. They might kill each other tonight.
KD: In our third match, Chris Page makes his Friday Night Rampage debut against former United States Champion Darna Dare. Both could use this momentum heading into Strangle Mania.
P-DUG: In our fourth match, Cruz Macaque makes her main roster debut against EWC Best Girl Megumi. Lotta eyes will be on that match, and some maybe even because of the wrestling.
KD: In our fifth match, Moxie puts his HBO Broadcast Championship on the line against Phoenix Winterborn in a 2/3 falls match. Winterborn of course got this match after going to the limit with Grizzly Duggan at WrestleFest six weeks ago.
P-DUG: And then in our semi final, our second tourney match of the show with Jamie Love taking on current Undisputed Champion Melody Malone.
KD: If Jamie wins this match, one has to imagine he would be the first challenger for Melody Malone's newly reclaimed Undisputed Championship.
P-DUG: I think that's a safe bet, and I think Jamie will be bringing his best for that scenario but I don't know if Jamie at his best can handle Melody Malone at her best. And you have to bet she's not going to take any chances with a half ass performance.
KD: And in our main event, Ace King defends his newly reclaimed United States Championship against Lavender inside a steel cage match.
P-DUG: This is Lavender's rematch clause, and there has been a lot of talk on if she's cashing in too early. If the loss to Ace King is too fresh to challenge.
KD: As Lavender pointed out, she wasn't pinned by Ace King when she lost her championship. This match is nothing but the two of them, and no fancy gimmicks. This will just be a fight. Lavender has already agreed she will not win by escape, I expect Ace will follow suit. The better person will win here tonight.
P-DUG: Ace does of course come into this match after already having a match in the opening bout, so there is some fancy gimmicks to this Koala.
KD: Ace King knows the risks as a champion, and I think he'll be the first to tell you he'd love it if he had three matches before facing Lavender to make him that more tired to make him dig that much more deep to get the victory.
P-DUG: But the point remains, Lavender in this situation will have her detractors regardless of outcome. If King wins, she lost after he was already in a match. If she wins, she beat a King who already had a match.
KD: Is there a point to this?
P-DUG: I think we'll see these two clash again sometime this year, very soon. That's my point. This match is a pitstop in their rivalry, and whoever wins will have hell to pay when the losing side swings back into the picture.
KD: Now that is a prediction I agree with. Don't go anywhere folks, our opening match is coming at you real soon!

“This has been 15 years in the making… Honestly? I wasn’t sure it ever would. But here we are, Ruthless Aggression, at the very crossroads we once thought to be impossible.”
The ominous words from EWC United States Champion Ace King immediately transition into the AC/DC anthem ‘If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It)’, filled with contrasting clips of the two legends throughout their careers.
It's criminal, there ought to be a law
Criminal, there ought to be a whole lot more
You get nothin' for nothin', tell me who can you trust
We got what you want, and you got the lust
The bond goes back to early 2008, back when both were competing in CZW; by April of that year, Ace was the promotion’s World Heavyweight Champion, Ruthless Aggression the Queen of Combat, and very much inseparable. Both were founding members of the popular stable known as Team XTC, alongside then X-Division Champion, El Pablo. Fast-forward eight years.
NOVEMBER 11, 2016 - FRIDAY NIGHT RAMPAGE #406 - CALGARY, ALBERTA, CANADA
Ruthann: You, me, El Pablo and a few others that rode with us while we were XTC. We were some of the best back in CZW. We were also great friends. Especially you and I... we were more than friends... we actually form another type of relationship between each other.
Ace King looked over at her with a soft nod.
Ruthann: But like everything in this world things have to come to an end.
Ruthann just smirks as Ace King's face just changes with a confused look as Ruthann rips the XTC shirt to pieces as some of the old CZW fans and start to boo her while others were cheering her on. She then tosses the shirt pieces into the face of Ace King. Ruthann just smirks as she looks at him as she holds up the other shirt.
Ruthann: CZW was my past! Just like you are my past! EWC is my future! EWC is my presence and is the company whose blood that is running through my veins for now and for the rest of my life. When CZW turned it back on me. EWC opened their doors towards me! EWC made me into the wrestler I am today. EWC is the damn best and you should look at it as an honor that I even felt you were worthy enough to be in the same company as me!
Ace couldn't believe what he was seeing in front of him. The Ruthann from the past isn't anymore but there was a new woman standing in front of him. Ruthann just grins as the crowd is split between them both as Ace looks right over at Ruthann with this look of disappointment.
If you want blood, you got it, if you want blood, you got it
Blood on the streets, blood on the rocks, blood in the gutter, every last drop
You want blood, you got it
Ruthann: But there was another reason also why I have asked you here Ace King.
Ace King looked over at her closely as she just grins as she got into his face.
Ruthann: Ruthless Aggression vs Ace King!
That challenge from 2016 is interspersed with more moments from their respective pasts, beginning with Ruthless Aggression becoming the inaugural EWC Champion of the current era.
MARCH 29, 2015 - STRANGLEMANIA X - NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA
EWC Championship - Ruthless Aggression vs. Damien Kingston - Rage in the Cage
Ruthless Aggression and Damien Kingston fight back and forth the top of the ladder. Each one hitting harder however Ruth hits a Headbutt on her opponent. Damien leans back and Ruthless lifts her leg up and delivers a stiff kick to her opponent’s face and finally pushes him off the of the ladder and onto the canvas. He bounces hard on the canvas and rolls out of the ring while Ruth manages to grab the key from the top of the age and takes it off the hook.
The crowd cheers loudly and she jumps off the ladder onto the mat and rolls out. The Man of Liberty is barely moving and Ruth moves over her opponent and uses the key to get the first lock off the cage. She then moves to the second lock and it too comes off and opens the door, collapsing on the outside. The referee calls for the bell as the crowd explodes with “SHE’S HARDCORE!” as balloons and confetti falls from above as “Centuries” by Fall Out Boy plays and she is given the EWC Championship.
Jessica Stroup: Ladies and gentlemen, here is your winner and NEW EWC Champion! RUTHLESS AGGRESSION!
Jeremy Piven: History has been made! This is a first for the EWC Championship and I know there have to be people who do not believe this!
Joe Aiello: Ruthless Aggression has become one of the few people to ever win the EWC Championship society and has become the first WOMAN to win the championship! That has been a great and historic night! Ladies and gentlemen, here is your NEW EWC CHAMPION, RUTHLESS AGGRESSION!
It's animal, livin' in the human zoo
Animal, the shit that they toss to you
Feelin' like a Christian, locked in a cage
Thrown to the lions on the second page
Paparazzi photos are shown of the discussion between Ruthless and Ace around the time of Scars and Stripes 2016 that led to Ace signing with EWC so many years ago. Three years later, at the same pay-per-view and still very much in the midst of his 777-day run as United States Champion, ‘The Gambler’ finally had his crowning moment…
JULY 15, 2019 - SCARS AND STRIPES - ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN
Undisputed EWC Championship - Dominic Sanders [C] vs. Ace King - Ladder Match
Ace slowly got up and saw a downed Sanders. He wanted to go at him one last time as he reached under the apron and pulled out a barbed wire chair. He slammed it multiple times to the back and legs of Sanders before rolling him over and putting the chair under his back. Ace backed up a bit and hit the Jackpot! (Rolling Thunder to Shining Wizard) Ace fell after the Shining Wizard to catch his breath a bit before sliding into the ring. He slowly proceeded to the big ladder and made his way up to it, slowly but surely. He slipped on a few rungs which helped Dominic to recover and make it to the top as he did. Ace didn't want any fight though so he hit him with a hard headbutt and threw Dominic off as he reached up and unhooked the Championship!
DING DING DING
Stroup: Your winner and NEW EWC UNDISPUTED CHAMPION AAACCCEEE KIIIINNNGGGG!
Ace, still on the top of the ladder, looks down at the title still in awe of the fact he had finally won the Undisputed Championship. He slowly climbs down the ladder, still hurt but far out of his mind as he raises the title up in the middle of the ring. He walks over to one of the turnbuckles and holds it up high, still not believing what he is seeing. Ace King, finally Undisputed Champion.
If you want blood, you got it, if you want blood, you got it
Blood on the streets, blood on the rocks, blood in the gutter, every last drop
You want blood, you got it
While a Legends of the Cage victory and a second Undisputed Championship reign for Ace came in 2021, Ruthless Aggression plied her trade and earned multiple Television Championship reigns, beating some of the best competition to set foot in an EWC ring.
Fast-forward to WrestleFest XX, and what appeared to be Ruthless Aggression’s swan song following a Fatal Four Way…
DECEMBER 16, 2022 - WRESTLEFEST XX - JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA
The din ebbs but doesn't settle, resurging as the Mercenary posts up one arm and clambers to his feet, looking across at Ruthann Hunter. One more time, the fans ERUPT as he helps Ruthann to her feet and murmurs a few words, lifting a forearm. She blinks the fatigue from her eyes, slowly smiles, and bumps her arm against his, their hands coming together in a firm warrior's grasp, before she's surprised by being almost yanked into the air as he turns and throws her arm aloft! The crowd respond immediately!
"THANK YOU, RUTH-ANN!" clap-clap-clapclapclap "THANK YOU, RUTH-ANN!"
The Hall of Famer doesn't have much left, but she keeps smiling, eyes moist as the crowd rain down their appreciation.
Woo: That's a man of dignity, a man of honor, and a veritable wrecking ball representing one of the very Best of Rampage. We can all join him in paying respect to a woman whose legend needs no introduction here at EWC, and who came up just short in a battle against not only the Mercenary, but two of the best and brightest talents heading up the future of our company.
Just over two hours later, Ace, having just won back the United States Championship two days earlier, took a moment out of his press conference to salute his longtime friend given what the world had just witnessed.
Ace King: “It’s not just anybody who gets the Hall of Fame recognition here, and I know there’s been times where, you know, maybe she’s doubted her credentials herself, but you know what? She’s always been someone who’s left absolutely everything out there, left nothing to chance, and you know what? Damnit, she’s one to always be respected here. … We've had more than 15 years of history at this point to kind of build up that connection, but again it’s, you know, it’s been an amazing career if this is in fact, you know, maybe one of the final steps she takes.”
Blood on the rocks, blood on the streets, blood in the sky, blood on the sheets
If you want blood, you got it
Then came the announcement: Legend of the Ring 2023. As names from around EWC stated their intent to pursue the tournament, more and more intrigue built up until the brackets were released, and one match stood out above the rest:
RUTHLESS AGGRESSION vs. ACE KING
Ruthless Aggression: “I have gotten picked to be a part of the Legend of the Ring tournament. The first round I will be facing..
My Best Friend....The one and only Ace King the Gambler himself...
I truly felt I was finished for good but you know deep down at times you found yourself hearing that little voice that tells you something different.”
Ace King: “We’ve both become EWC legends in our own right, though the paths we took to get here are decidedly different … I took my time away from this business over the years, but you? EWC was yours. You were the OG Queen before that twat Malone came along, and I will forever be indebted to you for helping me get in the door back in 2016, because it undoubtedly changed my fortunes for the better.”
I WANT YOU TO BLEED FOR ME
Ruthless Aggression: “It took 15 years for this match to happen.. All I have to say to that... it's about damn time!”
Ace King: “We may have taken different paths over the years, but there are no secrets between us, and just as I know what to expect from you, I need you to understand exactly where I’m coming from when I say I will show you no mercy on Friday night in Long Beach.”
Ruthless Aggression: “You don’t just have a Queen as your roadblock but a freaking Warrior who wlll do whatever it take to “MAKE THE BLOOD FLOW!”
Ace King: “You want this to be a bloodbath? Let me provide the faucet. The biggest difference between me and most of the people you face these days is that I know just what it will take to put you down, and even the smallest mistake will be the difference between advancing and falling behind. Ruthann, I’m not about to get left behind.”
As “If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It)” starts to trail off, we get another rapid mashup of the pair’s career trajectories, with the final shot being that faceoff from 2016, and the Queen of Hardcore’s words echoing loud and clear…

P-Dug: Possibly the biggest match of the year, and it's only our first show.
Chriqui: The following match, set for one fall, is a Legends Of The Ring tournament match. Introducing first residing in San Francisco, California and weighing in at 200 pounds... RUTHLESS AGGRESSION!!!
'Centuries by Fall Out Boys came on over the speakers as smoke filled the top of the X Tron as she step out of the smoke. She takes in the crowd with a bit of a smirk walking down the ramp along with Rose Lee playing to them a bit before climbing in. She walk over to the side take off her jacket and hand over to the person testing the ropes getting ready.
Chriqui: And the opponent...
"Ace of Spades" rips through The Walter Pyramid , and the crowd cheers as pyro goes off in time with the opening drum beats. Ace King then calmly steps out onto the stage, his eyes narrowed and focused on the ring.
Chriqui: Making his way to the ring, FROM Las Vegas, Nevada, weighing in at 229 pounds... He is the EWC United States Champion. He is: THE GAMBLER... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE KIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINGGGGGG!!!
Ace rolls his head around the back of his neck for a few seconds before focusing back in on the ring, then makes his way down the ramp, interacting with a few fans along the way. He stops a few steps short of the ring, then dives in under the bottom rope as red pyro explodes from each turnbuckle. Ace pauses on his knees in the middle of the ring for a moment before getting to his feet, his attention locked in on his opponent.
DING DING DING
Ace runs at Ruth who takes him down to the mat with an arm drag. Ace gets back to his feet and again runs at Ruth. Ruth grabs his arm and twists him into a double arm DDT. Ace stumbles to his feet and staggers into the corner. Ruth runs at him and crashes into Ace with a Stinger splash. Ace stammers out of the corner as Ruth charges at him hitting a spear. She makes a cover.

THR… NO! KICK OUT!
Ace lifts a shoulder high into the air breaking the count. Ruth pulls Ace to his feet and whips him off the ropes. Ace rebounds hitting a slingblade. Ace gets to his feet and runs at Ruth. She back drops Ace into the ropes. Instead Ace manages to bounce off the middle rope and he springs back at Ruth with an Asai DDT. Ruth almost bounces to her feet where Ace cracks her with a European uppercutt. Ace boots Ruth in the gut that doubles her over. Ace lifts her for a powerbomb but Ruth slips out and grabs Ace for a DDT. Ace blocks and lifts Ruth over for a suplex before running at her and driving her to the mat with a DDT. Ace rolls Ruth over and makes a cover.
ONE…
TWO…
THR… NO! KICK OUT!
Ruth manages to push Ace off her to break the count.
KD: A big kick out there.
P-Dug: It needed to be. It sends a message to Ace King saying ‘you need to do a lot more it you want to win’.
Ace gets to his feet and stomps Ruth before pulling Ruth to her feet. He hoists her onto his shoulders and spins her hitting an Eye In The Sky. Ace grabs a leg as the referee counts.
ONE…
TWO…
THR… NO! KICK OUT!
Ruth manages to get a foot onto the bottom rope to break the count. Ace pulls Ruth to her feet but she punches him in the gut. She grabs at Ace and hits him with a Jawbreaker that knocks him backward to the mat. Ruth grabs his arm and spins him onto his front before forcing him to Eat The Mat. Not once, not twice but three times. She rolls Ace over and hooks the leg.
ONE…
TWO…
THR… NO! KICK OUT!
Ace rolls to his side to break the count.
P-Dug: The bell should be ringing right now!
KD: A millisecond later and it would be. That right there was as close as you can get WITHOUT hearing a bell ring.
Ruth lifts Ace to his feet and underhooks his arms. Ace manages to counter his way out with a back body drop. Ruth crashes to the mat and Ace falls onto the ropes. Ruth gets to her feet. Ace grabs Ruth from behind and lifts her onto his shoulders. He spins her into a Blackjack Bomb. Ace rolls over Ruth and hooks the leg as the referee counts.
ONE…
TWO…
THREE!
DING DING DING
Chriqui: And your winner, via pinfall ... ACE KING!!!!
Ace remains on his knees for a few moments before getting to his feet. The referee hands him his championship and Ace holds it high in the air before rolling out of the ring and heading back up the ramp.
KD: That is a massive win in this Legend Of The Ring tournament! I don’t know about Legend but he is the King of this ring based upon the match we just witnessed.
P-Dug: Ruthless Aggression came a hair away from victory here tonight. This match could have been a much different story had she hit the Drop Zone.
KD: Is it too soon to ask for a rematch?
Camera cuts to ...
Cameras cut backstage where Brian Spade stands next to a locker room door that reads 'King Flip' on a star on the door. He stands with a smile as he pulls the microphone to his lips.
Spade: What an episode of Rampage we have for you tonight, ladies and gentlemen, but first allow me to introduce one of the men in the upcoming singles match. Tonight he'll be facing Mercenary, but folks last Monday night you saw him beat JoJo Rush like he was defending his International championship. Folks, I give you... King Flip
A cacophony of jeering comes pouring throughout Walter Pyramid as the man from the red brand enters stage left. He just smiles though the boos even as they migrate into a 'RAAAMPAAAGE' chant. The King allows the crowd their moment, nodding as Brian leans the microphone in his general direction. Flip adjusts the International championship on his right shoulder and just continues to smile at the interviewer while the chant begins building steam.
Spade: Well, let me start by welcoming you to Rampage. You know how we do it on Friday nights!
The boos swiftly shift to cheers. Spade beams with pride. With a shrug, Flip leans in to respond.
King Flip: I've always had a certain understanding for the crowds here on Friday nights, Brian. It's a damn shame the guy to lace his boots and get into the ring with me this evening is their big hero, Mercenary.
Once again, a big pop for The Outlaw of Rampage at the mention of his name. Flip takes another step forward and grabs the microphone.
King Flip: I thought you'd feel that way. And that's fine, Brian, the peons don't have to cheer my name everywhere I go. I know that, at the end of the night, when my name's been called as the victor, we'll all come to a better understanding.
Spade: Bold words even from the International champion, but I do have some questions for you if you've got the time for more than your outlook on the match-up with Mercenary. I want to talk to you about your relationships with some of the women in this company.
King Flip: Uhhh...
Walter Pyramid is in a perpetual flux of positive and negative emotions as the King shuffles in his stance a bit.
Spade: I've got about five names that come to mind with King Flip and I just want you to give me your gut reaction as I work through them, alright? I call this bit... MADE with SPADE.
The interviewer swings around and the camera pans out as if there's going to be some sort of graphic for this. There is no graphic, just an awkward moment.
King Flip: Oh... kay...
International champion King Flip looks to be getting more nervous by the second.
Spade: In a recent promo against JoJo Rush, you discussed future prospects if you were to move forward in the Legends tournament. You have in fact, congratulations, but there was something you said in the promo that piqued a lot of people's interests. The talk of the internet, you could say, and people want to know... what did you mean by 'grab Malone by the roast beef'?
Any panic left in Flip fades as he crumples over in a burst of laughter. The fans don't seem as amused by the question. Brian looks a little confused himself now, but the King firmly adjusts himself as he returns to a vertical base.
King Flip: Brian Spade, I was insinuating that I was gonna take this gnarled fuckin' meathook I got left of a hand and grab that bitch by her baby maker. You don't think Melody Malone have a beefy fuckin' puss? I guaran-damn-tee, boy. I'll snag that shit like a butt cheek and jiggle it. Slap it a couple times like, hey, good game.
Brian looks disappointed but not surprised, the fans audibly sharing his reaction to all... that.
Spade: Wow, okay. Well... alright. So, I don't know what I was expecting there but it wasn't that. OKAY. ANYWAY... the next name I'd like to bring up is one that seems to be a little more elusive to Extreme Wrestling fans. Can you explain your seething hatred toward one prospective Broadcast champion hopeful in Tanja Devereaux. You mentioned her at WrestleFest last year after her victory securing her shot at Paramount's television championship. The people want to know... what's up with that?
The fans, meanwhile, have devolved into an "Outlaws gonna kill you" chant as they continue giving mixed reactions to this strange, impromptu backstage interview.
King Flip: Well, Tanja was a good girl here on Rampage once upon a time. You guys remember Ol' Tanja D, don'tcha!?
A previously mixed reaction gleans more positive toward the former Rampage performer.
King Flip: Upon her defection from the green brand to the orange brand, Paramount...
Boos galore.
King Flip: I couldn't agree with you more. Anyway, she made her little jump. Good for her. Shit has nothing to do with me, right? WRONG-O, BEE SPADEY. Y'see, I was wrestling against El Pablo in a drag down, kick out, barn burning, slobberknocker. UNBE-FUCKING-KNOWNST TO ME... who's looking to get involved but that little orange hopeful. That's right, in the middle of a Goddamn war between myself and X-Division champion El Pablo -- tile on the line, mind you -- she finds herself in the crowd. Not only does she find herself in the fucking crowd during this match, no. That's not enough. She ATTACKS me. While I'm DOWN. Brian Spade, if there's one thing you don't fuck with... it's a man on his journey for championship gold. She destroyed the sanctity of that moment and the KING. WILL NOT. ABIDE.
Fans, though not completely behind the Brawl superstar, bellow out "king will not abide" right along with him.
King Flip: There's just certain things you don't do in this business. Sticking your crooked, ugly, decrepit, bulbous fucking witch nose in MY fucking business? Well, well, well... that's one of those things. One of those things that's going to follow Tanja Devereaux around for a little while. At least through the Paramount premier coming up. Believe it or not, Brian Spade, but I'm going to be out there as well. Y'know... to cheer her on. Because I'm such a big fan.
Spade: I think I smell what you're stepping in, King. But let's divert away from all that for a moment. I do want to ask you about Draco Lazarus, but I-
Flip cuts the interviewer off.
King Flip: Why? Because he did this to me?
The International champion showcases the new scar tearing from the back of his hand down nearly to his elbow.
King Flip: My dance card's full, Brian. I can't fight everybody. But don't worry, hey? Just as I'll be at Paramount's premier... I've got something in store for Prime as well. Don't you worry. Why don't we talk about everyone's favorite big, bulky motherfucker? Let's talk about Mercenary.
Spade: That was what I wanted to discuss next, I-
Flip takes control of the microphone with his left and open palms over Brian's face with his right, pushing him by the head out of the frame of the shot. The camera zooms in to Flip as the fans boo once again.
King Flip: You say I have an unkillable ego, Mercenary? Well... if that's true, what the hell is it you plan to do when we go out there? Hm? This is your moment. Your one fucking shot at the International champion. JoJo took his shot and we both saw what happened to him. Don't miss, Mercenary. Don't you fucking miss. Because when I go out there I'm going to come at you. And come at you. And come at you. And I ain't talkin' Peter North style, folks, this ain't a fuckin' Tommy Love bit. Y'see, I've already promised to hurt you you son of a bitch. Remind you of what you said. Remind you that YOU fucked up running your damn mouth.
He seethes as the camera continues to zoom in.
King Flip: You wanna talk about respect? How you had to dig some up for me, hah, just before calling me a snake. ME. I'M the snake, Outlaw, you sure about that? The man who says he's got a legacy in need of some self-preservation, buddy... I think you need to look in the mirror. Remember who you are. Remember the man that Damage Incorporated beat into the ground. Remember the man who was betrayed by his little girlfriend. Hell, I hope MAMA Mercenary IS dead because I want you to imagine me digging that bitch up just to tell her how disappointed she should be in her Goddamn son. Mercenary, I'm not just going to beat you. You don't deserve that respect. Tonight, with God as my witness, in front of all these fans in the Walter Pyramid... I'm going to fucking embarrass you.
Flip spins the microphone through the air. It lands in Brian Spade's hands, who bumbles around sweating as the camera pans to him while fading away.

We return to ringside where Chriqui is ready to call the second bout. Cameras go around the ring to the Duggans beaming from behind their announce booth.
KD: Now for a match that has become deeply personal, when I saw this match announced I had no idea what was to come.
P-Dug: I was a bit caught off guard too, but wrestlers man... wrestlers...
Chriqui: The following match is a match. Introducing first from West Oakland, California & weighing in at 365 pounds... He is the Extreme Wrestling Outlaw... He is MERCENAARYY!!!
The camera cuts to the back hallway leading to the stage. Mercenary in his ring gear stalks towards the metal steps that lead up to the "Gorilla" position. A flush-faced Brian Spade rushes to catch him before he can ascend, shoving his microphone up under his chin, which earns him a heavy look of aggravation from his intended interview.
Brian Spade: Mercenary, Mercenary! I know you're headed out to the ring right now, but can I just get a brief moment of your time?
Mercenary audibly growls at Spade through gritted teeth. Beads of flop sweat start to stream down the interviewer's wide brow. But ever the professional he soldiers on by not waiting for the requested permission to ask his question.
Spade: In his promo segment for this match and again earlier tonight your opponent, The International Champion: King Flip, had some very harsh words for you. Do you have any response to his apparent strong dislike for you as an opponent and hatred for you as a person?
Mercenary nodded and smirked coldly as he gnawed on his response. He chuckled humorlessly before speaking.
Mercenary: Well B-rye, it does seem like the fabulous Mister Flip don't like me too much dun't it? And really, I had no freakin' clue. I mean it's been what, over a year-and-a-half since we fought each other last? I did see the guy at last year's StableWars but I guess he was too busy playing heist with Flip's Five in virtual reality to talk about it with me then.
He rubbed the back of his neck and looked off into the distance with a tense expression.
Mercenary: And if you wanna know the truth, I don't even know what I did to piss him off so damn much.
Spade (In a low and halting voice.): I... um... I believe he was offended by a remark... uh... a remark that you made about the passing of Georgia James.
Spade flinched and his eyes found the floor as Mercenary's head turned his way and he honed his best glare down on the top of the shorter man's head.
Mercenary: THAT'S the THING though Bry. I never mentioned Georgia James by name. I might've said something about the both of us knowing something about loss, but I sure-as-Hell didn't mean to make light of his situation. I've said more than my share of cruel and stupid things in my time, but I would NEVER belittle somebody's lost loved one. NEVER.
His lips twisted into a snarl as he rubbed roughly at his goatee, a look of anger darkening his expression.
Mercenary: BUT, that's the difference between Me and Flip isn't it Spade? I may have said something personally offensive by mistake, but he for damn sure said something personal on purpose. IN FACT, every time he opens that hairy ginger dick siphon he calls a mouth he exposes himself for the piece of shit he really is.
Mercenary's eyes burn with fury. Brian looks a little confused but chooses to stay safe by staying quiet. Taking a deep breath to steady himself Mercenary snatches the microphone out of Spade's sweaty hand and crowds him out of the frame as he speaks directly into the camera.
Mercenary: So the last time we went one on one you said that I left you seeing red. Well son, you done went and gave me my very own extra special kind of motivation. You and that little parasitic bitch of a sidekick like the Dead Momma jokes do ya? Talkin' about Mike's "junkie" mother just brings the damn funny don't it? Well Flip, I'm sorry what I said about Georgia James. I'm sorry if what I said disrespected her memory. I'm sorry to her family. I'm sorry to her friends. I'm sorry to everyone she ever knew... except YOU! I'm not sorry for a single damn thing I said to you. And I know that you're not sorry either. NOT YET. But you're gonna be. So you're comin' out there to choke me till my eyes pop out? BRING IT ON! So you say you wanna kill me? BETTER MEN HAVE TRIED! You wanna make this shit personal? IT'S PRETTY DAMN PERSONAL NOW!
FLIP, I don't even care if I beat you tonight, just as long as I HURT ya. I'm gonna hurt you so damn bad that you won't make it past Stitches in the Legends of the Ring tournament, let alone make it all the way to Melody Malone at Stranglemania. I'm gonna break your ass boy, because I'm not seeing red, I'm seeing DEAD. As in a dead man walking.
Throwing the microphone at Brian Spade he stomps up the stairs and rips through the curtain as his music starts to play on the P.A. to announce his march to the ring.
'Fire It Up' by Black Label Society blasts over the PA. A flashing red strobe lights the stage as the rest of the room goes dark. Mercenary swaggers out onto the stage with his face hidden behind a hard tactical mask painted to look like The Punisher's iconic skull logo. His eyes inside the mask scan the crowd. He crosses both arms, gloved fists clenched, across his chest and under his chin. The pose resembles a skull and crossbones. To either side of him the stage explodes in motes of red and orange flame.
P-Dug: Wait a minute! Merc, look out!
Even the audience doesn't know what's happening until it's already done. Just as Mercenary is taking off his mask, King Flip comes roaring from behind the curtain with the International championship in both hands. WHACK! Flip leaps into a thunderous hit with the championship across the back of his opponent's head. Mercenary goes stumbling down the aisleway as his theme fades and the boos begin rising throughout Walter Pyramid. The Outlaw stops on a knee and turns around as he returns to a vertical base. WHACK! King Flip was waiting for him and blasts him right in the kisser. This sends Merc swiftly landing on his back, the clanging of metal on metal echoing through the Pyramid while jeers continue to crescendo. Meanwhile, Chanel has made her way past all this mess and is threatening Chriqui inside the ring to announce her client or else.
Chriqui: And his opponent from The Land of Money and Fame & weighing in at 220 pounds... He is YOUR International champion... KIIING FLIP!!!
The King raises his championship belt to a plethora of disrespects from the audience. This showboating costs him, however, as Mercenary shoots into a sitting position with a hand powerfully and painfully clutching Flip by the throat. He's freaking out, the crowd is freaking out, Chanel is freaking out. Everybody but Mercenary who looks so pissed he could burst a blood vessel in his forehead. The King's manager slides out of the ring and rushes right into Mercenary's left hand around her throat. For almost thirty seconds the duo tries to fight out of this choke to no avail. Modified double thesz press. The Outlaw follows up with hard and furious rights and lefts to the two that interrupted his entrance to the ring.
KD: Mercenary is welcoming King Flip and Chanel to the green brand! How's it feel to be on Rampage this year, King?
P-Dug: Well, he did get several pot shots in before Mercenary turned it around there. What we should really be point out is... the match still hasn't even started!
The big man leaves both of his targets out flat on the bottom of the aisleway to great cheer from the audience. He gets to a vertical base, walks over to the dropped championship belt, picks it up, and turns to stalk the King with a smirking grimace. Then after a second thought he walks by the still downed targets and drops the strap on the back of Flip's head on the way by him. Merc goes under the ring apron and pulls out two things: a chain and a steel chair. He turns around, not having noticed the duo have gotten to their feet, and eats a double dropkick that sends Merc back first into the steel steps. Just then, personnel come pouring out of the backstage area to seperate Chanel and King Flip from Mercenary. The duo was just laying boots on the downed Outlaw as officials peel them off of him. Flip is arguing with the officials but they, as well as the referee inside the ring, just want to start the match properly.
KD: Alright, ladies and gentlemen. It looks like we've gotten some order here at ringside. Chanel is being removed from ringside no matter what Flip says. They're checking on Mercenary who just took a STIFF shot to the steel steps after pulling out those weapons.
P-Dug: About time. Let's do this! Tear his head off!
KD: Who are you talking to?
P-Dub: Why not both?
Flip was forced to enter the ring as a couple EMTs checked on Merc. After determining him fine enough to compete, he strides up to the ring apron in a single step and walks over the ropes.
DING DING DING
Both men clash in the center of the ring as the circus ringside is receding back through the curtain. It isn't too many right hands into this exchange when Merc gets the upper hand. Irish whip to the ropes. MASSIVE big boot to the jaw drops the champion. Walter Pyramid rallies behind Mercenary as he continues to bring a solid offense to the conversation. Flip attempts to recover in the corner but no. Running elbow smash in the corner followed quickly by a bulldog to the canvas. Flip rolls to his back just soon enough to eat a guillotine leg drop. Merc drops to one knee, clutching Flip's leg as he pulls down into a pin.

TH-NO!!!
Flip barely gets the shoulder up in time. Mercenary drops three tough right fists to the face of the champion before lifting them both to a vertical base. Irish whip to the ropes. Flip clings to them, losing his footing for a moment as the momentum sends them out from under him. Merc goes for the big boot anyway. The King, still clutching the top rope, drops to the canvas yanking the rope down. Merc gets hung up on the top rope jingling his bells for a moment as Flip chuckles and retreats on all fours to the corner. King Flip gets to his feet and dropkicks Merc off the ring apron before the big man can right themselves on the ropes. The Outlaw plows into the padded guardrail, denting it inward toward the audience. The big man isn't even all there on his feet as Flip jumps over the top rope and executes a stylish Asai moonsault. The referee has no choice but to start a count.
ONE... TWO... THREE... FOUR...
It takes to the count of three for Flip to get back to his feet, though wobbly at best. Mercenary is still trying to use the guardrail to get himself up and failing to do so. Flip stalks the man.
FIVE... SIX...
The champion jukes like he's going to rush Merc, but the Outlaw was ready with a wild big boot. Flip hadn't moved toward him, however, and smiles as he rolls back into the ring.
SEVEN...
King Flip rushes to the opposite side of the ring, bounding off the ropes and using the momentum to baseball slide Merc right back into the ever breaking guardrails. The referee yells at the King. He smiles at the referee as he helps Merc up and both men slide into the ring before the furious referee starts a second count.
KD: Mercenary was on a roll in the opening moments of the match proper, even nearly getting the three count there. But one errant boot later and now he's being jumped on and kicked all over the place. The Outlaw needs to turn this back around or its all Ws for the International champion!
The King tries to continue staying on top, lifting Mercenary up, but the big man easily breaks the grasp and surprises everyone with a spinebuster out of nowhere. Quick to follow up as well is the Outlaw who pounds away with rights and lefts and elbows. Walter Pyramid rocks in cheer. With the referee shouting threats of a count, Mercenary takes a few more free pops before standing up and making his skull and crossbones symbol for an appreciative audience. He picks Flip up by the back of his head fairly soon after, he's no showboat, and begins to work the King into the turnbuckle. The two grapple but it's obvious Mercenary has full control right now. He props Flip up on the top turnbuckle and rises to the second rope. The jam-packed arena is buzzing as they rise to their feet. Flip tries to give a struggle, but no more than a few elbows are thrown wildly before Mercenary cracks the man with a vicious headbutt. Mercenary stands the champion up and turns him around, rising to the top turnbuckle himself. Flip is lifted into the air as the much taller, bigger, and stronger man easily cradles him into a full nelson. They go soaring through the air and the pop couldn't be bigger. Top rope full nelson suplex. Flip bounces face-first off the canvas and trembles as he rolls right out to the thinly-padded concrete. A raucous 'holy shit' chant echoes throughout the arena as Mercenary stumbles to a knee. He gets himself ringside near his opponent, lifting him up, when out of nowhere "Ready For Combat" by Icon For Hire blares over the EXT. Mercenary looks up in confusion.
P-Dug: Mercenary controlling every moment of the last several minutes of this match, but what is this? Is... is that Delilah Ashe's theme music?
KD: If I'm not mistaken... she's got nothing to do with this. But Flip catches an opening! NICE.
With the EXT showing Delilah's tron video on screen and her music playing, both Merc and the referee are looking up to the stage and don't see it coming. Low blow. The Outlaw drops to both knees and Flip rolls into the ring to demand the referee begin a count immediately. The King hobbles to the furthest corner to regain his breath and stretch out the pain. All the while a begrudging count begins while Mercenary writhes on the aisleway, the music and tron cutting out out of nowhere. Instead a live feed from backstage begins to play.
ONE... TWO... THREE...
Merc, squinting through the pain as he looks up at the EXT, sees the tron showing Chanel being dragged out of the sound booth by several security guards. Flip smiles through his heaves in breath.
FOUR... FIVE... SIX...
It seems Flip racked the jewels particularly hard here. Mercenary is having a hard time standing, turning around, and stepping toward the ring, but the man does so with a malicious fury in his eyes. Flip is shook as Mercenary takes one step onto the ring apron from the floor and steps over the top rope sneering and seething with hatred. The next minute and a half of television is Mercenary chasing after King Flip as he runs out of the ring, around the ring, through the ring, around the announce table, and inevitably back into the ring. Flip tries a flying clothesline on Mercenary. No effect. Kick to the shin. Abdomen. Stomach. Slap to the face. Nothing. Eye rake! Mercenary stumbles backward. Flip rushes right into a big boot, but catches it. He sweep the other leg and the big man bounces off the canvas. Merc is back up. Moonsault dropkick to the chin takes him back down to the mat. He gets back up. Belly to belly suplex. He gets back up. Spinning heel kick off the ropes. He gets back up. Crowning Moment! Flip hits his signature pele kick, leaving Mercenary reeling on spaghetti legs. Flip leaps from the canvas to the top rope right behind the big man, waiting for his moment to fly. FLIPTASTIC! The signature dragonrana pin from the top rope!

Chriqui: And your winner, via pinfall ... KING FLIP!!!!
King Flip pulls himself up and raises his own hand, before turning them down and flipping off Mercenary.
KD: Mercenary brought it all out of Flip tonight. Flip might not admit it, but the International Champion was pushed to his absolute limit here tonight.
P-Dug: And in the end, that limit was just a bit further than Mercenary's and that's why his hand is raised right now.
KD: I hope...
As Flip is handed his championship and begins to exit the ring after the conclusion of his match, the sound of rapid drumbeats and guitar riffs blare through the arena as white smoke billows from the stage area ...
KD: What a second … what is this?!
P-DUG: He doesn't go here!
ON THIS DAY!
I SEE CLEARLY!
EVERYTHING! HAS COME TO LIFE!
I SEE CLEARLY!
EVERYTHING! HAS COME TO LIFE!
Flip backs to the center of the ring, clutching the title in his grip while watching the stage intently as Darius rushes through the smoke, hyping himself up at the top of the ramp. Darius then stops at the center of the stage, slowly looks toward the ring at Flip, and smiles widely.
KD: It seems like we're about to have another match, folks!
P-DUG: I never would've guessed Darius would cash in so soon! Especially here on Rampage! Grizzly Duggan must have worked this out! Our brother is a crazy son of a gun!
Darius smacks himself in the face a few times, jumps in place, and then takes a few steps toward the ramp, but then stops suddenly, a quizzical look forming on his face. Darius then lifts a finger, wags it in a 'no' motion, then slowly backs up the ramp to the stage, disappearing through the curtain. Darius' music then stops, leaving Flip standing in the ring with a look of confusion.
KD: Well that should come as a surprise to absolutely no one; Darius is playing mind games!
P-DUG: It's a surprise to me! But it's brilliant! Keep the champs on their toes, they'll never know when Darius will strike!

Chris Page Vs Darna Dare
Singles Match
Referee: Mike Michaelson
Additional Info: Chris Page's Rampage Television Debut
Mike Michaelson is just entering the ring as the crowd remains hyped for the Season Premiere of Rampage.
KD: Well folks, it’s time to see what Chris Page and Darna Dare can do to keep this night rolling.
P-Dug: I expect some blood shed to occur tonight.
Chriqui: The following match is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first from Zzyzx, California & weighing in at 227 pounds... ”THE ELITE” CHRIS PAGE!!!
"Stepped On" hits over the speakers and "The Elite" Chris Page makes his way out from the back with EWC Hall-of-Famer Dominic Sanders in tow. He poses on the ramp before making his way down to the ring.
Page gets into the ring while Sanders stays on the outside. Page waits in the corner for his opponent/for the bell to ring.
Chriqui: And his opponent from Sugbu, Philippines & weighing in at 113 pounds... DARNA DARE!!!
Coils of thick, gray smoke drift across the stage, carrying in their midst the ethereal, ghostlike form of Darna Dare. As the beat drops, she twirls into an emphatic pirouette, her bare foot scything through the air as she follows its arc into a tumble, landing in a three-point crouch with her jaw raised and gaze trained upon the ring. She straightens with a fierce urgency, bold steps carrying her forward with arms swinging and skirts swishing. At the base of the ramp she handsprings onto the apron and arches over the ropes, twisting her frame to land balanced on her hands upon the turnbuckle, spine curved dramatically and one leg extended, toes pointed out into the crowd. She holds her signature pose with a determined glare, then spins into a second tumble, plunging into a casual, bounding skip, arms loose at her sides and a devilish grin gracing her lips.
KD: Chris Page looks ready for this match.
P-Dug: It’s hard to get a read on Darna Dare.
DING DING DING
Darna Dare is rocking back and forth on her feet as Chris Page just shrugs his shoulders. He steps out of the corner and meets Darna in the center of the ring. They are exchanging some choice words before Chris cocks his hand back. He goes to swing which Darna ducks underneath. She continues to duck under each punch before getting caught with a vicious back elbow. The shot rocks Darna as Chris continues firing off knife edge chops before grabbing Darna’s arm, putting it through her legs and tossing her over head. Darna lands on her back and bows up a little. Chris is quickly back onto his feet as he moves toward Darna. He goes to pick her up but she catches him with a quick head scissors before moving in a counter clockwise motion before letting go and sending Chris across the ring.
Chris shakes his head as Darna quickly scales up to the top rope. She motions for him to get up. Chris is just getting up to his feet when Darna comes flying off with a crossbody. Chris falls down but he rolls through while holding Darna in his arms. He quickly places her onto his shoulders before spinning her out and dropping down with a Neckbreaker.
KD: That neckbreaker could have some serious ramifications later in the match.
P-Dug: A lot of people see them as a transitional move, but trust me. The recoil and whiplash, you don't want to get hit by one of those.
Chris rolls over to a kneeling position while lifting Darna’s head up. He drives multiple fists down onto her face before lifting her head up. He slips his arm underneath her chin before starting to squeeze. Michaelson is checking to make sure Darna wants to give up but she shakes her head. Chris slowly tightens his arm as Darna starts to struggle for air. Chris continues to apply the pressure as Darna eventually gets to one knee. Chris tries to maintain his leverage until she slams an elbow into his midsection.
Darna continues to slam her elbow into his midsection before biting down on his forearm. Michaelson admonishes her for the bite as Chris looks disgusted at her. She just shrugs it off while bouncing off the ropes and hitting a roundhouse right up side his head. Chris staggers backward as Darna continues to throw multiple kicks into his body. Chris remains on his feet until Darna lands an enziugiri to the back of his head. As Chris is getting up, Darna kicks up again while dragging her toenail across his skin.
P-Dug: Jordan Sharpe is unbelievably turned on right now, but I have to say what the fu...
KD: This is definitely some interesting stuff!!!
Darna is laughing as a Chris is holding his face. He slowly removes his hand as a stream of blood is flowing down his cheek. He snarls before charging at Darna. He goes for a clothesline but Darna catches him with a school boy style roll up and the moment Michaelson gets into position. Darna grabs a handful of Chris’s tights while also placing her right foot on the bottom rope.

Darna quickly slides out of the ring before Michaelson realizes what happened. Chris is arguing with the referee as Darna is laughing while walking up the ramp.
KD: I can’t believe Darna took the cheap victory... I can't believe a lot about that match really...
P-Dug: Chris Page just got robbed, and believe you me he and Dom are going to shout it from the rooftops for ages.
KD: You're right about that.

We return from the commercial break to a scene in the corridor just outside of the locker room at The Walter Pyramid. Standing just outside the doorway is Rampage’s resident Shinijoshi member Megumi in her full gear and entrance attire. While the fans cheer her arrival, she seems preoccupied by something in the locker room behind her. As she turns just slightly we can see a woman sitting on the floor, back to the wall. Her long blonde hair has all fallen in front of her face and obscures it from view. What we see of her includes the telltale kickpads, knee pads and trunks of wrestling gear. However she also appears to be wearing a long purple jacket that matches her ring gear in color. One might think the woman is quite sad by how she hugs her knees to her chest. Megumi’s expression grows more concerned as she gazes at this woman, but suddenly she’s interrupted by the arrival of Bryan Spade.
Bryan Spade: “Megumi! Do you have a moment to answer some questions?”
Megumi’s head jerks back toward the camera and she nods after a slight delay.
Megumi: “Oh, y-yes of course. Go ahead.”
Bryan Spade: “First off, any thoughts about her opponent tonight, Cruz Macaque?”
Megumi: “Well Cruz is making her main roster debut tonight, and she’s obviously out to make a name for herself by beating me. It’s the season opener, though, and I’ve been preparing for this battle ever since the end of Wrestlefest. I will give Cruz the fight of her life tonight and start the year off with victory.”
As she says the word ‘victory’, we see the blonde woman stir. She slowly raises her head and blinks a couple times as she inadvertently looks at the camera.
Bryan Spade: “Speaking of Wrestlefest, it’s no secret that it didn’t go the way Shinijoshi were hoping. How is Shinijoshi going to bounce back from falling short at the finale of last season?”
The blonde woman, now clearly Emiko Okita, hops to her feet and starts walking quickly toward the two. Megumi meanwhile frowns as she gives the question some thought. The toll of Wrestlefest is clearly on her mind, and it takes her a few moments to conjure up an answer.
Megumi: “That’s a tough question. Yes, the others fell short of their goals at Wrestlefest and I wasn't in competition, but I believe we can turn things around b-”
She’s cut off by Emiko’s arrival and sudden throwing an arm around Megumi’s shoulder. While Megumi nearly jumps from the sudden arrival, Emiko grins down the camera. We see that Emiko’s wearing her Megumi t-shirt over her ring gear, and that her coat has several patches on it in both English and Japanese.
Emiko: “Because Shinijoshi is the strongest unit in EWC! Let’s be real, no other unit has the variety and drive that we do. No one’s got the guts, looks and skill we do. Shinijoshi’s gonna start by puttin’ Wrestlefest in the past; can’t do anything about it now, and revenge’s gotta wait for now. That chance is coming someday, but for now Shinijoshi’s going to roar back to the top and go through anyone standing in the way! Shinijoshi’s stronger than ever, and we’re gonna deliver heart poundin’ action every show bell to bell. Hell, if anyone thinks they can mess with Shinijoshi, I’m gonna batter ‘em with explosive offense. No one’s ready for Shinijoshi this year.”
She beams with pride while Megumi just looks horribly confused and/or horrified. Megumi tries to reclaim some manner of control and nods into the camera.
Megumi: “Yes, well. We’ll do our best to gain more victories this year no matter what happens.
Undeterred, Emiko chimes in again.
Emiko: “And Megu-ne here? She’s gonna overwhelm her opponents on both Rampage and Prime. She’s a two brand superstar! When she fights there’s gonna be all kinds of chaos. Probably some blood too! Maybe.”
Bryan Spade: “Right, well that’s all the time we have for now. Thanks for your time, ladies, and good luck.”
As Bryan Spade heads off screen, the camera lingers on Megumi and Emiko. Megumi doesn’t quite glare at Emiko, but it’s clear that she’s not entirely approving of her sister’s remarks. This fades quickly as her expression turns to one of concern.
Megumi: “Are you okay, Emiko-san? You seemed to be really down before, but you seem fine now.”
Emiko blinks in surprise.
Emiko: “Huh? Down? What made you think that, Megu-ne?”
Megumi nods back toward the locker room.
Megumi: “Well, you were huddled up by the wall there..”
Emiko laughs.
Emiko: “Oh that? I was just sleepin’! But I couldn’t help myself once I woke up and saw the interview. Go beat Cruz tonight! I believe in you!”
With that Emiko pats her taller sister on the shoulder and heads back into the locker room. Megumi lingers by the door for a moment and then steps back inside as well while the shot fades into a graphic for the next match.

Cruz Macaque Vs Megumi
Singles
Referee: Pierce Patterson
Additional Info: Cruz Macaque's Main Roster Debut
We return to ringside and cut over to the commentary booth.
KD: Next up, we have Cruz Macaque's Main Roster debut, taking on Megumi. This match could be a sleeper hit on the show.
P-Dug: I am interested in seeing how their styles connect, very similar wrestlers.
Chriqui: The following match is a singles match. Introducing first from The Luzon Rainforest & weighing in at 135 pounds... CRUZ MACAQUE!!!
Cruz Macaque makes her entrance and gets a surprising pop from the crowd for her debut. She starts to head towards the ring when CHRIS ROCK COMES RUNNING OUT OF THE BACK AND SLAMS A CHAIR INTO HER BACK! Cruz loses her footing and falls down, and then she rolls down the ramp. Chris Rock gives chase and slams the chair into her several times. Chris Rock gives out an evil laughter with each shot. Megumi comes running out from the back and pulls Chris Rock off Cruz, but Chris slams the chair into her head as well! The crowd boos hard as Chris Rock runs out as side entrance when security rush him.
KD: What the hell just happened?!
P-Dug: KU and Cruz injected themselves into the beef with Will Smith and Chris Rock at WrestleFest, and now Cruz' is cashing receipts... BUT MEGUMI DID NOTHING WRONG!!!
KD: This is frankly outrageous, Rock needs to be arrested.
P-DUG: To be fair, he should have been arrested years ago when he made that fucking piece of shit Spiral bullshit.
Camera cuts to ...
We open up backstage, where both Rachel and Rory can be seen flanking the Undisputed Champion, Melody Malone. She looks unnervingly engrossed in tightening the athletic tape around her wrists, as Rachel beams beside her.
Rachel: Did you hear El Pablo?
Rory: Guaranteeing Mels makes it to Stranglemania in the finals…
Rory smirks, perhaps a bit of pride on his face as the sound of tearing tape interrupts the two and Melody spits a fiber out to the ground.
Melody Malone: No… not guaranteed.
Rachel: He certainly thinks so.
She scoffs at her business manager’s folly, pulling her gloves over her hand gingerly. A partial frown creasing the lips of our Queen.
Melody Malone: Yeah? Well so did I at Uncensored. And at Scars and Stripes against Asriel. At Stranglemania last year.
Rachel holds her hands up defensively as Melody puts on the other glove, this one no longer fingerless like its partner as she adjusts the missing digit into its quasi-sheath.
Melody Malone: I take nothing for granted anymore. What I did at Wrestlefest? Is what I’m going to do from here on out. I don’t care what it takes, and I think I’ve proven that…
She gazes to the championship, straps folded neatly beneath the large face plate as it sits atop the vanity. Her eyes narrow, the sounds of the Los Angeles crowd seeping into the locker room area as they await her arrival.
Melody Malone: Everyone is hungry. My name has been on everyone’s lips surrounding this tournament, and for good reason. Tonight, I whet their appetite and make them reconsider what exactly they just fucking signed up for…
To that, Malone plucks the championship from the vanity and hands it off to Rory. She turns her back to her suitor as he obliges and fastens the championship around her waist. She lifts her crown off of the table beside it, setting it daintily atop her head before she raises an eyebrow to Rory.
Melody Malone: Shall we?
She brushes past him, exiting the room as Rory watches her leave before turning to Rachel with a halfcocked grin.
Rory: … Don’t wait up.
The Scotsman follows behind Malone, exiting as Rachel watches on with a knowing smirk and we return ringside.

Phoenix Winterborn Vs Moxie
2/3 Falls Match
Toyo Yasahiro
Additional Info: Moxie Defends His HBO Broadcast Championship
We return to ringside.
KD: Next up, it's a championship match! Moxie defending his HBO Broadcast Championship!
P-Dug: I am not sure who this stipulation benefits more, but this will be an interesting match.
Chriqui: The following match is a 2/3 Falls match. Introducing first from CHICAGO, ILLINOIS & weighing in at 223 pounds... PHOENIX WINTERBORN!!!
The chorus of the song kicks in, as Phoenix throws back the hood of his sleeveless jacket, pointing out towards the crowd, who is in the midst of racous cheers for him. Marissa Davidson appears by his side, resting a hand on his shoulder, her other hand running through her hair as the duo make their way towards the ring, interacting with the fans scattered along the rampway. As Phoenix hops up onto the apron, he waits for Marissa to climb the ringside steps before sitting on the middle rope to let her in, before rolling in himself and running towards the opposite turnbuckle, throwing him arms out for the crowd while his music dies down.
Chriqui: And his opponent from London, England & weighing in at 202 pounds... The HBO Broadcast Champion, MOXIE!!!
The Gracious Few's 'Honest Man' hits the speakers, prompting the lights to dance around the arena with an ominous red glow. Moxie emerges from behind the curtain. He marches to the end of the stage and glares at the capacity crowd surrounding him. Raising his fist to his jaw, Moxie lets out a roar and walks down the aisle, ignoring the paying spectators.
He slides underneath the bottom rope and rises to his feet in the middle of the ring. Moxie faces the crowd before snapping back to face the camera, emphatically raising both clenched fists high above his head before slowly descending them in stereo to both sides of his jaw.
KD: Winterborn earned this match going to the limit with Grizzly Duggan. He lost, but one could argue in defeat he gained more momentum than Moxie in his own defeat.
P-Dug: You could, but you could also argue Winterborn took more damage vs Grizzly, than Moxie did in that triple threat.
DING DING DING
Out of the gate, Moxie rushes at Winterborn and catches him with a European uppercut that sends him backwards into his corner. Winterborn bounces off the corner pad into Mox, who catches him with another European uppercut right under the chin. Mox grabs Winterborn by his ear to spin him around, then grabs on a waist-lock and rips Winterborn backwards into a German suplex! Winterborn rolls through the suplex and grabs on a sleeper hold before ripping Mox backwards into a snap-dragon suplex. Moxie rolls to his feet, smashes his forehead into the base of Winterborn's skull and tears him into another German suplex. Winterborn rolls through, but grabs at the back of his head in pain. Moxie advances, Winterborn pushes Mox off and then spins around into a backfist. Mid-spin Mox grabs Winterborn's waist and tears him into a third German! Moxie drags Winterborn up by his hair, grabs him into a side-headlock and then flips him upwards into a vertical suplex before throwing his head forwards. Moxie's Crash Landing! The back of Winterborn's head snaps against the top rope with a devastating whiplash effect that plops Winterborn back onto his feet and into Mox's direction, Mox clocks him with a superkick that turns him inside out! Mox covers!

KD: Wow! Just like that, in a matter of minutes Mox has gotten the first fall in this title match!
P-Dug: That was a great combination of moves for Mox, all focused around Winterborn's head which may not be 100% after his war with Grizzly 6 weeks ago, and worked to his full advantage. He needs to press that luck now or else Winterborn will have the gas to mount a comeback.
Moxie drags Winterborn up by his face and sends him forward into the ropes, Mox goes for another superkick but Winterborn pops him up and down into a powerbomb! Winterborn stumbles backwards into the ropes, rebounds off them and then goes for a wild shotgun dropkick. Mox avoids the dropkick, and then fires his own at Winterborn. Winterborn avoids the dropkick and rolls out of the ring. Mox is feeling himself, he rushes at Winterborn and dives through the ropes into a suicide dive... BUT Winterborn spins around and catches Mox mid-air with a spinning backfist! Mox contorts in air and then hits the padded concrete hard. He tries to pull himself up the barricade, Winterborn grabs Mox into a sleeper hold and then snap-dragon suplexes him over the barricade into the crowd!!! Mox crashes into about ten different people and there's all sorts of chaos as Winterborn rolls back into the ring just as our ref counts 10!!!
P-Dug: Brilliant move from Winterborn, he gets himself a fall in this match and he might make it two! I don't know if Mox is pull himself out of that crowd in the next fifteen seconds!

Winterborn pulls himself up the ropes, then pulls Mox up by his head to his knees. Winterborn dropkicks Mox in the back of his head! Phoenix grabs at his head off the recoil, but pulls himself up and then pulls Mox up. Mox lands a European uppercut under Winterborn's chin and then Winterborn explodes forward into a headbutt that flips Mox inside out! Winterborn backs into the ropes and goes flying into a shotgun dropkick, Mox falls limp out of the way and Winterborn hits the ref! Toyo goes flying backwards into a corner and passes out from the pain. Winterborn falls to his knees and cups his head in his hands, he looks up and cusses... He never sees it coming, probably doesn't even feel it. Amis Shelton rolls in the ring behind Phoenix Winterborn and slams his knee into the base of his skull, Dragoon's Glory!!! Amis makes his way to the ref and dumps a bottle of water on his face to wake him up before rolling out of the ring. In the ring Moxie has dragged Winterborn up into a pumphandle position, and Moxie's Endgame! Toyo counts slow, but it doesn't really matter.

DING DING DING
Chriqui: And your winner, via 2 falls to 1... AND STILL HBO Broadcast Champion ... MOXIE!!!!
The crowd are a mix of cheers and boos as the commentary team and Moxie’s theme music are swiftly interrupted by the returning Amis Shelton. The camera switches instantly to the ring where ‘The Renegade’ has armed himself with a microphone, with a smirk on his face largely due to the insane reaction he’s getting. Moxie planted himself in the far corner of the ring, clutching his HBO Broadcast Championship as he recovered from the match he just went through.
Crowd: AMIS SHELTON! AMIS SHELTON! AMIS SHELTON!
The smirk then quickly disappeared as Amis raised the microphone to his lips once more in an effort to battle the raucous crowd reaction.
Amis Shelton: I think it’s safe to say that you guys remember who I am.
The crowd erupted once more into a frenzy, the former International, Television and FSW Champion let the reaction fester for a few seconds before assuming control once more.
Amis Shelton: Sir in the front row, you can quit rubbing your eyes and for those at home, don’t adjust your sets. This isn’t a legacy episode of Friday Night Rampage, nope! You’re all witnessing Amis Fucking Shelton back inside an EWC ring!
Crowd: WELCOME BACK! WELCOME BACK! WELCOME BACK!
Amis Shelton: But if you think for a second that I came back for any of you people, then I’m afraid you’re sorely mistaken. I didn’t come back to pander or engage in verbal fellatio with you people. I didn’t take out that sorry excuse for a wrestler just now to please any of you. I’m here to open some fucking eyes around here because it surprises me how plain stupid and naive you people are.
Amis extended his arm to point at Moxie in the corner as the jubilant cheers from the capacity crowd had switched to a chorus of boos.
Amis Shelton: This man right here is a hell of a lot better than every single one of you give him credit for. At just 21 years of age he’s already etched his name in the history books of this company. In 3 years he’s accomplished more than a lot of any of you people will achieve in 30 years and it’s about time he’s shown the respect he’s deserved.
Amis Shelton: And as his mentor, it’s only fitting that I ensure that his legacy and wrestling superiority comes to full fruition. Because whilst I certainly had all the tools to become the King of the mountain here roughly 5 years ago, I couldn’t accomplish what Moxie is destined to achieve in his career and I’ll be damned if it doesn’t happen. Ladies and Gentlemen, Moxie is done waiting for his turn at the table. In 2023, Moxie is taking whatever his heart and mind desires; be it the record books, the main events or becoming the King of the mountain. He’s going to take it by Any. Means. Necessary.
Amis tossed the microphone out of the ring which signalled for The Gracious Few’s “Honest Man” to resume playing on the speakers. Moxie walks to the centre of the squared circle where his arm is raised by his mentor and simultaneously raises his HBO Broadcast Championship as the cameras cut to…

"The Love Child" Jamie Love Vs "Queen" Melody Malone
Singles Match
Referee: Toyo Yasahiro
Additional Info: LOTR Round 1 Match.. Non-Title
We return to ringside where the crowd hasn't settled in the slightest - stomping, shouting, generally making a mess of the Walter Pyramid as the show rolls on toward a fever pitch.
KD: California can't get enough of Friday Night Rampage, and rightly so - because we're about to get a visit from the Queen of the EWC herself, in the second of two matches in the first round of the Legends of the Ring tournament. The ultimate winner goes on to a cross-brand finale at StrangleMania. The final goal? Melody Malone's Undisputed Championship.
P-Dug: Oh yeah, it's happening! Let's bring out the poor shmuck facing this one-woman firing squad.
Chriqui: The following contest is for one fall, and is a first round match in the LEGENDS OF THE RING tournament Introducing first, from Takayama, Japan, weighing in at one hundred and twenty pounds... JAMIE LOVE!!!
The arena plunges into darkness as a haunting piano melody can be heard over the sound system. As the beat starts at 11 seconds a spotlight shines on Sara Rische playing an expensive Grand Piano to the left of the stage. She plays for 10 seconds when a second spotlight shines on Jamie Love as he enters the arena to a chorus of boos as his body guard John Bishop stands behind him. He walks down the aisle with JB following closely behind him, glancing out at the live audience, smirking at the with disdain in the shadows of the House hoodie he has on. As he climbs into the ring Sara makes her way down to ringside. He hands Sara his hoodie and stretches in the corner as (he waits for his opponent/his opponent stares at him with an irritated look in their eyes.
Chriqui: And his opponent, making her way to the ring accompanied by Rory... she is the EWC Undisputed Champion... YOUR QUEEN of EWC... MELODY MALONE!!!
The lights dim, but don’t go dark before the soft words of Billie Eilish’s “You Should See Me In A Crown” begin to play over the P.A. system. Melody comes out from backstage with her crown upon her head, the Undisputed title about her waist, and her personal retainer Rory Hyland in tow. She’s unflinching to the crowd’s expression as she comes down the entrance ramp. Rory gets onto the apron, holding the ropes open for Melody to climb through without losing her crown. As Melody climbs into the ring, she gives the crowd a sarcastic smile before she relinquishes the crown to Rory and prepares for her match.
KD: The Pitbull, Jamie Love, silenced many of his naysayers last season by holding the tag straps with one Xavier Reid, and he's developed a taste for gold - for the finer things! He's looking at at golden opportunity in the form of our Undisputed Queen, and it wouldn't be the first time he's shocked the world with his tenacity!
P-Dug: Those are long odds, and what? Melody Malone's gonna be content to let this puppy be her single defeat of this season? It's gonna take a lot more than a little Bastard to dethrone the Queen. He'd have to bring the whole House with him to have a chance in hell, and I don't see an army behind him, do you?
DING DING DING
Astonishment jerks the crowd into a furor as Jamie Love speeds across the ring, slamming a forearm into the throat of Malone. With a choking gurgle she falls back, attempting to duck a second blow - only for it to be a feint, and his calf slams into the back of her knee a beat later. Rooting himself, the Pitbull executes a delirious spin and whips up the tip of his elbow, catching the Undisputed Champion in the temple and pitching her into the ropes!
On the outside of the ring, Rory looks worried, yelling out encouragement and starting forward only to watch as Jamie seizes control of an arm and attempts to suck Melody down into his guard - and the immediate threat of an armbar. She's got the other limb tangled in the ropes, and this extra leverage allows her to fight back. With a GROWL she locks out her elbow and succeeds in yanking Love back to his feet-- right into a vicious headbutt!
Their foreheads collide, but the Queen isn't done, twisting Jamie's arm around his own neck and falling backwards, pulling him into a straight-jacket guillotine over the top rope, her legs arching over the back to add pressure - and keep her in position as she manipulates his free arm into her clutches and starts to wrench backwards on those famously damaged fingers. Toyo Yasahiro attempts to intervene, administering a count - and Melody seems to be ignoring it...
KD: You might have spoken too soon - this may not be for her title, but Malone stands to drop out of the tournament here, all because she can't resist a bit of revenge. This vicious streak she's been exhibiting more and more during her interrupted title reign could easily prove her downfall!
P-Dug: Oh, yeah, I'm sure that's her plan. Please.
Indeed it isn't, as on the count of four Malone narrows her eyes and unhooks her legs from around the struggling Pitbull, falling toward the outside of the ring... with his fingers still wrenched back, his arm trapped by her own. His reddened, straining features crease in deeper pain as he's snapped forward over the ropes and tumbles heavily onto the apron, crunching down on the entrapped arm. Releasing on impact, Melody rolls to her feet and finally licks her own wounds, rubbing at the red mark on her throat as she shoots Rory a smug, authoritative glare.
'Don't doubt me'. He gets the message and smiles ruefully, as a furious Yasahiro yells a dressing down that the Queen plainly ignores, moving towards the recovering Love and yanking him off the apron by the hair. He's pulled back to his feet, but manages to drive a foot between the legs - to a mixed chorus of sympathy and excitement from the crowd - and then rail Malone with a tidy sit-out jawbreaker that sends her stumbling. The diminutive technician pops back to his feet, snarls, and then runs in to hit a neckbreaker for good measure, ragdolling Malone against the barricade. Not letting up, he jams a boot to her throat and holds onto the barricade with both hands, half choking and half stomping her into submission, pausing now and again to spit venom at Rory - who has the grace and sense to look conflicted.
Jamie's only allowed to get away with this for so long. Thrashing out from underneath him, coughing to clear her beleagured gullet, Malone sweeps a leg and sends Love stumbling off the barricade. His attempt to stay standing works in the Queen's favor, as so many things do - before he can fully recover, she plants a boot up top and executes a tightly-angled flip, catching him with a cutter on the way through - the ROYAL TREATMENT!
KD: Well, she's not the Queen for nothing. The Pitbull living up to his tenacious namesake, but Malone won't be denied. Perhaps her 'plan' is to get him counted out - she's certainly got the opportunity to do so here.
P-Dug: Nah, that's not the kind of statement she wants to make.
Indeed, the champ is rolling her victim back into the ring, sparing a few venomous words for his ears and those of the nearest fans - who are busily heckling her, on the mere principle that they have the chance to do so. Love is trying to fight back, but she curtails him with a vengeful elbow to the throat, then sends him beneath the bottom rope just in time to break the count, sliding in after him. Jamie isn't allowing her to keep the advantage, clawing his way upright and stumbling away. Malone pursues, only to be caught off-guard by a spinning double-leg attempt, darting backwards in a sprawl, and using her out-flung arms to scoot around to Love's flank.
He tries to straighten up, only to be caught with a picture-perfect dropkick and flung into the corner! His skull bounces off the turnbuckle, and to a ripple of shock from the crowd, Jamie bounces forward with the momentum, potentially right back into Malone's clutches - but he manages to reverse her instinctive lock-up, briefly capturing an arm wringer, then whirring into a modified enziguri that lands like a gunshot!
P-Dug: Holy shit, I guess he ain't the Pitbull for nothing.
Floating over to take the back, Jamie locks up a camel clutch, hissing savagery in Malone's ear as she struggles to fight back, bucking her weight beneath him. They fully leave the mat for a moment, and it gives her the opportunity to twist out, only to find the tenacity of her opponent matchless - he twists out into an armbar, holding on as she keeps twisting to escape it, her hair a mess and breath shuddering out of her lungs. She manages to haul him straight into the air, hyper-extending her own arm with the effort but snapping up a high knee right between the eyes! Love falls backwards, and she dives on top of him, raining down a storm of bloody-minded forearms, then spinning to her feet right into a standing moonsault-- her knees crashing into the sternum, as she makes the cover...

KICKOUT!
Jamie tosses Malone from on top of him, and both find their feet simultaneously, Love's eyes wild as he pursues the champ with another chopping kick to the back of the knees. It lands, and a second brings her down. Locking eyes with Rory at ringside, Jamie wraps his legs around the waist and slides in his kata-ha-jime, THE LOVE ATTACHMENT! Falling backwards, he drags Malone down with him, and she seems to be in danger! Toyo Yasahiro drops low to ask for the submission...
...Melody Malone is struggling, the damage to her throat surely counting against her, the battle waging long enough that the crowd start to cheer restlessly, still unsure who to support but sensing a tumultuous and unexpected ending. Yasahiro calls again for the submission, demanding a response from the struggling Malone...
And then Jamie Love SCREAMS.
The Queen has managed to sink her teeth into the Pitbull's arm, blood welling betwixt enamel as she uses the shock of the moment to strain away and get a leg onto the bottom rope, forcing the break. Jamie stumbles away, clutching at his seeping forearm, and Malone simply gives a wild shake of her head, red-faced and furious as she surges upright and drives a whipping roundhouse kick into the injured arm. She goes for a second, and Love blocks with the other arm; actually managing to control the leg, the Queen hopping on one foot momentarily, before she spins and drives a mule kick into Jamie's damaged hand. She rolls free, back to her feet in the corner, where she waits momentarily before plunging forward with an explosive dropkick! Into the opposite corner goes Love, rebounding a second time...
Right onto his face. Malone is ready for him, seizing BOTH arms and dragging Love up against the turnbuckle. Sliding to the outside, she pulls each arm taut and whips them into the corner post, then crosses both arms at the wrist, wrenches Jamie's fingers backwards and drops onto her back, locking out his shoulders and elbows, and garnering another scream that has her grinning ear-to-ear. She's demonic as she rises, stalking around the outside of the ring as Love pulls back his stricken arms and hands, and curls into a ball inside the ring. The Queen heads around the outside, getting into position.
As Love rises, he's wary, one hand shaking as the other hangs at his side, but his expression vigilant as he looks to the apron and then the nearest turnbuckle - expecting to see Malone ready and waiting to dive, a circling vulture.
She's not there, so he looks to the next.
And that's when she comes soaring out of left field, the crowd exploding on principle as she executes a familiar, inverted somersault, descending on her prey to hit an emphatic, exclamation point of a shooting star DDT. THE ROYAL PROCLAMATION.
Jamie's head impacts the canvas, a tangle of limbs as he bounces off and flops down again, ripe for the plucking... Malone sends a fiery glare around the arena, before she stands and plants a boot on his chest, commanding Yasahiro to make the count. As the official obeys, she looks to the ramp - as if expecting somebody. Does she look... worried?

KICKOUT!!!
KD: WE THOUGHT IT WAS OVER!
The crowd can't believe it, and neither can Malone, even with the lackadaisical nature of her pin. Love rolls up a shoulder, and latches onto her leg, twisting her right onto her back as her eyes widen in shock - tearing her attention away from the very empty stage. Love grinds his bloody forearm into her throat, and she bares her teeth - spotted with his blood - right back at him, in defiance. He struggles to seize her arm, his own barely responsive, but he manages to spin out into position to secure the cross arm breaker, getting his legs up and over...
And Malone shifts her head aside, the reversal both smooth and savage as she stands beneath one trapped leg, pulling her smaller opponent off the canvas into an Argentine leg lock - the QUEEN'S GRACE! She doesn't have all of it, Love contorting, hopping his other leg forward and trying to twist to throw hands - the trouble is, they're not good hands, and Malone not only stuffs them, but manages to bring HER other leg down on top of them, boot grinding into fragile, strained digits as she stamps her authority over Love. The hold is cinched in, and while he's not far from the ropes--
--he has nothing to grab them with! He's not even able to tap out! Yasahiro asks for the verbal submission and, gnashing and biting, Jamie won't respond - straining at his trapped arms, his knee threatening to give out with a wet snap as it's bent more and more deeply over Malone's neck. The Queen will not be denied; she screams at him to submit.
He won't do it. So with a bloodthirsty roar she grinds her boot into his fingers, and with one last mighty wrench...
...guarantees there's just too much pain. One moment he's fighting, in the next he's OUT.
DING DING DING
Chriqui: And your winner, via referee stoppage ... MELODY MALONE!!!!
Toyo Yasahiro has to physically pull Malone away from her broken foe, torn between checking on the unconscious man and looking out for his own interests as she almost turns on him in the process - a look of utter fury on her regal face, stumbling backwards with Jamie's weight falling from her neck and shoulders. Rory calls out from ringside, and she rallies with a cold hiss, falling back against the ropes with her hands held up, surrendering just momentarily to the official's authority. Still watching her, Yasahiro moves to check on Love and calls for the medic, as the crowd din reaches a climactic clamor, and the Queen straightens up and steps forward - allowing her title belt to be strapped around her waist before she slowly, smugly dons her invisible, but undisputable crown.
KD: We learned at WrestleFest that she'll do almost anything to keep herself at the top of this sport, and Melody Malone proved it once again, all but tearing Jamie Love apart rather than give him a WHIFF of the opportunity he came looking for. He took the initiative, and for a moment he almost had her, but once more the Queen refuses to bow.
P-Dug: Hey, he got his shots in, you can't say he didn't. Against anyone else, it was a winning performance, but no matter how deep you dig - Melody Malone's got a grave waiting for ya six feet further down. Rest in peace, kid.

MAIN EVENT | MATCH 7
Lavender Vs Ace King
Steel Cage Match
Referee: Toyo Yasahiro
Additional Info: Ace King Defends His United States Championship
We return to ringside where a forbidding structure now looms over the crowd, who are busily chanting back and forth for the two competitors in our main event.
KD: There's a big match feel, and not just because we've reached the climax of our evening - this is for more than just bragging rights, more than just the thrill of overcoming your opponent in the cage. This is for the United States Championship, and represents a return to form for Lavender; who survived one of the greatest seasons in EWC history, carrying that championship from the BORT all the way to WrestleFest before losing it, shockingly, to Ace King.
P-Dug: And to the Gambler, it represents the chance to extend a legendary seven hundred and seventy seven day run that he resumed in December. If he wins, he goes on as the greatest United States champion of all time. This is for all the marbles, baby. This is about being champion, and forging a freaking LEGACY.
Chriqui: The following contest is a cage match, and is for the EWC United States Championship. Introducing first, from Seattle Washington, and weighing in at one hundred and thirty two pounds... LAVENDER!!!
The lights go out as 'Challenge' by Cellar Darling begins to play. The lights flash in time to the intro until the first vocals hit. As the vocals hit smoke billows from behind the curtains and a spotlight shines down upon the center of the stage. The lights come back on shortly afterward and out walks Lavender. She looks out across the crowd as the crowd erupts into cheer. A smile creeps across her face as she embraces their warm welcome.
Lavender begins to make her way down to the ring with a calm and cheerful demeanour. As Lavender reaches the bottom of the ramp she walks over to the steel steps, walks up the steel stairs, and enters the steel cage. Lavender then climbs the nearest turnbuckle and holds her arms up high in the air to accept the warm adulation from the crowd. Lavender steps down from the turnbuckle and waits for the match to commence.
KD: The winner of the Hellevator, the ordained Best of Rampage, the former United States Champion... call her what you will, the Silent Princess made her MARK on Friday Night Rampage last year. Hers is a legacy we will never forget.
P-Dug: Yeah, and it's one she means to make bigger and better. Champions don't just quit, bro.
Chriqui: And her opponent...
"THE ACE OF SPADES! THE ACE OF SPADES!!!"
The signature Motorhead anthem rips through the Walter Pyramid, and the crowd starts cheering. As the drums kick in, pyro goes off up and down the ramp. Once the guitars hit, a plume of fire goes up on either side of the ramp as Ace King rises to the stage from a platform, looking out at the crowd and nodding in appreciation.
Chriqui: Making his way to the ring, FROM Las Vegas, Nevada, weighing in at two hundred and twenty nine pounds... He is the EWC United States Champion... THE GAMBLER... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE KIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINGGGGGG!!!
A thin smile crosses Ace's face as his weathered eyes look out at the crowd, pausing for a few more seconds on the platform before casually making his way down the ramp toward the waiting cage, his arms outstretched for fans on either side of the barricade. He stops a few steps short of the cage, then ducks inside as gold pyro explodes off each turnbuckle. Ace spins up to one knee, then takes another appreciative look out at the crowd before getting back to his feet and turning his attention to his opponent, his game face firmly on as the door is locked behind him.
KD: What can we even say about Ace King? The man needs no introduction, and he's back on top where he belongs. Despite taking a loss to Lavender on our season finale, he turned his fortunes around and claimed that title as his own at WrestleFest XX - overcoming both Lavender and Moxie to bring him here, his first defense of what COULD be many more.
P-Dug: Say what you want about that man - and I do and I will - but he fought his way through an uncharacteristically bad year to show us all he ain't too old, and he ain't done fighting the best in this sport. He's got another uphill battle tonight in the form of the Silent Princess, but there's no doubt they come into this as equals. Well, maybe a little doubt. It ain't like he pinned her at WrestleFest after all...
DING DING DING
As the crowd rages their support of both competitors, neither has moved an inch prior to the ringing of that bell - their stares locked, chests rising and falling almost in tandem, both finding a similar rhythm and a similar passion as they finally surge forward; unstoppable force and unstoppable force, nobody content to merely sit and wait. In the split-second before they collide, there's a blur of motion and WHUMP! Lavender's boot finds Ace King's gut.
In their last two contests, it's Ace King who's taken the proverbial 'first blood'. Now it's the turn of the Silent Princess, who twists into grappling range, seizing the stumbling Gambler and scooping him into the air, her stare fierce on the crowd as she turns and plants him in the center of the ring with a Michinoku Driver! Toyo Yasahiro is in place to administer the count, and Lavender's hook of the leg is precise, almost cold as she nods to herself.
'This is how it's going to be.'

KICKOUT!
Nobody is surprised, but the crowd explode anyway, as Ace rolls to his feet and Lavender rises smoothly to hers, near enough matching the regality of the Undisputed Champion she once was as she prepares herself to lock up with the United States Champion whose renewed reign she intends to curtail. They lock up, and Ace quickly exerts momentary dominance, sweeping out with an arm wringer that the Silent Princess flips through, dropping low to swipe a leg only for Ace to leap over, land on one foot and lash out with a brisk Full House kick-- that she bridges under!
King spins through the roundhouse, and as Lavender rights herself to face him she finds the man has hit the ropes, stampeding in with a wild slingblade that sweeps her onto her back! The impact is hefty, but she rolls clear before he can follow up, stumbling away into the ropes herself. He pursues, lunges to catch her in the half-second after the rebound--
--but the Silent Princess hooks her arms and falls backwards, raising her legs up and over then using them to propel the Gambler headfirst into the cage wall, the chain links rattling and the crowd roaring in appreciation!
KD: Lavender taking an early lead here - and we can't be too surprised, Ace has already been through one gruelling contest this evening. He has every excuse to be on the back foot in the early innings.
P-Dug: Please! Lavender may be fresh, but the Gambler's had a warm-up; he should be rolling this chick.
Hauling the stunned King out from between the ropes, Lavender hauls him up and over for a butterfly suplex, attempting to cover once more only to get an almost immediate kickout! The roof about blows off the arena, but Ace isn't quick back to his feet, a few spots of blood already dribbling from his forehead as he's assisted there by his scowling, determined opponent. She brings a forearm across his back, then jerks him fully upright, takes a half step back, and goes for a roundhouse kick of her own - only for her foot to scythe through the air. Ace King moves at the last instant, drops low and chop blocks the other leg from under the Silent Princess, fighting for a single-leg Boston Crab!
Lavender is caught, striving toward the ropes with a mighty heave that only prompts the bloodied Gambler to pull back all the harder, dragging her to the middle of the ring! Refusing to yield, she fights back, risking her leg as she turns into the hold and forces her way through it, clamping on a figure four she can't quit get all of, as Ace pre-empts it and starts to twist toward the bottom rope. His hands close, and he's able to drag himself clear to the outside of the ropes, rising against the cage wall as the Silent Princess springs to her feet and strides forward.
P-Dug: These two have such a feel for one another, I get the feeling they could fight all night.
KD: The crowd might like that, but I've got places to be. Someone climb outta that cage already! It's right there!
Ace blocks a forearm, and responds with a European uppercut, only for Lavender to pinwheel through the strike and rush right back in with a spear between the ropes! King's blasted backfirst against the cage, gritting his teeth and firing back with a flurry of forearms to the back. With his opponent trapped, he steadies himself and then dives forward, over the top rope, tumbling overhead and seizing her on the way down with a beautifully modified front flip piledriver! WILD CARD!
Lavender's WRENCHED from betwixt the ropes, into a tidy skullfirst collision with the canvas, but there's so much momentum that Ace can't quite hold on for the pin, and she's flung past his feet, flopping onto her side as he pulls himself up using the ropes, breathing hard and looking toward the top of the cage. The crowd rally behind the Gambler, and with a few brisk, emboldening nods he moves to the wall and begins to climb. Lavender stirs, her hair blocking her view of her opponent as she heaves in a few breaths of her own, and then eases back onto her knees.
Ace is halfway up the cage wall and climbing, a shift in the crowd response causing the veteran to risks a glance over his shoulder just in time to see Lavender running toward the ropes beneath him. She springs and leaps, landing on the top rope ready to rip the Gambler down by the waist - but with her approach scouted, he's able to drop down, seize her by the head, and then kick off from the cage into an Asai DDT! To a mighty bellow of appreciation, King turns Lavender INSIDE OUT! She skids to a stop in the middle of the ring, and he dives on top of her for the count...

KICKOUT!
KD: Two point nine nine nine! The tables have turned, Ace King has found his rhythm, and Lavender almost lost it all right there - could she be coming into this one over-confident? Could the Gambler be at his best two matches deep?
P-Dug: Come on! He's 'the Gambler'! He's getting lucky! But I gotta say, he has my attention.
Ace is in disbelief, the fatigue of the evening weighing on him already as he crawls to the edge of the ring and pulls himself up using the ropes. One arm rests on the cage wall, as with the other he points toward Lavender, shaking his head and then motioning her to stand - to a violent pop from the packed-out Walter Pyramid. The challenger more briskly shakes her own head, dark locks swept away with a hand as she rises as she's bidden, stance wide and clearly groggy but game to the task of meeting the United States champion face-to-face.
He gives her a slow nod, and she merely stares at him. He lunges forward, going for a clothesline that she ducks under, coming up on the other side with a sharp side kick to the jaw - that sends Ace off the ropes. He stumbles around, and she's ready, surging up beneath him, hauling him up and over for a monstrous, emphatic AMITY AFFLICTION!
His spine bounces off the canvas, and he flies free from her grasp - as she did his, mere minutes ago.
Lavender lunges in for the cover, slips and trips, forced to re-orient herself to bundle King up with a frantic desperation, moments after the initial opportunity.

KICKOUT!
P-Dug: OH MY GOD! Ace barely gets the shoulder up, and Lavender may be regretting her decision to go for the pin there. If she'd gotten onto him just a couple of seconds earlier...
KD: Hey, she's taken a lot of blows to the head in the past year. And don't forget what Malone did to her...
Refusing to lose this shift in momentum, Lavender stays on King, hauling him to his feet and softening him up with a pair of forearms before whipping him into the corner. He slams against the turnbuckle, and she follows in at a dash, her hair whipping out behind her before she launches into a beautiful Poetry in Motion! The Gambler starts to fall forward, and she springs right back up, hooking him for a DDT and kicking off the ropes to make it tornado-style, turning the champion inside out and sprawling him out in the center of the ring!
The Silent Princess rolls to her feet, ducks under the ropes, and puts an arm out to the cage wall, sinking her pale fingers through the chain links. She glances upwards. The crowd are roaring, every fan backing Lavender screaming at her to start climbing the cage. Her gaze shifts from the rafters, to King, and she gives a single, slow shake of her head.
KD: I'm telling ya, the girl ain't right.
P-Dug: Or perhaps she just wants to win this the right way, and leave no more doubt!
Ducking back through the ropes, Lavender moves to intercept Ace as he struggles upright. For the second time, her boot lashes out, to catch him in the gut. The Gambler MOVES, an instinctive jolt backwards that sees the blow strike only air, and then he's whirring around to take Lavender's flank, locking her up for an arm drag that she reverses, flinging him down and attempting to lock in an armbar! Both are desperate now, but it's the fighting spirit of King that prevails, and he manages to stack her up with wild overhead blows, scooping the smaller woman up and staggering toward the corner to powerbomb her against the turnbuckle! She sprawls out, and he swiftly hooks her arms through the ropes, before climbing on top-- and keeping on going, using her as a boost to climb the cage!
Lavender stirs, lips pulling to a panicked scowl as she realizes what's happening, HEARS Ace King's hands closing over the top of the cage, feels the pressure as he starts to pull himself up and over. The crowd lose their minds, fully half of them rallying convulsively behind the Gambler, a crashing wave spurring him on to victory - the others, begging Lavender to not let it go, to keep fighting. They both respond, but as Ace gets a foot onto the top of the cage, slings his leg over--
--the Silent Princess remembers what she fought for, what she had in her possession just a couple of months ago. What it meant to her - means to her - and with a frantic cry breaching her throat she pulls herself up in a scramble, grabbing Ace's trailing leg and returning the favor, using HIM as a climbing frame to draw equal. In no time, they're both atop the cage, trading stiff blows to the 'ooh' and 'ahh' of the crowd, who stand utterly divided as to the outcome they desire.
Lavender almost falls from a forearm to the jaw, slumping half off the cage only to rally back with a palm strike that sends Ace slumping in the other direction-- toward the outside, almost granting him a victory she sees coming with wide, wild eyes, grabbing onto the Gambler's skull and yanking him back toward her. His greater weight falls against her, pinning her to the top of the cage - but she manages to secure a waistlock, twisting with all her might...
...until Ace King is hanging upside down, only prevented from falling back into the ring by the Silent Princess, who wears an agonized expression as she gets a leg up onto the cage, unleashing a long, desperate SCREAM as she STANDS TO HER FULL HEIGHT, Ace dangling below her. Precariously balanced, she gets her legs around his trailing, flailing arms--
--and then falls forward.
"HOLY SHIT! HOLY SHIT!"
They're chanting before it's even done happening, as Lavender delivers an absolutely catastrophic Crash Landing from the top of the cage, falling atop the captured, laid-out form of Ace King to a deafening expulsion from the capacity crowd. The entire cage is shaking, the ring ropes bouncing, as both bodies collapse, one beside the other, King face-down and not moving, Lavender twitching as she flops onto her back, eyes glazed as she stares up at the lights.
KD: U-Unbelievable!
P-Dug: BAD! ASS!
"HOLY SHIT! HOLY SHIT!"
Unsurprisingly, it's the Silent Princess who is the first to stir, managing to float over Ace King and make the cover by simply flopping in the opposite direction from her frame-quaking landing. Yasahiro makes the count.

NO!!!
KD: Against all possible odds! Ace King is STILL alive and kicking!
Covered in sweat and his own half-dried blood, exhausted and half-broken, the Gambler rolls out from under the Silent Princess and starts dragging himself toward the cage wall. Lavender looks like she wants to scream in frustration, but instead her mouth just hangs open and she stares at the man who refuses to stay down, sliding to her feet and staggering after him - easily intercepting him before he can pull himself beneath the ropes.
She grabs a handful of hair, pulls him to his feet...
And Ace King erupts into a European uppercut, then a kick to the jaw that sends the Silent Princess sprawling, landing on one knee with her hair across her face, utter shock visible in the moment before her expression disappears from view. Rallying himself with a gasp, and two brisk beats across the breast, the Gambler wastes no more time in lunging toward the fallen former champion, hauling her up and over across the back of his neck, staggering under the weight...
He racks her out, wrenching her torso into submission against his quivering, tired shoulders. The crowd know what's coming, and they're ready to lose their freaking minds as he hauls Lavender up and over--
--and she SLIPS FREE from the Blackjack Bomb! She lands on her feet, staggering, and they lock eyes briefly.
Very briefly, because Lavender's already lunging to secure a grip on Ace King, and pull him into a second AMITY AFFLICTION!
The ring shudders again, as the battered body of the Gambler strikes it. Lavender glances at the top of the cage and shakes her head one last time as she folds forward into the cover, snugly bundling up the champion.

DING DING DING
Chriqui: And your winner, via pinfall, and the NEW EWC United States Champion ... LAVENDER!!!
Ace King is utterly spent, simply continuing to lie there as Lavender falls from on top of him with a strangled sob. The cage door is unlocked, and she starts to push herself upright and stagger towards it, but falls right back to her knees, looking around at the crowd as they outpour their appreciation - for this match, and for all of the others, for everything that's led through one reign and now another, seizing back the title she's fought so hard for. Overcome by emotion, she's crying and trembling as Toyo Yasahiro retrieves the title and straps it around her waist, supporting her around the shoulders before throwing her hand in the air to a fresh surge from the crowd!
KD: Ace King came to play, and he came to win, but Lavender has fought this fight before - and for every answer the Gambler has had, she's found one more. She stumbled at WrestleFest, but she is our United States champion once again, and you'd be wrong to say anything but 'she deserves it'. The Queen reigns, and our Princess is never far behind!
P-Dug: You're a such a brown-noser. Lavender survived this, barely squeaked another victory over a living legend, and you can bet your brown-nosing butt that Ace King isn't done. He'll be back, with new questions for her. She could've squirmed out of that cage way earlier, and she didn't - if she doesn't find a mean streak, sooner or later he's gonna have her number.
Ace’s chest heaves, still reeling from the aftereffects of the steel cage and subsequent adrenaline dump of the main event’s finale. The ExtremeTron lights up, the face of the Undisputed champion can be seen throughout the arena. The crowd gives a heavy dose of boos, and Ace looks to his right and left, expecting an ambush more than anything else. She gives a coy smile, before dropping all pretenses and staring at the camera, but it feels like she and Ace are the only two in the entire arena.
Melody Malone: I knew it’d be you.
The crowd cheers, the anticipation of yet another showdown between Malone and King being worth truly ANY price of admission.
Melody Malone: And you knew it’d be me.
She pauses, adjusting the championship sitting on her shoulder so its in plain view of the camera lens.
Melody Malone: You looked good tonight, I’ll admit it. But I looked better. So I hope you rest up… because you’ve got thirty days Ace. I don’t need the specter of some lingering concussion or any excuses to come up on my way to Stranglemania. See you on St Patricks Day champ.. .oop
She mockingly covers her mouth, but not enough to obscure her delight, watching Ace seethe before she winks to the camera and the ExtremeTron feed cuts away.
