Recent returnee Arlington Catte stands in front of a large EWC logo. The interview set stand unlit, but he has set up his phone to record a moment to share with the world. His impatience is besting him. He wants to fly. Currently, Catte is dressed in jeans and a savage purple T. He has a thin steel blue hoodie overtop of that and a good-hearted grin to greet you with.
“My, oh, my, did I pick the right time to get back to business here on Prime?!!?!! Every brand is just buzzing with energy. The top-of-year locker room inspirational speech game has been on point! Sexy changes to the rulebook, lighting tweaks by the TV crew yet to be unveiled, it is all SO SHINY! It's that brand new Season 25 sheen! The Silver Season! A Season that will feature not only a sweet summer cruise, but will also celebrate us cruiserweights with a Quad Brand PPV: Collision of the Cruiserweights!!!!”
He cannot contain his boyish excitement at the sound of those words coming out of his mouth. He chuckles heartily for a beat before a new thought tightens his focus.
“But, I can’t be staring starry-eyed starward in stark hopes of catching a falling something or other. This crop of new signees means… more work for me… in the BEST of ways. It means that if I want to claim my rung on the ladder, I know who I need to knock off to get UP! I can see myself having a friendly rivalry with Hugo Goodman or doing my best to keep up with my Canadian compatriot Saidie Sharpe! And when I look at guys like Morden Crypt… ”
Divewire crosses his arms and hugs himself like a straight jacket, almost soothing a dip in the temperature; quelling a chill.
“...that is when my nerves really begin to hurt. How do I connect with this character outside the ring? How do I make solid connections against this guy inside the ring? And the most important question of them all: who would I be if I were faced with stepping into the ring against a superstar like Morden Crypt? Or any of these competitors? Or even all of them at the same time?!??”
His rubs his neck with one hand and rubs his back awkwardly with the other. His then runs both hands through his hair and throws them down to his sides, taking a fighting stance and looking confidently into the camera lens.
“I really wanted a match at Clash in LA. I ain’t booked, but that don’t mean I ain’t comin’. I haven’t discussed my 6ix favourite sushi bars with Saidie! I haven’t yet shaken hands with The Patron Saint of Tremé! I haven’t stood side-by-side with the SEVEN-FOOT-TWO, 320-POUND harbinger of Hell… Modern Crypt. And I want to.”
He shudders at his own words, but then firms up and repeats sternly…
“I WANT TO! I wanna know who I am when I am standing side by side with the best damned competition this business has to offer! The EWC terrifies me! Deep waters. Sick skills kill still. Prime is surely a shiver of sharks. I don’t expect it to be easy.”
Divewire turns to face the dimly lit EWC logo behind him. With his back to camera, he turns his head to one side with both hands on his hips. With a smile…
“Whoever bites, I expect you in your Prime.”
Fade to black.
