The fans in the arena cheer loudly as fireworks emit from the stage area! The explosions continue to rock the arena repeatedly, causing the fans to cheer with each burst. The explosions finally come to an end just short of the entrance area, finishing off with a finale consisting of a smokey display. As the fans continue to cheer, the theme song for Monday Night Brawl starts to play! The television feed promptly switches to the announcer's booth.
Sitting at the announcer's booth is Joey Aiello and Jeremy Piven. Sitting with a smile upon his face, Joey looks at the camera, a dark brown shirt upon his torso that reads "BRAWL".
Joey Aiello: Hello and welcome to another exciting evening of Monday Night Brawl. Tonight, we have a jam packed card to deal with as the best of the best in the EWC, square off for ring supremacy as we prepare for Stranglemania X!
Jeremy Piven: That's right. this new era of the EWC has proven to be a top ranked set of talent, and each week they have dazzled like we have not seen in years. This Era of.. X.. has been completely successful.
Joey Aiello: Last week, the ratings finally slipped a bit. Some feel this is due in part to the absence of the General Manager, Xplode, on live programming. This could very well be true but that should change tonight.. as X has returned. The question is, where has he been? There have been rumors that the General Manager has embarked on a talent search across the globe. That is the sign of a true businessman.
Jeremy Piven: There also have been rumors of discontent between the President and the General Manager as well. In the past, the two have been very close and have functioned like a well oiled machine. With Xplode's recent push for a more hardcore styled promotion, this has sent shock waves into the front office as sponsors across the board have expressed their concern for the product that they are supporting. Regardless, no one can argue with the surge in popularity of the EWC under Xplode's watch though.
The lights dim down... "I stand alone" by Godsmack begins to play. The crowd knows instantly who is about to appear on the rampway as they stand up and cheer loudly!
Joey Aiello: And here he is.. the General Manager of the EWC, Xplode. Tonight, he is expected to make a major announcement. I can't wait to hear what he has to say.
Stepping out un to the stage, Xplode nods his head. He is dressed in sharp suit and tie. Walking down the rampway, he stops at ringside and looks around the arena as the fans reach out or bow in his direction in a sign of respect. Stepping into the ring, he accepts a microphone and waits for the fans to calm down before speaking.
Xplode: I never get tired of hearing all of you scream my name. Each time I step out here, you all remind me as to why I do what I do in this ring. I accept that respect, and I offer it back.
The fans continue to cheer loudly as Xplode nods his head in return. Signs of "The ERA OF X" wave behind him.
Xplode: The Era of X.. it has a damn ring to it. You know, when I stepped into this ring as the General Manager for the first time, I never would have guessed that the moves that I have made would have made the impact that they have. To see this company rise out from the flames and reach the pinnacle of sports entertainment once again like it has in the past.. it's a good thing for us all. Let's give credit where credit is due though. None of this would have been possible without the support of President Mac. He is the heart of this company no matter how much I flip this.. I respect that. Though we both have our way of running the business, one thing that we both can agree on is that the EWC should be the number one promotion in the world. We will achieve this... no matter the cost.
The fans begin cheering once more as Xplode paces the ring.
Joey Aiello: WOW! Xplode just gave credit to President Mac?! Perhaps those rumors were just... rumors?
Xplode waits for the applause to die down before speaking once more.
Xplode: Over the last few weeks, I have searched high and low for the newest talent in the business. I have been looking for the next big thing and I believe that I may have found it. The world has seen enough of the cookie cutter types of competitors. Sure, those types are the ones who laid the foundation for this business, and I recognize that. To truly move forward though, I knew that the EWC needed something fresh. We needed a man who was not afraid to shake the status quo. I needed a person who would represent my vision for this company, and after looking everywhere-
The fans stand up at the video screen that is suspended above the entrance area. With his face in full view, a bearded man laughs as he interrupts Xplode in mid-sentence.
Man: OH MIGHTY XPLODE.... the ERA OF X HAS TRULY BEGUN! (Laughing) For so long, I have yearned to rise to the top! I was lost.. and now I have been found! Your words are hypnotizing to me. I must say, that while you were so right about a great many things that you have just said, there was one glaring fault in what you have just expressed.
Xplode: You better have a damn good reason for interrupting me out here. Who in the hell are you?
Brett Black leans into the screen for a close up of his face.
Man: I.. am Brett Black. The people behind me are my family. You see, you have a keen eye, and that is why you must trust me. Understand that I am a man of my word, of integrity, OF FAITH! LOYALTY IS MY STRONGEST TRAIT!
Xplode: Where are you going with this?
Brett Black: WHERE I AM GOING... is that you need not thank President Mac for anything, Mr. X. The sweet grapes of success has been shared to us solely by you.. and you alone.. with the EWC. Everything that it is in it's current form, is due in part to you. Hardcore at it's heart is the birth of professional wrestling. IT'S PUREST FORM OF AGGRESSION IS A NECTAR THAT THIS INDUSTRY NEEDS TO BREATHE!! (laughing) You understand this to be true, and I stand by you. No, from this day on, you will be a member of my family. You will be protected. Your very word will be carried out with SWIFT AND POOOOOOOWWWWEEEEERFUL FEROCITY, MY FRIEND! For I am the weapon of war that you will use to rebuild the EWC as we know it.
The fans begin to stir and chant "EWC" repeatedly as Xplode rubs his chin. He has a look of confusion for a time, until a small smirk appears upon his face.
Xplode: You talk a big game. Backing it up is an entirely different matter. I don't hand out my trust that easily. You will get your chance to prove all of this, next week.
Brett Black: Oh Mister X... a chance is all that I need. Allow me to step into that ring, and you will witness the rebirth of the EWC as you and I desire. We shall speak again...
Xplode looks slightly interested in his new "friend" as the video screen suddenly cuts to static. The fans begin to chant "EWC" repeatedly as Xplode drops the microphone and exits the ring.
Joey Aiello: I don't think that was the man that Xplode intended on introducing tonight.
Jeremy Piven: No.. but he may be the man that Xplode needs. We will return after these messages with the first match of the night!
