Most people would think that winning a championship match would be just cause for big fanfare, that walking out of Stadio Olimpico with the International Championship was something of fanfare and excellence. Winning this title on my shoulder was very important to me. It symbolizes a new beginning, a new chapter in my life, but all that meant was that there were going to be more gum-flapping gerbils backstage trying to focus to take me out. But that's not the problem. Everybody else was out and about getting the liquor and food and festivities sorted while a lowly cameraman watched me pack my shit. I look up.
"By any means necessary always meant putting up a road block in the fatal four-way ladder match and expecting Metal Black to get past it. Rolling those Endless turds into the ring, constantly aiding her opponents back in as well, and putting a stamp on the envelope by way of chair shot to the face? Yeah, that wasn't done to stop her. I never had any interest in making sure anybody else walked away with that title. That's just not the business I'm in. King Flip has always and will always look out for number one. As will the crew because, whether I'm being cheered or booed, the only thing that matters to me is the record book. The victory or the loss. And walking out as the International Championship's rightful owner is a very dear memory to me. Always will be."
I had already taken a shower and gotten back into my bespoke suit from earlier on in the week. I'm a rich man, but I'm not so Goddamn rich that I can't wear a suit more than once in a week if the damn thing's still clean. That's just being logical. I toss the title over my shoulder and lift the Underground Championship with a smile. The ol' bastard did its job. It made its mark. Placing it into the bag last and zipping it closed before getting that hefty strap over my other shoulder, my eyes meet the viewfinder once again.
"The problem becomes something rather simple, really. We move on from tonight and we look into the future. What challenges does it bring? What does King Flip's future hold? Brilliance. Excellence. Commitment. I won this title out there without even breaking much of a sweat, kids, and daddy don't plan on sweatin' too much to keep it. Just know that you're looking at a fighting champion. Not just one that turns up the heat when its time for the big match. Not just one that's hard to beat. Instead, I'm going to be the type of champion you read in the history books that showcased the efforts of a winner both in and out of the ring. Something that the stains of this business don't know much about. And this isn't some Make-A-Wish commercial, this isn't a publicity stunt. I speak of these things... I live the way I live... because, after everything -- hell, BEFORE everything -- I've always been better than you."
I walk out of the locker room. Cameras flash as soon as we enter the hallway, but we'll let the scene fade here for now. All hail that which is to be continued.
