Shelley Silver shivered a little as she stood on a hilltop, bundled up. She looked out onto the horizon to see Congdon Castle. She was far enough away to not be seen, but she was sure that they somehow knew that she was there. It wasn't too cold at forty degrees, but the light, blowing snow made it feel a tad colder.
She found it hard to believe that nothing had happened while she was at home the entire time that Living Dead Karl was holding a vendetta against her, when she lived just a little over a hundred miles away from them. Thankfully, that was all over now. At least, it seemed to be.
After the events on Friday night, which frankly, she wasn't mentally prepared for, Shelley decided that it was time to pause and reflect before moving on. Now that she had her first big match of the year behind her, she could think about other things. Above all other things, there was one thing on her mind. The tag team main event just around the corner on the next BRAWL.
Her ex, Shawn Cage, had been paired off with her former arch nemesis, Living Dead Karl. This was a tryout match for the newly formed team of King Flip and Nurse Harlow Kinsley. Kinsley was one of LDK’s sidekicks. She wasn't quite sure how she felt about her… Well, she wasn't quite sure what Flip was to her… Teaming with a member of The Endless Walk.
Shelley looked to her right and tilted her head up to look her companion in the eyes.
Shelley: Are you sure that you want to team up with her? I mean… how do you know that you can trust her?
Flip: God's honest truth? I've been in this business too long to trust any of these cocksuckers too much. But I'm not really that worried about Kinsley. She's hungry like me, she wants that recognition.
Flavor/description text. Something about Flip smiling before he speaks again.
Flip: What... are you worried about me? That's sweet of you.
Shelley looked down, blushing a little. She may not have looked at Flip in a romantic sense before, but after Shawn Cage had returned and caused all of the drama, she wasn't quite sure that she still felt the same.
Shelley: Are you forgetting what she did to me at Wrestlefest?! That was my rematch. I have to go back down to the bottom now. Because of her and that bitch, Brenda Vixen, I may never get my title back. I’m probably one of the worst champions ever.
Shelley sighed, shaking her head.
Shelley: What? Am I not allowed to worry about you because I was manipulated into turning you down?
Shelley knew that she had opened a can of words with that statement, but once the words had escaped her lips, it was too late.
Flip paused but otherwise appeared unfettered by the statement one way or the other.
Flip: I can understand where you're coming from, but look at it from my perspective for a second. Its not like there are a lot of competent tag partners to choose from. Xplode, Brett, Kruze, Karl... Jesus, there'd be a shorter list stating who'd actually say yes. Even shorter is the list of wrestlers I'd approach on the 'yes' list. It had to be a BRAWL player given the restrictions upper management is placing on cross-branding. Who was I supposed to approach, Corey X? Flash Davis? No offense to those guys, but I'm doing it to win.
Flip sits down next to Shelley, placing an arm over her shoulders.
Flip: I know it's weird. I know it's sudden. But Kinsley... she was just doing what she needed to do to make sure her side of the coin got an advantage. And I know that means she put you in a fair amount of pain, but what would you rather have? A woman that level of dedication with you... or against you?
Flip squeezes her shoulders.
Flip: Besides, I don't think anybody in that castle is in any better shape or position after 'Fest either. But I'll tell you what. If I walk out after facing "Queen" Davidson with the Fight title still around my waist, I'll give you a shot at the gold. As my way of thanking you for being cool about me and Harlow. How's that?
Shelley chuckled, shaking her head. Who was she to talk, really? She wanted nothing more than to be a highly respected singles competitor, yet she had aligned herself with Project: CHAOS. She wasn't sure if she even liked one of her stablemates. She just saw potential in their half-assed efforts to force their way to the top of the company, and wanted to help them fulfill that potential properly.
Shelley: I... I do get it, Flip. It's not even what she did, or who she aligns herself with. It's her. She is a dangerous person. Well, that is if she even is human. She could easily snap and turn on you at any given moment.
Shelley sighed, placing a hand on Flip's.
Shelley: I don't know why, but I care about what happens to you. Maybe it's because I think that you could be good for a ride or two.
She sighed, looking off into the distance once again.
Flip: I'll go ahead and avoid the blatant sexual innuendo I could go for and just say thanks, Shelley. But I should get going if I'm going to make it to BRAWL via limo.
Flip gets up, but not before giving a peck of a kiss to the side of Shelley's head. He offers a hand to help her up.
Flip: Let's get out of here.
Shelley nodded as she stood up.
Shelley: I’d say good luck and be careful, but I’ll save that until I see you off for the match.
