We are in a small, almost claustrophobic, bar. There isn’t a friendly atmosphere in the place. The air is heavy and practically unbreathable, thanks to the immense quantity of dust that is hovering around and that combines itself with the smell of cigar smoke that comes from the three men that are in the counter of the establishment. Besides that, the only source of light in the bar comes from a lightbulb that’s hanging from the ceiling right in the center of the place.
It’s a sinister spot, to say the least. Not the kind of spot in where you would think that you would find a wealthy man like Carlos Vitória. But there he is, sitting at one of the two tables that the bar has, drinking a beer directly from the bottle like if he’s part of the working-class, even though he is finely dressed as ever.
Stranger even, a young woman enters the bar, gathering all the attention from the clients that are at the counter and from the stablishment’s owner, who drewl at her sight. That young woman is Kimi Smalls, who covers her nose after smelling the stench that is in the air. She quickly locates Vitória and walks in his direction.
Vitória (in a calm way): Miss Smalls, please seat, be my guest.
Kimi Smalls is with a suspicious look on her face, but she attends Vitória’s request and seats.
Vitória: Is it ok if I call you Miss Smalls? Or would you prefer if I call you Miss Hunter?
Kimi seems to be a little disgusted after she hears her husband’s surname.
Kimi: Actually, my last name is Suntherland.
Vitória seems intrigued with the information, but he doesn't say a thing about it.
Vitória: I’m glad that you found our little meeting point. It’s not that easy to find this establishment, I was afraid that you could get lost.
Kimi doesn’t respond immediately, she looks around her for a bit. The other men in the bar are still staring at her and drewling.
Kimi: It wasn’t easy, but I managed. I would never thought that you would attend a place like this.
Vitória smiles, right before he takes a sip of his beer.
Vitória: My family has a background of poverty, Miss Suntherland. My father built a empire out of nothing. Sometimes I enjoy getting in touch with the family's roots. Besides, I had to choose a discreet meeting point, where I knew that we weren’t be seen. Discretion is key if want to close any business deal.
Kimi: I see…
Vitória: I’m happy to see that you decided to meet with me. I hope that your next decision pleases me too.
Kimi doesn’t answer, she just stares at Vitória with a vague gaze.
Vitória: I’m going to be straightforward, Miss Suntherland. As I already made clear, I’m interested in being your manager. I believe that we both can benefit from a business relationship. Of course that every manager likes to work with a client with qualities such as yours and not only me, but also Atlas and Max, who you may not know but is the man who’s been training Atlas for the last year and a half or so, would love to have as…let’s call it a sister in arms. As you know, the Pro-Wrestling World is highly competitive and unpredictable, so it is of the upmost importance to have the right people by your side, people as gifted as you.
Kimi remains silent. Her expression doesn’t change.
Vitória: But more important than what you can offer us, I believe that it is what we can offer you. And what we can offer you, most of all, is an absolute professional working environment that will help you being one hundred percent focused in what matters the most, that is your carreer, and reach your full potential. I think that you won’t disagree with me if I say that certain episodes of your personal life have been affecting your performance inside of the ring in a fairly negative way. That’s understable, of course, principally because you’re part of an environment as toxic as the Park Hunter family. But I could help you put all of that behind your back, believe me.
Kimi seems to be tempted to talk, but she still doesn’t do it.
Vitória: That being said, whatever your final decision in all of this is, I’m still a business man and a cautious one. If you would to join me and my work group you will have to give me some kind of a guarantee. You see, I don’t forget who’s the man with who you share your life with and that not that time ago you were strongly criticizing me on social media. Fortunately, FSW’s next Main Event is the perfect opportunity for you to convince about the honesty of your intentions. Rest assured, Miss Smalls, obviously I won’t help your husband as the guest refere. I’ll either help you get the win or act as a fair referee, depending of that decision that you take concerning our business society and the way you want me to act in the match. As I said before, your voice matters. But if you really want this to happen, Miss Smalls…then you don’t have to beat Jason Park Hunter, no…
Vitória drinks one more big sip of his beer.
Vitória (in a sadistic tone of voice): You have got to hurt him, Miss Suntherland, you have got to hurt him bad.
The Brazilian quickly changes his posture, as all of the sudden he is smiling.
Vitória: Only that way will you convince me that I can truly trust you and that this right here isn’t some kind of an attempt of na inside job. This is all that I have got to say, you now know what I can offer you and what my conditions are. Now it’s your turn. You may not give me an answer right now. I will give you time to think. But at the Main Event of the next FSW show, you will have to give me your answer. And you may do it simply by your actions, because even though I am a man of the spoken word, I strongly believe in that old saying that says that actions speak louder than words.
Carlos leans back on his chair.
Vitória: Now, do you want to give me some feedback or let’s say that this meeting is done?
