The camera shows a graveyard. There we see a single cloaked man at the entrance if the graveyard. The man seems to be lingering at the entrance. A rather large bag is in the ground next to him. Finally he starts to walk through the cemetery with the bag in tow. The camera follows him in his trek. The man does not look at any grave in particular. Instead he finds a plot of land. The land seems to be well maintained, but away from all the other graves and tombstones. The man then starts to pull out a shovel from the bag. The man then starts to digging into the plot of land that he had found appealing. A voice that is familiar speaks, though the only figure is the man from in front of the graveyard.
"When I was a child, I collected comic books. I wouldn't describe myself as a comic book nerd. Rather a fan of the stories. It was as if these comic books were modern day Greek mythology. Tales of a hero trying to save a damsel in distress and the innocents from a monster or a evil genius. Oh as a child how these comics filled me with joy and excitement for hours and hours."
The audience does not see who is speaking, rather just the man digging the grave. The man continues to dig and dig. Not stopping to get water or anything else. Rather he just continues to dig and dig. He then creates a significant hole in the ground and slams the shovel into the ground. The man, essentially a gravedigger at this point, measures the hole then shakes his head. He picks up the shovel again and makes some corrections to the hole.
"Batman and Superman were my favorite Heroes. As a kid, I collected every single Batman and Superman comic I could find. Still engrossed with the topic. These were my two heroes. Of course they were fictional. I knew they weren't real, but they were what I aspired to be. Truth, Justice, and the American way. That was all I wanted to be. I wanted to be a hero."
The man that had been digging into the plot of land finally stops. He nods in approval of what he has created. The man then reaches into his duffle bag that he has brought to the spot. He pulls out what appears to be comic books. He then throws copious amounts of the comics into the pit. He even rips up a few and throws the, into the hole that he had dug.
"But then I read a comic book, where Superman died. The great hero of my childhood dead. Yes, it was fiction, but it struck me. For days and weeks, the death of Superman haunted me. How could they just kill off the world's greatest superhero without a care in the world. Was there no consideration for the repercussions that the death of Superman could cause? But it was through the death of Superman that I realized something: there are no heroes."
The figure throws some action figures into the pit. Finally he pulls out some of the merchandise of the biggest faces from the EWC. That goes into the pit as well. The figure just continues to pull stuff out and throw it into the pit. Until the bag is empty except for a can which the he figure puts next to the hole.
"The greatest myth that you have been told EWC fans, is that you have heroes. There are people out there that have convinced you that they are perfect. Flawless and infallible. That given the choice they will always take the high road. They are all liars. They are not heroes, rather they are wolves in sheets clothing. They lure you innocent in pretending like they are your heroes. In reality they are spreading the virus that has affected the EWC for long."
The figure picks up the can and pours the contents over the pit. The figure then takes a match and throws it in the pit. The contents of the hole/pit are set on fire. The fire starts to rage inside the pit/hole that the figure had created. The same figure turns around and it is reveled that the figure was Cyrus McCann in full mask.
"Do not be fooled by those false prophets masquerading as heroes. The true Salvation is coming. Embrace it."
End
