I hope you find what you’re fighting for
I am happier when I hurt you
Your medicine is the coldest war
I am happier when I hurt you
Alexandra found herself going out to the Colonial Life Arena right as the sun was going down. She wasn’t normally the type to want to destroy people she called ‘Friends’, but it looked like this time she was going to have to do just that. He wanted to throw out challenges, fine. She’d answer the challenge and bring him hell every chance she got. He knew her, he knew what she would do and so for him to just throw out her ‘earning it’ just made her want to do it even more. Originally Phoenix Winterborn had not been her target, he wasn’t going to be the one she went after, but now, she wanted it. She wanted to remind him that she wasn’t just some girl who would cower in front of the so called “Great Phoenix Winterborn”. She would make it hurt she would spill his blood and when she finally did beat him, it would be a moment she would remember forever. One of her friends walked up and took out her camera and she nodded, noting that she would need to address this now, before shit got too far out of hand, not that it would matter to her, if Phoenix wanted a fight, he could get one.
“Winterborn, you seem to think that you are talking to the same girl that I used to be when we worked in the same companies. The saddest part of all this is that you are sorely mistaken. There’s nothing about me that’s the same. Sure, I love being the center of attention, who wouldn’t. You used to get so frustrated and force yourself into things, just to get the eye of someone who was better than you in every way. You took this long to win a title here and for what? To turn around and lose it to a short King like Jamie. You see, the difference between us Phoenix is this, you will always be second best. Especially now that I’m here. You see, at first, I had considered leaving you alone, letting you enjoy your title reign. But now, no. That’s not going to be the case.”
She paused for a moment, thinking about what she was going to say to him next. This wasn’t going to be a quick one and done. Every time Phoenix was stepping into that ring, she was going to be there. A thorn in his side. She would see to it that he suffered as much as possible while he defended his title. If he wanted to throw out challenges, he would find out quickly that she is more than willing to give him that challenge. The sun had gone down and she took a deep breath. Nighttime, when most people had gone in for the night, or prepared to head to bed, she smirked, looking at the arena
You just keep on building the tension
I wanna escalate out of this stasis
But you just keep on building the tension
I wanna escalate into the grave
She raised an arm up, pointing at the building as she looked into the camera. She let out a soft laugh. She knew that in just a few days, he would be wrestling Jamie Love for the ownership of the HBO title. She took a moment before speaking, just letting it soak in. He knew what it meant. He knew her better than most people did. There were a few who knew her the same way Phoenix did, but those who knew of her, knew that she accepted challenges, no matter who they came from, including her friends. She took this moment to continue to speak.
“You see, you took something that could have been a wonderful reunion and turned it into something that it wasn’t. You could have said thanks or damn good to see you. Instead, you said if I wanted your title, I had to earn it. Oh Phoenix, you should know better by now. You really do have a tiny little bird brain in that head of yours, don’t you? You chose to take this path and I only hope that you are ready for the long, painful, bloody road trip to hell that I plan to take you on. I’m not going to come at this friendly, the time for friends has passed Phoenix. No. Now you are going to see the full extent of what I can do and what limits I will push when it comes to getting what I want. You think that you are above it all, but you aren’t. You’ll see that soon enough and when it hits you, it’s going to burn hotter than the sun, and you’ll be left out in the cold of the night."
She walked towards the doors of the arena, moving to sit on the steps, taking a few moments to soak in all that was happening in the moment. She had gone to extend a hand to an old friend, to be snubbed by the sarcastic egomaniac he had become of recent times. Phoenix had never been that kind of guy, at least not to her. But now, it gave her the fire she needed to see to it that he had to work twice as hard for his championship reign, cause yes, now he did have a target on his back, a big one, and she was aiming at it. No matter who stood in her path, they would fall at her feet.
So hold me to the grave
that’s where you carved my name
I hope you find what you’re fighting for
I am happier when I hurt you
She knew the perfect way to end this, the way it started. They had been friends once upon a time and just like every fairytale, there always had to be a villain, and she was more than ready and capable to take that role on. It was clear he needed someone to hate, why not her. She pulled out her phone and looked at it, smirking at the message she had just received before placing it back into her pocket and continuing to speak. She stood and walked down the steps towards the camera as she spoke.
“So you said if I want your title earn it. Oh I’ll earn it alright, and if our Short King Jamie, doesn’t take that title from you in just two days time.. then rest assured that your days as champion are numbered Phoenix, and every time you defend it, I’ll be there. Ready to make you suffer for your comments. And when my time comes, if you are still holding that title, I promise you this.. you and I will dance for it and when the dust settles, mingled with our blood, you’ll look up at me from on your knees, as I take it all away from you, and you will call me Your Majesty..”
She took the last step down and walked off the camera as the image of her fades from view into the dark of the night.
I have learned to love the embrace
In this mutually assured destruction
It’s the crux
Of the coldest war…
I am happier when I hurt you
