Oshikosh, Wisconsin – April 19th 2020
In the main office in the back of the arena, Marshall Evans and Hayley Kushnir sat at a table playing a game of cards. Emma Louise stood behind them. She handed Marshall a black mug with the Prime logo. He nodded a thank you and took a sip. Hayley was handed a blue mug with the same logo.
“Thank you Em. The show looking good?”
“Yeah. Jordan’s complaining of a bad ankle but he should be OK. Everyone else is good to go.”
“Good, good.”
A knock at the door. A security officer opens the door and enters the room.
“This arrived for Emma Louise.”
“To me! Thank you Tommy.”
Tommy hands a letter to Emma Louise who rips it open. She unfolds the paper and reads it. A second later she drops it to the ground and steps back.
Hayley lifts the paper.
Emma backs into the corner. Tears stream down her face in fear and her head swivels looking from one side to the other
Hayley runs to Emma and wraps her arms around her.
“Em, Em. It’s OK.”
“Exactly. It’s probably some crank. Some obsessed lunatic that sent the note for kicks but doesn’t follow it up.”
“THAT’S a GREAT help!”
“What I mean is, it’s probably done to scare you and nothing more. To be on the safe side, I’ll have Tommy in here with you the whole night. He will not leave your side. If need be, he’ll accompany you until you’re at your own front door.”
“I’ll call the local police and pass it onto them. Maybe they’ll have some CSI way of finding whomever sent it. While they get here, I’ll have the rest of security do a sweep of the place.”
“If it’s alright with you, I wanna go home during the show. I’ll take Tommy while the show’s in progress.”
“How so?”
“Crank, fake or real, I don’t really feel that comfortable being here if there’s someone out there willing to send this....”
She holds up the letter.
“.... If I go now, there’s a risk he’s watching. If I go at the end of the show, same risk. If I go during, maybe I can out fox him.”
“Fair enough. Show starts in ten minutes. When are you thinking?”
“I’ve read and re-read the run sheet and there’s a Southern Express seggie between matches two and three. I’ll go during that.”
“Marsh and I need to head to the Mac Position. We’ll send Tommy in. Call me whenever. Let me know you’re at the airport. Let me know you’re home.”
“I will, thank you for this.”
Both Marshall and Hayley hug Emma before they leave the office. The door opens and Tommy steps in. He stands at the door.
