Time: Late afternoon
Location: "Yorozuya Tomo-Chan"( Lit. Tomo's House of 1000 businesses), or simply, "Odd Jobs", Japan
After long days of travel and celebrating Shinijoshi’s major winnings at Stranglemania, Sonya, Aiya, and Narumi returned to Japan to meet with Emiko and Megumi at the “Odd Jobs” home base. It was a quaint little place, but big with energy and a family-friendly atmosphere supporting anyone needing their services. Today was particularly busy, as Megumi had planned a party for the Shinijoshi’s successful return. Serving as a greeter, a polite dark haired young woman invited the Shinijoshi inside the business. They were met inside by Megumi Okita(maiden name Sengoku), her husband Ryohei Okita, and her mentor in a leg cast with crutches Tomokazu Chiba. They celebrated throughout the afternoon until Megumi stopped snacking on her favourite sukonbu snacks to blurt out she was retiring, explaining her mentor’s injury, and informing them she’d be taking over operations of Odd Job’s to support people in need and stay closer to her family.
Narrator: The news of the Best Girl with the Golden Soul’s retirement came as a shock and hit her Shinijoshi friends like a brick into momentary silence. The Onihime’s body shook in denial and she almost got up to protest the other half of the Senshi’s declaration, but stopped herself and sat back in her seat while the Headhuntress comforted her afterwards. Yes, there was much they had planned with Megumi that was hard to let go of, but for these Shinijoshi during their most prosperous time, it would not be fitting to be negative after all the time they’ve spent with the most positive member of their faction who always kept smiles on their faces and the EWC’s.
Megumi kept digging into her food and laughing while speaking to them and the customers at the party until her infectious nature overcame the rest of Shinijoshi who smiled back at her. Megumi then invited the polite dark-haired greeter from earlier to sit with them, surprising the young girl to break her polite shtick with a signature physical mannerism that clues the rest of the Shinijoshi that it was Emiko Okita under a new look. They crack up over this change and how they hadn't noticed her earlier as Megumi teases them for their lack of awareness.
Narrator: It became a celebration that they ever got to go on this journey and be together in the first place. It started with the Senshi, at a time when Narumi was merely an awkward eccentric in her own world she met Megumi who brought her out of her shell. The pair instantly clicked and through their hijinks and fun became two warriors who did their best to better themselves through Megumi’s idea of “The Self-improvement Club” while bringing a smile to each other and eventually their fans. Their group then expanded to the rest of Shinijoshi as they tried to become the biggest and best they could be, and now their efforts have taken them to the very top of the EWC. Megumi blessed them with the energy to begin their journey and gifted them her kin as a pupil in her departure.
Megumi stands up and goes to a table near a wall. The wall has her “El Grande Padre” wanted poster stuck to it and at the table her “Follow your Dreams, Best Friend" championship from the Senshi of the Blade days. She takes her giant pole & Shinijoshi flag she used to bring to the ring that was leaning on the table today. Megumi gives the pole flag to her best friend Narumi Tsutsumi and her sister-in-law Emiko Okita, and tells them both to keep the best girl golden soul spirit going however they can. Narumi gives her a resolute nod while Emiko breaks away to hug Megumi.
Narrator: While she may have departed in person, the spirit of the Golden Soul will always remain with those she influenced.
Emiko and Megumi end their embrace. Narumi and Megumi exchange one last glance as Megumi sends the emotional kouhai to Narumi, who comforts the distressed protege with the flag banner wrapping around them. Megumi then gives all of Shinijoshi one last message as they depart, pointing her wooden sword forward, repeating what she always had to keep her friends going forward, “Fight On!”
