NEXTGEN EPISODE 006 EXTENSIVE RECAP
MAY 25TH 2023
Welcome to the extensive recap of EWC's NextGen episode 6 - the first official show of 2023! We're live in Los Angeles California, coming off of a surprise showing at Stranglemania in Peru and the LA crowd is ready to see some of their new favorites in action! Our new GM Summer Johnston makes her way out to the ring first, introducing herself before she introduces the new ring announcer, Evelyn Dominguez. Evelyn then takes the reins, introducing the new backstage interviewer Samantha Lyric before she welcomes out former Prime commentary team - Hayley Kushnir and Marshall Evans! The 4500+ people in the audience go crazy seeing the former Sunday night team in person as they take their respective spots at ringside.
Kushnir: Marshall, it is SO good to be back behind the desk!
Evans: You can say that again Hayley. It's been too long for me and by the sound of it, the rest of the EWC Nation!
Kushnir: We got a chance to see the likes of Viper and Eddy Maverick picking up wins on the Stranglemania pre-show, while Brandon Abstract went to a time limit draw with El Gran Azul. You've gotta think he'll be looking to make a statement here tonight.
Evans: We'll see everyone from Stranglemania making a return tonight, plus the debut of Maximiliano Menendes-Mendoza and returning NextGen faces like Alexander Devin, Donny J, and more!
The bell sounds to kick off the show before both Donny J and Viper make their way to the ring to their respective entrances. Viper leaves her snake ringside on the table, causing an audible yelp from Hayley before the match is underway. Donny J gets an early upper hand, using his slight height and weight advantage to batter Viper back into the corner with a flurry of forearms. He goes to whip her across the ring to the opposite corner but Viper reverses and sends Donny into the corner instead. Viper piles on the offense, smashing forearms into Donny before she climbs up onto the second rope and dives off with a Meteora. She hooks the leg but only gets a 2 count. She scrambles back to her feet, trying to get a cobra clutch applied but Donny fights back before she can secure it in too tightly, flailing and gaining the official's attention before he jerks his leg back and mule kicks Viper right in the knee. She breaks the hold, dropping to a knee and Donny rakes his hands down her back as Viper yells out in pain. Donny attempts to pin but gets only a 2 count before Viper kicks out. He pulls her to her feet and goes for a clothesline. Viper ducks it, throwing her arm out to catch him around the neck and drag him down toward her knee before she twists and plants him into the mat with the poison kiss! Donny J is seeing stars and Viper picks up the first victory tonight via pinfall.
Kushnir: Get that thing away from me!
Evans: Unorthodox in every sense of the word, but Viper managed to... snake a victory out of Donny J tonight.
Kushnir: I missed the booth... I did not miss the puns.
Evans: Donny J put up a heck of a fight tonight, but that's behind us as we're about to witness two new NextGen stars making their debuts tonight!
In our second bout of the night, we start off with Maximiliano Menedes-Mendoza coming out to a quasi-hometown pop from the Los Angeles crowd. He's followed by his opponent, Eddy Maverick who rightfully receives a much more luke warm reception as he unveils his faux fur speedo. The match is quickly underway as Max unleashes on Eddy right out of the gate. A pair of arm drags disorients Eddy, and Max follows up with a superkick that echoes through the auditorium. Eddy's head snaps back, but he brings his chin back down and looks at Max with a crazed expression on his face. Max's eyes widen and he grabs Eddy's arm, sending him toward the ropes before leaping up to hit a dropkick. Eddy grabs the ropes though, preventing the rebound as Max hits the mat with a thud. Eddy jumps on the opportunity for his own offense, grabbing Max before flinging him up for a suplex. Max crashes hard and Eddy goes for a pin but only gets a 1 count. The Wild Mage is back to his feet, pulling up Max for a side slam before he slaps his own chest and grabs Max a third time. He lifts Max high into the air with Levitate, his delayed vertical suplex as both men come crashing back down to the mat. Eddy throws an arm over Max but its just a 2 count as Max kicks out yet again. Both men stagger to their feet, as Eddy grabs Max for yet another suplex. Max blocks this attempt however, countering with his own dragon suplex! Eddy is down and Max goes to the outside, making a run around the ring before jumping up and rolling into the ring - leaping into a cutter he calls the Rolling Thunder Stunner! Max covers, but somehow Eddy still kicks out! Max motions out to the crowd, picking Eddy up and hitting the Maximizer (Wing Clipper) and getting the final 1,2,3 much to the hometown crowd's delight.
Evans: A hard earned victory here tonight by Maximiliano Menendes-Mendoza!
Kushnir: You could just say Max..
Evans: Eddy Maverick was in it until the very end, but some nights just aren't your night. Eddy's still got a win over DOUG in a Barrel though! So credit where it's deserved. Don't roll anywhere folks, our third match is coming in hot! Take it away Evelyn!
We're back in the ring, Alexander Devin and Brandon Abstract both ready to tie up as the bell sounds. Both men start out slow, sizing each other up before Devin makes the first move. He feints walking away from the combat all together, just to come spinning back around to Abstract with a discus punch. Abstract stumbles back, and Devin follows it up with a running clothesline that sends Brandon out of the ring. Devin follows behind, looking to send another punch Brandon's way. Brandon ducks out of the way, and Devin stumbles with his own momentum. Abstract capitalizes on this, hitting a superkick for good measure that sends Devin colliding with the ring steps. Abstract gets back into the ring as the official begins to count with Alexander on the outside. H reaches 5 before Devin rolls into the ring to break the count, and Abstract hits a running knee strike. He hooks the leg but only gets a 2 count. He pulls Alexander toward the middle of the ring, getting onto the turnbuckle and hitting a diving elbow. Again he only gets a 2 count, which causes him to get up and into the official's face. This gives Devin the opportunity go come back around, grabbing Brandon around the waist and throwing him overhead with the Aftershock (gutwrench suplex). Abstract hits the mat hard, but Devin decides to seal the deal by picking up Brandon and giving him a shove into the corner. He bounces back and Alexander Devin grabs hold, Foreshadowing sends Brandon Abstract down to the mat and Devin picks up the pinfall victory.
Kushnir: Don't say it... don't say it...
Evans: Brandon Abstract really should've seen that coming.
Kushnir: ... seriously?
Evans: It's called Foreshadowing Hayley. Pick up a book.
Kushnir: No time for books, its time for our main event!
The lights drop down for the main event, and JUST U.S. makes their way out first. Amityville Horror comes out second, both teams being NextGen staples, getting a huge reaction from the crowd after all they've seen tonight. Both teams are in the ring, Justice starting off for JUST U.S. and Alex Arthur starting for Amityville Horror. Justice offers his hand as the bell sounds and Arthur looks confused but accepts. Justice pulls him in and clobbers him with a straight shot to the jaw. Alex stumbles back but Justice is in hot pursuit, punches and elbows flying as he batters Alex back into the corner. Justice tags in Liberty, and the two hit a tandem bulldog on Alex as Justice exits the ring and Liberty goes for the pin. Alex kicks out at an early 2 and Liberty hoists him back to his feet. Liberty tries to whip him into the corner, but Alex counters and sends Liberty crashing into the turnbuckle. Liberty stumbles out and eats a superkick from Alex who leaps to make the hot tag to Abigail. Abigail climbs up onto the turnbuckle, motioning for Liberty to get to his feet. Liberty barely gets to a vertical base as Justice is yelling from their corner for him to get out of the way. Abby leaps off with a diving cross body, transitioning seamlessly into a pin for a 2 count as Justice intervenes to break up the pin. Melee ensues as Alex gets back into the ring, clobbering Justice with a pump kick. Liberty and Abigail are back to their feet, and Liberty grabs Alex and throws him out of the ring over the top rope. He turns his attention back to Abby, but is met with a superkick in response. Liberty drops to a knee and Abby goes for her shining wizard - It Came From Japan! However she hits the mat flat on her back, catching nothing but air as Justice has pulled Liberty out of the way and dragged him back to their corner. He tags himself in, leaving Liberty to regain his bearings, picking up the fallen Abigail and dropping her down with a DDT. Justice picks her back up, plopping her on the top turnbuckle before he lifts her onto his shoulders, looking for I AM JUSTICE! Before he can drop her own though, she's pulled from his shoulders by Alex making the save. Alex and Abby both leap up with a double dropkick on Justice before they move back to their corner to officially tag Alex back in. Alex grabs Justice in a bearhug, while Abby climbs onto the top turnbuckle and leaps off with a blockbuster, Whiplash 2.0! Alex covers Justice, Liberty tries to make the save but is cut off by Abby before he can stop the final 3.
Evans: Nothing horrifying about that, it was a great win here tonight in the main event for Amityville Horror!
Kushnir: JUST U.S fought hard, but it seemed like Arthur and Abigail had their number tonight.
Evans: Who knows where the pursuit of justice will take them next.. but we know where we'll be next! NextGen 7 will come to you LIVE from Club Vinyl in Denver Colorado, just days after EWC's staple pay-per-view Parabellum!
Kushnir: For EWCTV and NextGen, he's Marshall Evans... I'm Hayley Kushnir, and you're witnessing the next generation of EWC. See you all July 27th! You will NOT want to miss this!
