The scene opens to outside of Dimitri Graves’s mountain home in Calgary. There Bruce Booth stands, embracing the snow. He’d been there for the preparation of The House’s War Games match, but decided to stay the night to address his match with Dalilah Ashe. Bruce was chilly, and turned to the camera.
“My balls are freezing.”
He snickers, continuing to glance around.
“To be honest, this season hasn’t been very kind to me. Despite a career-defining win to become Primetime Briefcase holder, I’ve still got a lot to prove. But you know who can relate to that? Dalilah Ashe. The same woman who experienced my pain and my doubts.”
Bruce sweeps the snow with his foot, watching it skid onto the driveway.
“So far, this season hasn’t been very kind to Ashe. She’s 1-2, while I’m 2-3. But despite her shortcomings, nothing changes that she challenged for the Indy Championship at WrestleFest. Ashe is an extremely formidable opponent and I need to be at my A-game so I can finally shut people the fuck up when it comes to me. I’m sure that she even sees me as easy pickings, when she needs to be more worried about herself.”
Bruce rolls his eyes, observes the flickering lights within Dimitri's residence illuminating the dark night.
“Two of her three opponents so far have been champions. Sally Talfourd and The Lad ain’t no slouch, just like how I failed against two former Undisputed Champions, Lavender and Candy. It’s one thing to lose to future hall of farmers, and then to lose to someone who’s accomplished as much as I have. I can do something that Ashe hasn’t, and that is become Indy Champion.. Because if we all remember? Her temper got the best of her and she FORCED a cash-in, and still couldn’t get the job done!”
He smirks, the thought almost making him forget about the cold.
“What hurts Ashe every single time is her temper. She’s too reckless, unfocused. Win or lose, I always employ a great strategy that forces my opponents to work from underneath against me. Ashe is the smaller woman, so naturally I’ll ground her out with my mat wrestling and use my weight to hold her down. Ashe is good – but she’s got an inability to hold up in crucial points of the match. It’s the reason she couldn’t beat Gabi Vee to become number one contender, and she couldn’t beat Gabi Vee to become champion.”
Bruce adjusts his trenchcoat, pulling it closer as the snow is still getting through.
“She’s always focused on the wrong things. She claimed that Lad would learn a lesson in loss, but yet it was her umpteenth time learning that lesson. I was destined for greatness when I got my first role, and it’s continued in the wrestling world. Why would I allow Dalilah to take that from me when she struggles to inflict the pain she experiences onto other people.”
Before Bruce can continue any further, the door to Dimitri’s house opens. Bruce looks over to see his cousin Cosmo Goldworthy standing at the doorway.
“Bruce! Why the fuck you ain’t inside? It’s cold as shit!”
“I know, jackass! I’m trying to feel cold and evil like Dalilah Ashe!”
“...What? I don’t care! Just make sure you’re ready for Friday!”
“..And Sunday!” Bruce blinks as Cosmo slams the door shut.
He turns back to the camera and chuckles.
“Get a load of that asshole. Anyways, I’m aware that taking this match after War Games is a big risk. But I need to prove that I can endure adversity like the rest. Ashe may pick on my wounds, but I’m going to play dirty as well and use underhanded tactics to my advantage. Ashe loves pain, so we’ll see how much she can endure when I take her to the steel steps and the outside floor.”
Bruce watches as snow starts rolling off the roof near his feet.
“Look at all that snow crumbling like she usually does. Ashe’s only win this season was over a complete nobody in Nomad Ryder, who underestimated her. I won’t be doing that, because a notable victory is important.”
“To prove myself as a formidable briefcase holder, I need to defeat a former title challenger. Maybe I’ll take her out to eat after this, but come Prime #120 I will take her down with the Director’s Cut.”
Bruce throws his arms out, letting snow pour down as the camera fades to black.
