The camera opens to an aerial view of London at midday. The sun is beating down on the city as its citizens carry on with their regular days. The camera begins to zoom out until it's revealed that the camera is filming from inside The Shard, the tallest building in the United Kingdom. On floor 72, 800’ above the ground, is the observation deck and people are crowding the multiple windows looking out over all of London. They are pointing, talking, and laughing as they enjoy themselves with the once-in-a-lifetime view of the city. Then the elevator dings and the doors open and, standing alone, we see Caleb Scott slowly exit the elevator. He stands in front of the closing doors briefly and surveys the area. A few people see him and begin to whisper amongst themselves while his painted face remains stoic. Caleb begins to walk around the observation deck, not yet looking out of the 360-degree view.
“It is finally time for the Hellevator again. This is my third year in EWC and my third Hellevator match and what a match it will be this year. We've got rookies, veterans, current champions, former champions, and everything in between. All of them think they can handle what has become my favorite match. A time of year when it is perfectly acceptable to use whatever you want to hurt everyone and eventually throw your opponent off the roof of a building, well I couldn't ask for much more than that.”
As Caleb makes his way around the observation deck, more people begin to take notice of him as conversations begin to die down and the glances increase.
“I have been in every Hellevator match since my time in EWC began. I have reached the roof in every Hellevator match I've been in and this time it will finally be me being the last one up there. The only other person who has participated in that stretch is Dalilah Ashe. She might know what it's like to experience a Hellevator match but that was back in ‘22 during my rookie year. I am a different kind of monster now and she's going to find that out the hard way. As for the rest of the poor unfortunate souls that willingly put themselves into my match, they'll soon understand why I put myself through this hell every season.”
Caleb paces around the observation deck until he finally stops and turns toward the towering windows. He approaches the window as people split like the Red Sea allowing him to pass by. About ten miles in the distance, Caleb stares out at Wembley Stadium.
“Wembley will have its own set of impressive matches with championships on the line but the real match everyone is anticipating is the Hellevator. Speaking of championships, I mentioned that this match has plenty of former champions, including myself, and warriors with impressive accolades. I think the most decorated is Tsutsumi, this time last year she was walking away from Stranglemania with the EWC Undisputed Championship. Winterborn, the returning Melinda Rhodes, and the current Television Champion, The Lad, are all in as well even though The Lad should be a former champion but he took advantage of my split-second loss of focus. I promise that won't be happening again. Speaking of Rhodes, it looks like we'll be the only ones representing Brawl just like we did when we were teammates at Parabellum. As much as I enjoy it when we cross paths, if I see you on the roof I will have zero hesitation when it comes time to push you off as I know you would do the same. As far as title reigns go, this brings me to a man with zero, Zero. Zero-day is upon us because that is exactly what you'll be walking away with after the Hellevator. You had an impressive run on NextGen and made the jump to Rampage and in London, I'll make sure you make the jump from the roof. The two previous Primetime Ladder match winners, Dalilah and Bruce Booth will be participating too. You might be good at scaling those ladders but it won't bring you to the heights needed to win the Hellevator match. Divewire was MIA in 2023 but has returned in 2024 just in time to enter a career-ending match after losing the EWC champ, Sally Talfourd.”
As more and more people turn towards Caleb it highlights something. One person that isn't moving. The unknown person stands still, staring out the window, with his back towards Caleb. Caleb notices this and briefly glances at the man, the look on his face screaming that he knows who it is but Caleb doesn't do anything.
“Now there's an extra incentive for the Hellevator. The Iggy Swango Memorial Cup. It's a good way to remember Iggy and that cup will look good when I put it up in my big new warehouse. Apart from the established victims, we also have a handful of rookies that I'm looking forward to introducing to this fatal match, all impressive in their own right. The Lad might be on a hot streak as TV champ and one of the most impressive rookies in recent years but this match is a completely different monster. Justin Paige is coming in with a chip on his shoulder and something to prove which he has been doing. Shaker Jones and Sonya weren't enough to stop him and winning the Iggy Swango Cup would be a great way to add to it but it's not happening this year. He might want to put his name in people's mouths but it'll be my name that comes from his when he either misses the elevator or plummets to the ground from the roof. Apollo came in with a statement win in his debut then followed it up with another impressive win, beating two former EWC Undisputed champions in Ibuki Ito and Xavier Reid. Then we have Rick Rampage, a man who recently suffered the same fate as I did when I had my shot at The Lad. Walking away empty-handed in a title match hurts but it's not going to hurt as much as what's going to happen to you in the Hellevator match.”
Caleb turns his back to the massive window and looks out at the people all gathered around and watching him. The confused and unsettled look on their faces brings a slight smirk to Caleb's face. He knows that they know about the Granite City Sadist and they're waiting, anticipating, what he'll do next. Caleb quickly places a foot forward and makes a sudden movement as if to lunge at the crowd and the people gasp and shriek. Caleb goes back to standing still, knowing he has these people in the palm of his hand…except for that one man. That man continues to face away from Caleb.
“You see, everyone. Hell has ascended to London and I, Caleb Scott, am going to usher in a form of brutality that has never been witnessed here before. Peru saw it last year and India the year before, who knows if they have even recovered since then? All of my opponents have impressive accolades in their own right but they don't have what it takes to handle the Hellevator. Once someone experiences it, they usually never do it again which is why I was shocked to see Dalilah on the card. But I am entering my third straight Hellevator and I will leave it as the first recipient of the Iggy Swango Cup. As I said, the Hellevator this year is stacked with impressive competition, but it won’t matter. It could be me against nothing but Hall of Famers and I will still walk away as the winner because the Hellevator is my match! Hell is here and the Granite City Sadist is going to put every last one of my opponents through their own hell.”
Caleb slowly begins to walk through the crowd of people back towards the elevator. He reaches out and pushes the button as the people watch. Caleb turns and takes one last glance at the man that was facing away and notices he still has his back to Caleb. The elevator doors open and Caleb walks inside, the doors close and he begins to descend. The camera then pans over the crowd and the man previously facing away from Caleb has finally turned around with the final shot showing that man to be Luke Mason as he stares at the elevator.
“It is finally time for the Hellevator again. This is my third year in EWC and my third Hellevator match and what a match it will be this year.
