"The Hellevator awaits, timid soul...welcome"
The haunting voice of Jen Soska of the horror icons the Soska Sisters echos over the intercom, as Phoenix enters the lobby. He looks around for the soulless voice, but takes a deep breath, stepping into the freight elevator.
"Tonight...you will be exploring something we have found is close to you, dear bird. The Peoria State Hospital housed some of the most mentally insane patients this side of the country. The hauntings are things of legends. Now, you will enter the hospital and try to overcome yourself. Dear little Phoenix, are you ready to exit the Hellevator?"
The car continues down the shaft before lurching to a stop, causing Phoenix to try and shift his weight. "No, but yes. I'm pretty sure I've been through worse."
"You have been through nothing like this."
As Phoenix opened the door, Sylvia Soska's voice chimed in. You could hear the smile in her voice. "Phoenix...your nightmare begins...now."
Phoenix steps out to a decrepit wrestling ring. The ropes hung loosely off of the posts, and the mat was torn to shreds. He looked around, as the door to the elevator slammed shut behind him, leaving him with only a flashlight to fend off the darkness. Voices were heard whispering in the dark, as a single light hung over the center of the ring. It creaked with each swing, and in the middle of the ring was a chair. Sitting on the chair was a pair of round glasses. The same glasses worn by one Iggy Swango. Coming into Stranglemania, Phoenix was part of the Iggy Swango Memorial Cup. Inside the Hellevator, which is why Phoenix had asked the Soska Sisters to put him through this. To prepare for whatever may happen. Honestly, it was more than frightening in this room. Medical carts...stretchers...parts of corpses strewn about, including within the ring upon further investigation.
"Phoenix, you brought this upon yourself. The hospital contains all sorts of horrors that you must contend with. The ring is there only because we know what youre up against. Good luck, little birdie. We hope you don't make it out alive."
With that, there was sudden silence. Phoenix looked around with the flashlight, swearing to himself that he saw a shadow run by. The wing of the hospital he was in would have been creepy in the daylight, but in near pitch blackness like it was? It would weaken the nerves of even the most explored adventurers. Climbing slowly into the ring, he advanced towards the solitary chair, picking up the glasses. A scream echoed from down the hall as soon as he did, causing him to drop the glasses with a start. Steeling his nerves, he picked them up again and sat down.
"Sigh. This match means a lot to me. Not so much professionally, but personally. It was at my very first Stranglemania. The same arena that I debuted for Prime...is where I faced Iggy Swango in a Last Person Standing match. Now, four years later...so much has changed. Iggy is no longer with us. All that is left are her glasses. I know these are hers. The feel is uniquely hers, not the replicas that are still sold on EWCShop dot com. I hope I have eventually made her proud. Above all else, she loved competition. She was my first real rivalry here in EWC, and honestly? I couldn't have asked for anyone better to push me. Now, this match is all about her. Just as I'm sure she would've wanted it. She always wanted to be the center of attention..." He chuckled to himself, looking down at the glasses. "To be honest? There doesn't need to be anything else on the line in this match. The Hellevator is all about violence. Last person standing. Sound familiar?"
"This match seems to have Prime written all over it. I'm glad to be part of this brand. So much talent in this match, and yet? I've only faced two people before in this match. Divewire, whom I am personally and professionally very proud of. He has been showing out since he came to Prime. It's wonderful to see him prospering. I keep saying that he is going to be the one to watch this year. So many names all wanted to help carry on the spirit of Iggy this year. The spirits in here, though?" He motions his hand around the room. "They're a bit more...well, a bit more evil than the rest of the competitors in this field. Competitors like ZERO. Everyone has been worrying about ZERO day coming. It's all people are whispering about, and yet? No one knows exactly what ZERO is. When I hear that name, i think of the robot from Borderlands, but hey. To each their own, I suppose. Justin Paige, I still have a bone to pick with you. Listen to these halls. Listen to these voices. They don't like you Justin. They don't like how you treated me last month. They wish to speak with you, and I'm sure you're not going to like what they have to say...but I'll let them tell you themselves. As for the folks that I've never seen before? Well, welcome to this house of horrors. Welcome to my asylum. You see, while most folks are scared of the dark? I welcome it. While I may seem like I enjoy everything good and filled of light and fun? What you don't see is that this darkness...the evil that lies within it? They're calming in a way, and I'm sure Jen and Sylvia don't like hearing that, but I wanted to show them that this hell is nothing for me. It's soothing to me when I get to this. Iggy herself had a dark side that she pulled out during our Last Person Standing match, and I matched her for it beat for beat. I don't plan on winning this. I plan on hurting people. One night only. One night I get to show Prime what happens when Ultraviolence comes out to play. What HAPPENS when you put me into an environment like this. Bad things happen to good and bad people alike. Bad things that I may or may not have control over. This is for Iggy. This is for our fallen. But more importantly? This is for me. This...cathartic feeling that will surround me within these walls. They may trap me but...I'm taking as many of you with me as I can...Primetime comes to late night, and Ultraviolence comes out to play."
Fade to black.
