NEXTGEN EPISODE 012 EXTENSIVE RECAP

Welcome to the extensive recap of EWC's NextGen episode 12, where we find ourselves in ‘The City of You’, Youngstown, Ohio. EWC fans the world over have come to Ohio to not only catch a glimpse of EWC’s up-and-comers, but to celebrate our nation’s birth in style. Candace Campana takes the reins, opening up with a rock version of the Star Spangled Banner before introducing the commentary team - Hayley Kushnir and Marshall Evans!

Kushnir: Welcome to Youngstown, Ohio, where we are one step closer to our Season Finale in Pennsylvania!

Evans: Tonight, Haunting Curse makes his first title defense and HOPEFULLY we get our first defended NextGen Title.

Kushnir: Sunny didn’t have to, Kenzie refused, Tori couldn’t. It's time to see if Haunting Curse can stand up to Isaac Hale’s standards.

Evans: Well standing in front of him is Konstantine and ZERO, one NextGen monster and one Rampage beast! But before that, we have a match to wet our appetites as Jonathan Taylor Cross takes on Alexander Devin!

JTC comes out first to loud cheering from the crowd. But before he could soak it all in, Alexander Devin came out and interrupted the fan adulation. The bell rang and both men instantly ran to opposite corners of the ring to untie the exploding bats that were provided to them. Barely even a mili-second apart, both bats were untied, gripped and turned with a swing. The moment the bats met-up in the middle of the ring, the explosion threw shards of wood into the crowd and sent both competitors onto their asses in separate corners. Thankfully the EWC safety monitors had installed tall plexiglass walls, as chungs of wood were stuck into both the plexiglass AND our performers. With blood coming out of the large splinter in his right shoulder, Alexander Devin was the first to get up… but JTC wouldn’t let him get in the first hit. Back and forth both men went, tossing hard rights and vicious lefts. Both men bleeding from multiple places, pushed each other as far as their little hearts could. But in the end, JTC untied a third bat from the ring post and swung on Devin, only for The Prophet to shove a well placed boot into Cross’ midsection, causing the bat to hit the floor. Alexander grabbed JTC and tossed him into the corner, before grabbing him and connecting with ‘Foreshadowing’ onto the dropped bat. With an explosion that filled the area with smoke, the fans could barely make out Alexander Devin crawling onto JTC for the 1, 2, 3.

Kushnir: Wow, I sure do hope both men are able to walk away from his with all their limbs and digits.

Evans: Either way, that was one heck of an opening match. And Devin ending it with Foreshadowing… almost foreshadows our Main Event!

Kushnir: Oh God, no…

Evans: That’s right, Haley. The Exploding Cage match!!! Three men enter, one man leaves with the NextGen Championship! Here… we… go…

Konstantine was the first to come out, walking down to the ring inside the large metal cage. Following up behind him, was ZERO. The crowd was quiet and seemed nervous at the arrival of Rampage’s monster. Then the fans gave a mixed reaction as Haunting Curse came out, NextGen Championship around his waist. A slow walk to the ring and a slow entrance, but while Haunting Curse took off his belt… ZERO and Konstantine attacked! And while both men/monsters laid into HC, it wasn’t long before ZERO turned his attention to Konstantine and knocked ‘He Who Consumes’ back with a hard chop to the chest. ZERO grabbed Konstantine and whipped him OVER the ropes and into the cage. What everyone expected was a chain-link fence rattling noise, what they got was much louder. Upon hitting the cage, Konstantine hit a pressure plate that set off an explosion. A large part of the cage blew up against the plexiglass wall and Konstantine was tossed BACK into the ring.

With ZERO still watching this, Haunting Curse pulled himself up and went on the offensive, attacking ZERO with everything he had. It wasn’t long before ‘The Ancient Evil’ had ‘The Void Personified’ up against the ropes. Haunting Curse kicked ZERO in the gut and then grabbed him around the waist… lifting him into the air for a Bitter Harvest power-bomb…BUT ZERO USES HIS MOMENTUM TO KEEP GOING OVER HAUNTING CURSE’S HEAD!!! ZERO flips over Curse… grabbing him around the waist… CANADIAN DESTROYER!!! How in the HELL did he just do that?

With Haunting Curse reeling from the destroyer, ZERO was back up to his feet but quickly took a forearm to the back from a battered Konstantine. ZERO stumbled forward, only to turn around and begin exchanging blows with ‘the God Eater’. Again, the back and forth between those two caused enough time to pass for Haunting Curse to pull himself back to his feet. He crept over and got behind ZERO… pulling his arm back. LEECHING STRIKE! HEART-PUNCH… BUT ZERO MOVED AND HC CAUGHT KONSTANTINE! Haunting Curse turns towards ZERO… OBLIVION BOOT!!! Brogue Kick sends HC flying into the cage… AND EXPLOSIONS!!! ANOTHER PART OF THE CAGE JUST BLEW OFF!!! Konstantine is gasping for air…but ZERO grabs him and LIFTS UP THE 286 POUND MAN! STANDING BACKBREAKER! ZERO JUST HIT KONSTANTINE WITH DIVIDING BY ZERO!!! ZERO covers Konstantine and we get our 1, 2, 3!!!

Evans: And ZERO FINALLY gets the NextGen Championship around his waist.

Kushnir: But, it was all short lived…

We get a shot of ZERO staring at the big screen, where Isaac Hale is staring at him from an office somewhere on site.

Hale: Congratulations ZERO, for finally winning a NextGen Championship Match. Now believe me, I would love NOTHING MORE than to have you as my NextGen Monster, causing trouble and leaving a trail of bodies behind you.

Moises Ferro, ZERO’s manager, steps into the ring with a microphone… handing it to the NextGen Champion.

ZERO: You want ME to be YOUR monster? This was never about YOU. This was never about NextGen. This was never about Championships. This was about me, walking down to this ring and showing to the EWC and to all your young up-and-comers, that there is no hope. No hope in success, no hope in Championships, no hope for anything. Because no matter what heights they reach, ZERO will be there to consume everything. ZERO will be there to dash any and all promise this place has. ZERO-Day has arrived for NextGen…

ZERO pulls back and tosses the NextGen Championship out of the cage and somewhere into the crowd.

ZERO: Enjoy your insignificance. My work here… is finally done.

Isaac Hale, is fuming at the screen, when it turns off and a hoard of security comes running down to the ring. But without another word, ZERO tosses the microphone and Moises slides out of the ring. Our final shot is of ZERO tearing apart the NextGen security… standing tall above them all.

Evans: ZERO proves his worthiness and then up and VACATES the Championship.

Kushnir: Well… I wasn’t expecting that. But once Isaac licks his wounds, what does he do next? Where do we go from here? Will this ZERO-shaped cloud always hang over NextGen? Tune in next time, to EWC’s NextGen!
