NEXTGEN EPISODE 013 EXTENSIVE RECAP
AUGUST 01 2024

Welcome to the extensive recap of EWC's NextGen Episode 13, in the city made famous by the 1889 Flood...  filming location of the movie Slap Shot AND Risky Business... and birthplace Steve Ditko, co-creator of Spiderman and Doctor Strange.... Johnstown, Pennsylvania. With the summer almost over and school ready to be back in session, kids and EWC fans alike have flocked to the War Memorial to see an EWC match and enjoy the central air of the arena. Sam Coco takes the reins, opening up with an acoustic version of the Star Spangled Banner before introducing the commentary team - Hayley Kushnir and Marshall Evans!

Kushnir: HE-LLO JOHNSTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA! Our NextGen Thirteen event is underway and we are one month out from our Season Finale!

Evans: After the humiliation NextGen felt last show with ZERO pinning Konstantine for Haunting Curse's Championship, then turning and vacating it almost immediately... it seems a lot of Nextgen Roster members are in a funk, as tonight we have ONE match between Rory Hyland and Paramount's Atlas Millwall.

Kushnir: It's going to be a heck of an introduction to NextGen, for Melody Malone's former hired help.

Evans: Well with the ring already set-up and the action ready to begin... lets get to our action!!!

Normally a four corner ring, for this night only NextGen had converted to a six-side ring and each corner had toys to play with: A hockey stick with the old Johnstown Chiefs logo on it, a piece of wood from the 1889 Flood Memorial with a piece of barbed wire wrapped around it, a six foot long steel rod, a bag of coal dust, a baseball bat with the Johnstown Johnnies logo on it, and a bag of gold clubs that were abandoned during the 2024 Sunnehanna Amateur golf tournament. Rory, ready to support his home country of Scotland and their contributions to society, grabbed the golf clubs. Atlas? Symbolic of the Atlas on his tights, he grabbed the bag of coal dust. You know... because it used to be coal... a rock... like the rock Atlas held up? Yeah, I know I'm not funny and make no sense... fucking deal with it.

Rory charged forward with 4-iron club already in mid-swing... but Atlas was quick to evade the club and caught Rory under the chin with the bag of coal dust, swinging it up in one fluid motion. In a puff of soot, the bag broke open and sprayed dust everywhere. It was hard to even make out the white stripes on Toby Sawyer's Officials uniform. With Rory distracted and having dropped the golf club, Atlas grabbed him by the arm and LEVELED him with a HUGE short-arm lariat. As Rory hit the ground, a puff of black dust rose up again from the canvas. Rory was quick to drop a knee or two on the fallen Hyland. But it was when he got greedy for an extra one, that The Scotsman moved out of the way. Millwall slammed hard into the mat, knee first... but was quick to try to jump to his feet, only to catch a boot to the mid-section! Rory grabs him around the waist and lifts him up... BEN HY-NO! ATLAS USES HIS MOMENTUM AND SLIDES OVER RORY! Atlas turns around... BUT RORY WAS READY AND TURNS WITH A RIGHT HOOK THAT SENDS ATLAS INTO THE CORNER! Rory lunges forward, attacking Atlas with a left... then a right... then a left... then an elbow... then a knee to the midsection! Rory Hyland seems to be unloading years of pent up frustration and lack of release. He grabs the hockey stick behind Atlas and rips it off the loose string that it was tied to the ring post with. With the stick in both hands, he brings it down HARD onto the top of Atlas' head... causing the Tag team Specialist to bust open. With blood starting to trickle down the side of his head, Atlas stumbles forward. His ears ringing and his head pounding, The Titan is almost out of it. Rory grabs Millwall and spins him around to begin another att-ATLAS LUNGES FORWARD WITH A HEADBUT SQUARE BETWEEN THE EYES OF RORY HYLAND!!! The Queen's Guard stumbles back, blood trickling from his nose and possibly broken, Atlas with a HUGE FORARM AND A GASH FORMS ABOVE RORY'S RIGHT EYE! Hyland stumbles back more! Atlas grabs him by the arm and WHIPS him into the opposite corner, Hyland leaving coal dust covered foot prints on the mat.

Atlas charges the corner... BUT RORY WITH A BASEBALL BAT TO THE GUT OF MILLWALL AND HE DOUBLES OVER!!! Rory grabs Atlas by the wrist and whips him into the ropes... Atlas comes flying back... BEN HYLAND!!! POP-UP POWERBOMB!!! Rory tries for the quick pin, but only gets a two... before Atlas throws a handful of the coal dust into Rory's face!!! Rory rolls away as Atlas slowly pulls himself up to his feet. Both men on their feet, but Hyland is still trying to rub the dust out of his eyes... Atlas grabs him around the neck, hooks Rory's leg and lifts him up... POLE SHIFT!!! FISHERMAN SUPLEX LIFT BRAINBUSTER AND ATLAS COVERS FOR THE 1, 2, 3!!!


Evans: Atlas with a showing tonight on NextGen and Rory will have to lick his wounds and watch the tapes to see what happaned.

Kushnir: I'll tell you what happened Atlas used the tools given to him, to his advantage.

Evans: Well either way, that was a our match for the evening folks! Tune in on September Fifth for the Season Finale of NextGen.

Kushnir: Where we will find our way to Centralia, Pennsylvania... for what GM Hale tells us, will be one heck of a way to go out with a bang! Thanks everyone and goodnight!
